21.01.2022 LEFT NOSTRIL BREATHING (For calming) Have you ever wondered why you have two nostrils rather than one bigger one? There is an alternating cycle of activity between your two nostrils and we switch between the nostrils approx. once an hour. As you breathe one nostril is always dominant and there is a regular swapping out of the main nostril. This periodic shift is called a Nasal cycle. ... The possibility of being able to influence particular characteristics may be influenced by the blocking a specific nostril whilst breathing through the other. Next time youre stressed or struggling to fall to sleep. Try left nostril breathing. Block off your right nostril using a finger to apply pressure to it so as to seal it off. Allow your breathing to adjust so it is longer and slower with slightly slower / longer exhales but also gentle inhales using only your left nostril. Left nostril breathing activates parasympathetic dominance AKA rest and recovery as opposed to right nostril breathing which activates sympathetic dominance AKA Fight Flight or Freeze. The benefits of left nostril breathing include improved cardio vascular function, reduced blood pressure, improved lung function and respiratory endurance, lower heart rates, enhanced mental clarity / focus, weight loss, deeper relaxation and improved sleep. In general an improved state of health and wellness is experienced. 30 minutes 3-5 times per week seems to be what is required to solicit ongoing behavioural change and consistent measurable results. 20.01.2022 FEAR EXTINCTION V CONDITIONING. . FEAR is a behavioural response to a particular stimulus based on our perception of an anticipated outcome associated with that stimulus.. . Pavlovs dogs and the Stanford mouse experiment demonstrate how behavioural responses to stimuli can be manipulated and conditioned or made extinct depending on the circumstances of the exposure.... . Pavlovs dogs responded to the ring of a bell by salivating as they had been conditioned to being feed at the ring of a bell. . Stanford's mice responded to a tone they associated with electrocution by freezing on the spot. . Stanfords mice were also able to be unconditioned. That is they eventually ignored the tone when electricution was removed realising it no longer posed a threat. . These circumstances help explain how we can condition ourselves to fear certain stimulus like large waves and deep water based on the experiences we associate with the particular stimulus. 19.01.2022 HUET - HELICOPTER UNDERWATER ESCAPE TRAINING. . Stoked to announce heading into 2021 we will once again be delivering our commercial HUET and Sea survival training. This is a VET accredited course under the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) framework for both the Aviation and Public Safety industries. . However the HUET trainer makes for a super interesting addition to any water confidence training program. Requiring participants to orientate whilst blond folded, a...fter spinning inverted, locate and operate the exit point and door before releasing their safety restraint and finally exiting the frame. So it will definitely be included in future seminars. . This type of training instills the need to stay calm and stick to a predetermined plan of action in a particular sequence. It is an ideal tool for teaching anyone to follow instructions and make better decisions whilst under stress. . 15.01.2022 NASAL BREATHING IMPROVES SEXUAL FUNCTION The way you breathe can make the difference between an amazing sexual performance or total disaster. Its that simple. Breathing is natures Viagra!!!! Sexual function (including orgasm) is a parasympathetic phenomenon not confusing orgasm with ejaculation (which is a sympathetic response). To create the best possible scenario for an outstanding performance we need to ensure we are breathing through our nose and our sympathetic nervous... system is down regulated. Vasodilation is required in order for both the penis and clitoris to obtain become erect and maintain erection. Interestingly the nose consists of the same erectile tissue as the sexual organs and responds the same during sexual arousal along. Optimal levels Nitrogen Oxide (NO) which is a vasodilator are necessary to dilate of blood vessels to create increased blood flow throughout the body including to the sexual organs. This increased blood flow is responsible for your erection and ability to maintain erection throughout the duration of your experience. Breathing dysfunction in particular mouth breathing / hyperventilation (which results in sympathetic dominance) can significantly lower production of NO in the body (30% of the bodies total production occurs in the nasal cavity). Resulting in reduced vasodilation ability. By correcting dysfunctional breathing and using very simple specific nasal breathing methods conditions such as premature ejaculation can be completely overcome. Further the release of sexual energy can be controlled and sustained. Making for a longer more enjoyable and much more satisfying sexual experience for all parties. Mantak Chia s book Taoist secrets of love cultivating male sexual energy is an awesome and very insightful read for anyone man / or woman wishing to explore the use of breath to enhance sexual energy and performance. Going the distance by Gold Coast local Guy Fitter is another very interesting read for both men and women looking to move forward from PE. Although both books are written by men about men the information is just as applicable for women as it enables them to understand the subtleties and nuances of male and female sexual energy and how best to cultivate and activate such to achieve an optimal performance!!! In a nutshell it all comes back to how we breathe, our self-awareness and our self-control. Some interesting stats about sexual dysfunction. 70% of men ejaculate prematurely and have some problems with sexual stamina at some stage in their lifetime. 20-30% of men report suffering from premature ejaculation (PE). 75% of women never reach orgasm by intercourse alone. 10 to 15% never climax under any circumstances. 12.01.2022 THE PUSH DRILL. . Push a 2.5 kg weight plate or similar along the bottom of the pool.Adds a dynamic challenge to underwater component of a training session. When selecting a weight plate go for a model that will lift off the bottom in pushed to hard. This type of disk requires a lot more finess to control and makes for a more interesting more mental than physical type of challenge. .... The drill requires a shift from focussing on the urge to breathe toward maintaining technique and control underwater in optimise the weights movement along the bottom. . The object is to not to pick up or lift the weight but to steadily slide it smoothly and continuously along the bottom. . Disks like the larger yellow version shown in this picture will lift off the bottom and take to an uncontrolled flutter if shovved with too much force. Smaller sized weights like 2.5kg dive weight will not lift and are much easier to control but are less conducive to gliding and sliding . Incorporate the Push Drill into any drill to make for a very interesting challenge. . Your breath is your power - be harder to kill! . See more
