22.01.2022 Home Made White Wreath

22.01.2022 On June 21 the longest night of the year we hold our Winter solstice event outdoors at @QEll Square Albury. It can get very cold so without our volunteers Ian A...vageSplitters Creek Rural Fire Brigade along with John VandevenFire and Rescue NSW Station 209 Albury Civic, we would not be able to have our fire pits for warmth. This year Winter Solistice will be streamed here on Facebook at 6pm on Sunday 21 June instead of a live event. Ian Avage tells us why he thinks Winter Solstice is still so important to our community. Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons Thank you to our firies. Your dedication and service does not go unnoticed. Thanks to Nomad Films for the video.

22.01.2022 Courage and strength

20.01.2022 25years ago I lost my mother to suicide. 25years without the love of my own mother, every year it gets harder but every year I get stronger. It’s hard to beli...eve that the only memories I have of the woman who bought me into this world are photos and stories people tell me. That sometimes isn’t enough, sometimes I just want to hold her and to hear her voice. I will never know what her smell was or her touch.. I am blessed to have my sisters in my life who can remind me of the beautiful person she was. It’s organisation’s like this that keep me fighting for something so close to me, days like today I read Kristy’s story and think if she can do it so can we! It’s never to late to reach out to someone, always check in with those around you! See more

19.01.2022 21 years ago today I married my best friend and soul mate. 6.5 years later I became a widow after he lost his battle with depression and took his own life. I struggled with my grief and having no where to turn for 5 years before I started SoS. My main mission in starting this organisation was to be able to provide a safe place for families to be able to grieve the loss of a loved one to Suicide. As we know the grief from losing a loved one to their own hand is so complex and ...traumatic. I am proud to say that 15 years later I am still here, fighting my own battles with depression, and will probably fight this illness the rest of my life. I refuse to sink, even if I have to doggy paddle for the rest of my life I will survive! 10 years on from launching SoS and we are still raising awareness to prevent Suicide and bereavement support and would love nothing more than to be able to fulfill our vision of being able provide a full time bereavement support to our Ballarat community If you are struggling with your own journey please keep fighting as life can and will get better I promise. Sending all of my love, hugs and strength to each and all. Kristy xxxx See more
