19.01.2022 Today is international trans day of remembrance Today and every day we need to remember those amongst us who have been killed or denied their very existence. Trans and gender diverse folk are at much greater risk of suicide or violence than the rest of the population. A total of 3664 trans and gender-diverse people were reported killed in 75 countries between January 2008 and September 2020.... Of the reported killings worldwide, sex workers make up the majority of victims. Take a moment to think on what our trans friends have to endure - bullying, misgendering, denying their existence, violence, stigmatisation and many things that make every day life and peace of mind difficult. Covid has been a particularly difficult time for trans folk as they have been cut off from the support and community that they need. Suicide rates have skyrocketed. What can you do to make the world a more inclusive place for trans folk? Check in with your trans friends, gently educate those around you who have unfounded fears of trans folk, open your hearts. Some of the most beautiful, creative, wonderful souls that I know are trans. 13.01.2022 I can’t begin to describe the admiration I have for Betty Dodson. It’s been wonderful to see she holds respect and admiration from many of my colleagues as well. Betty changed the landscape of women’s sexuality and her loving way of coaching women to love and understand their bodies still brings a tear to my eye. She was a bad ass right to the end and lives on in her teachings.
