This is the first in a new series which will delv back into SASS and the people who are around to help and give advice and information. ‘SASS’ is the Surrogacy Australia Support Service which is avaliable to both IPs and Surrogates. We have done a number of posts about this and more infomation can be found on our website or connecting here with us through comments or DMs. ... Joining SASS links you with either mentor IPs or a mentor Surrogate. Through this upcoming series we are going to introduce you to some of our wonderful mentors and hear snippets of their own stories. Our first SASS mentor is someone we have met through our socials before, Charmaine from Brisbane. Her IPs, featured here, are now long life friends. Charmaine birthed their son James in October 2017. Charmaine is so amazing that she is currently about to embark on an interstate journey with her current IPs. Pat, has reflected tonight on her relationship with her surrogate Charmaine The love I have for my surrogate brings my emotions to another level. Here we are talking about another woman who has offered and taken responsibility to grow and develop my baby, endure the pain of childbirth and through all of that then with love and happiness gladly hand t...he baby to me. Women have a best friend in their lives and wouldn’t even give them their favourite handbag !! But the best part is how each piece of our journey has formed the perfect puzzle. I haven’t met my surrogates youngest and I have already adopted her!!! She calls me Mum #2. It’s not because of what I send her it’s because I have invested the time with this child outside the relationship with my surrogate and her husband. But best part is we complete each other’s thoughts and needs as it’s almost like second nature. It feels so natural so I know it’s right. That’s the best part, having that complete feeling you know your in the right place with the right people. I love you Charmaine!!!! Thankyou both for continuing to be open and honest to help educate others about surrogacy. So many issues can be solved quickly & efficiently if everyone is open and honest with each other. 2. It's been just over 9 months since I gave birth to Xavier, and I feel extremely lucky to say that my relationship with IPs post surrogacy is exactly how I envisioned it being. ... We have a great friendship, that doesn't revolve solely around surrogacy, which I love! We went through this extremely special, but also complicated experience together, and managed to keep our friendship a priority and I'm so grateful for that. 01.01.2022 Real Talk Tuesday... and this exemplifies the word REAL... Tonight we hear some ‘home truths’ from @annasurrogate... and we thank her for this raw account of this part of her surrogacy journey. 38 weeks pregnant and super ‘ready’ to give @the_real_dads_of_adelaide their baby boy! ... Here is a little recap of Anna’s thoughts from this afternoon... 38+2.... it’s 1:30pm, I don't want to go to my Physio appointment, but I also want a new pelvis as I think my current one is broken. I don't want to pick the kids up from school/Kindy, because that involves driving/walking, but... I also want to try and be present and make up for my yelling (ok roaring ) this morning - bloody ‘pregnancy hormones’ I don't want to cook dinner I don't want to have to waddle to the toilet I want the lunch I'm reheating in the oven to be brought to me by a butler called Jeeves while I stay sitting on the bed with my legs outstretched. I want to meet this baby and see the boys be dads, but I'm also sometimes nervous about birth. I want my body back and this 14kg bowling ball to be removed from the front of my body. I want more time in my days but also more energy and less discomfort. Not likely when you're this pregnant Anna... I'm glad the sun is out in Adelaide and that helps to lift the spirits. Sometimes I feel like this little guy is playing AFL inside and sometimes it’s hard to be excited. Would you like someone playing AFL inside you, bouncing on your bladder? At least that last comment made me laugh And maybe wet myself a little bit.... . . . . Now if that’s not raw and real on this Tuesday night I don’t know what is... Has this got you thinking?
