25.01.2022 Dear Colleagues, Patients and Friends, It is with a heavy heart we advise that Mr Kevin Chambers passed away on Friday the 20th of November. Our community has truly lost one of the most skilled and caring doctors. Our beautiful KC touched and saved the lives of so many people. Mr Chambers spent countless hours teaching and improving patients access to high quality medical care. ... We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone providing support and comfort at this time. Our fond memories of Mr Chambers will forever be with us, he will be greatly missed and will never be forgotten. Kindest Regards, Julie, Nicole, Annette, Norelle, Lyn and Judy The girls at Surgeons Rooms

24.01.2022 I get why people think things are different in regional Victoria. Fewer cases. More spread out. Easier to distance. But the virus we're fighting and the dange...r of it taking hold is exactly the same. And while we're putting a lot of work into containing the spread in the city and protecting regional communities we can't let our guard drop in the country. Which is why we're stepping up our testing and response capacity right around the state. And we're making sure there aren't any barriers for regional Victorians to get tested if they have symptoms however mild. Coronavirus sites are being established or expanded across Wonthaggi, Echuca, Bendigo, Shepparton, Koo Wee Rup and Mildura. And there are more testing locations planned for Gippsland and Ballarat too. We’re also establishing local public health response teams so we have case management and contact tracing for regional communities whenever they’re needed. And we're encouraging all Victorians, including those living outside of Melbourne, to wear a mask when physical distancing isn't possible. Regional Victoria isn't immune to any of this - and regardless of where you live, we all have a role to play here. Because we're at a critical point in this fight, and what we do today will have a massive impact on tomorrow. So whether you're in East Gippsland or Swan Hill. Whether you're 26 or 62 the message could not be any simpler: Wash your hands, keep your distance, and if you have symptoms get tested.

24.01.2022 Our phones are back on and running, please call us on 50231627. Thank you for your patience.

24.01.2022 Thank you to the wonderful nurses at our Rooms and to all the nurses across the world on International Nurses Day. Your hard work and dedication makes a difference to so many people’s lives each day. International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world each year, on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth and celebrates the contributions nurses make to society and is a great opportunity to acknowledge the commitment that nurses provide on a daily basis.

23.01.2022 Some people will be sick of hearing this. And to be honest, I don't blame you. But there are some Victorians who need reminding. Keeping your distance isn't jus...t for when you're at the supermarket or out in public. It's something we have to maintain at all times, around anyone that's not part of our immediate household. Each time you socialise without physically distancing, you're taking a big risk. Not just for yourself. For everyone. You may think that's an overreaction. But it's the frightening truth. It only takes a few people getting too close and getting sick for this thing to take off again. That's what we're seeing now. One more thing to remember: Every interaction we have stays with us for weeks. And every time you come into close contact with people, you're also coming into contact with everyone they've spent time with. So please: use common sense and keep your distance. It's up to all of us to keep each other safe.

21.01.2022 Yes we are still open! We are pleased to inform you that Mr. Chambers’ rooms have remained open throughout the Covid-19 restriction period. If you have a medical treatment that needs dealing with you should see your GP and ask for a referral. Feel reassured that we have implemented safe screening policies and procedures to keep patients safe when coming into our rooms.... There is no need to travel to Melbourne or Adelaide for most surgical treatment. There are many advantages of seeing a surgeon who lives locally; 1. You will not be placed into a high Covid risk situation in Melbourne 2. You will not be treated by a surgeon travelling backwards and forwards from a high risk area 3. You will remain close to family and friends for support 4. You will not have to pay for unnecessary travel and accommodation 5. You will not have to pay a gap if you are insured privately with the Mildura District Hospital Fund and are being treated at the Mildura Private Hospital 6. You will be treated by a highly experienced surgeon All private patients with a referral from their GP are able to see Mr Chambers within a week for their initial consultation and their operation can occur shortly afterwards at a time of the patient’s choosing. The conditions we are seeing patients for are: Colonoscopies & Gastroscopies Gall Bladder disease Colorectal conditions Breast Cancer surgery Hernia repair Skin Cancer surgery Pacemakers through Dr Soward’s rooms If you have any questions at all please contact our rooms to speak to our friendly staff on: 50231627

11.01.2022 Last week Mildura lost a great man in surgeon Kevin Chambers. . In 2012 when the private management contract for our hospital was first up for renegotiation, i...t was Kevin who alerted our community. If he had not, the contract would likely have been quietly renewed, keeping us locked in a failed and dangerous experiment. The day the Victorian Government announced we were getting our hospital back, few were as proud and elated as Kevin. This week’s budget delivered game-changing wins to our community. There was investment in schools, roads, public housing, tourism and sports infrastructure across Mildura, Robinvale, Merbein, Hopetoun, Sea Lake, Ouyen, Birchip and Wycheproof, and our communities are grateful. But the thing that would have piqued Kevin’s interest most was the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund. On behalf of Kevin, his family, his staff and the community that loved him, yesterday in Parliament, Ali asked the Premier if he could confirm whether Mildura Base Public Hospital will receive any money from that fund. .
