20.01.2022 TAKE THE STAIRS!!! Studies show: The potential to shrink almost two sizes Dropping 12 pounds in a year is as easy as choosing the steps over an escalator or elevator nearly every day, says Sonu S. Ahluwalia, M.D., clinical chief of orthopedic surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Aside from fitting into your back-of-the closet jeans (at least that’s where ours go when they don’t fit), the perks here are big: Numerous studies show that losing just 10 percent of your body weight can lower blood pressure, reduce bad LDL cholesterol, and decrease internal inflammationwhich means lower risk of stroke, heart attack, and certain cancers, respectivelyas well as put less pressure on joints.

20.01.2022 How long does it take you to do 100 push ups? Doing push ups is like exercise- the hardest part is starting. And you know what, you don’t have to be able to do the whole lot, coz what matters is that you’re doing it! It’s a full body exercise and is a lot of fun! Stuart got 2mins 18 secs... Susan Baxter got 2mins 58 secs Can you complete 100? https://www.instagram.com/p/B_WM_sXgW-X/?igshid=vbyuua05t521

18.01.2022 Do you what Tabata training is? Have a read of an article written by me for M2woman :) You may or may not have heard of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT training), as a type of metabolic conditioning. Tabata training is a style of HIIT. It was named after the head coach of the Japanese speed skating team (Dr Izumi Tabata) who established the protocol with his team in the lab at the National Institute of Fitness and Sport in Kanoya (Japan) in 1996. The difference between...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Specsavers advert ... thoughts? I couldn't stop giggling. I think those ladies and gents were just about t get into the groove though!

17.01.2022 Hey team: it's going to be a long 6 weeks not being able to see you all in person But at least we have zoom virtual PT (which is as one client put it "just like having you in my living room- workout is just as hard and very inventive exercises")! Now we can't see each other in person, sometimes we can feel very disconnected, so I thought I'd share some top tips I use to help you through.... 1) keep moving: set aside a time to get up and move around / dance like a crazy pe...rson or do some of our sessions we have done together. 2) keep a schedule: write a to do list and get up at the same time each day. Letting sleep ins get later and going to bed later can often make us lethargic and low of mood. 3) Eat well: plenty of time to cook: what not try some of my recipes? More than 90% of our happy hormone is released in our gut, so feed it well! 4) Plan around sedentary work meetings: I get on a spin bike when Im on hold to the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services That was 2 hours one day! 5) Make a project: mine originally was to plan my wedding (weddings are actually BANNED!) but now the plan it to make painting the garage my project... 6) Keep learning: I plan to read a bit more, but im doing very well on my audiable books which I can listen to as I clean the garage and continue to re-organise my house 7) Focus on what you can do: I see all to many people focusing on a closed doors so long that they can't see the open doors... Think about re-framing "I cant go on holiday until i don't know when" to " wow I have never felt so grounded, I get to slow down and take stock of my time!" What ideas do you have? Here is a link with more ideas than mine.... https://www.verywellmind.com/how-to-cope-with-loneliness-du

15.01.2022 The increase in the waistlines of New Zealanders has lead to an increase in health related illnesses. The 2008/09 New Zealand Adult Nutrition Survey found that one in three adults were overweight (37.0%), and one in four were obese (27.8%). With a population of 4.4 million, over 1,000,000 New Zealanders can be classified as obese. The cost of obesity is to often linked with other serious health issues including type 2 diabetes, ischaemic heart disease (IHD), stroke, several c...ommon cancers, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, and reproductive abnormalities which lead to loss of income, and potentially stretch the New Zealand health dollar to breaking point. The ‘Heart of the Matter’ Behavioural risk factors (including unhealthy diet and physical inactivity) are responsible for about 80% of coronary heart disease worldwide. It’s a simple fact that a sedentary lifestyle is one of the major risk factors to heart disease; a risk factor that is easily controlled through moderate regular exercise. A recent research study from Liverpool’s John Moores University found that exercise not only helps prevent heart disease, but also may actually repair heart tissue already damaged. The research reported in the European Heart Journal showed that regular and strenuous (enough to make you sweat) exercise may lead to the development of new heart muscle. The researchers suggest that damage from heart disease or failure, could be at least partially repaired through 30 minutes of running or cycling a day, at enough intensity to work up a sweat. 13.01.2022 I knew there was a reason why I consume so much coffee! Studies show: Greater information comprehension and retention Your morning fix really can perk you up: Research conducted at the University Collage of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, found that consuming just 3 milligrams of caffeine helped adults process relevant information faster. Since a cup of java has about 80 mg, the next time you’re faced with an info-heavy assignment at workanalyzing spreadsheets or anything that requires absorbing and understanding factsbe sure to hit the coffee shop first.

13.01.2022 Hey team! October is breast cancer awareness month. Usually I would be running a breast cancer foundation fundraiser but alas we are trapped in our houses coz of COVID! Instead Please consider helping out: A friend, Alyx Stewart, who runs a business Kee-moh Snacks, is fundraising for Breast Cancer Network Australia. Breast Cancer Network Australia provide support and reliable information services. In these times of social isolation, support services are more important than ev...er as a cancer journey can be one of the most isolating experiences. Alyx says I have created a new cookbook called 'Through Rose-Tinted Glasses' which has 25 pink food inspired recipes in it. The recipes are suitable for anybody and you have seen in the past the food I cook - it's pretty good stuff. This is an ebook so it is instant access. The price is $9.99 and $5.00 goes to BCNA. All I ask is if you can help, please do so by at least forwarding the link on to others [https://kee-mohsnacks.com.au/collections/fundraising](https://kee-mohsnacks.com.au/collections/fundraising)

07.01.2022 Cereal Crimes? The Facts: Breakfast bombshell: Residues of more than 70 pesticides have been found in individual boxes of cereal. Why? Many pesticides today, particularly the go-to chemical applied to genetically engineered crops, are systemic. That means the chemicals wind up inside of the food you're eating. Healthy Tip: Beware of "natural" cereals. Testing by the Cornucopia Institute found that "natural" cereals are often contaminated with crop pesticides, warehouse fumigation chemicals, and genetically modified ingredients (GMOs). Choose organic if you truly want to avoid toxic chemicals in your food.

07.01.2022 WOW: Airway Assault The Facts: Kids who eat fast food two to three times a week face a significantly higher risk of developing asthma, possibly due to the processed foods' ability to create inflammation in the body. The trans fats and sugar common in fast-food menu items trigger inflammation, an unhealthy condition tied to asthma. Healthy Tip: Skip the drive-thru and eat fruits and vegetables at least three times a week, a move that research found was associated with lower rates of asthma.

07.01.2022 What brings you joy? With the rain starting today and social distancing for over a month, i have taken it upon myself to make a list of suggestions to bring joy.... TRY these if you need a little extra joy. PLEASE ADD to this as I want to make sure that we all have the opportunity to see lots of ideas to help everyone! Or simply tag someone who needs to see this list 1. Exercise! (ok I'm jaded but still, extra endorphins make us happy... 2. Phone a friend: social isolation doesn't mean we have to be alone! Catch up and chat! 3. Scream therapy (scream into a pillow) now that's a bit of a rush 4. Pick some flowers (the smell is helpful to our senses) 5. Sing along to a song (again it reduces stress) 6. Give your partner or furry friend a hug longer than 20secs 7. Put on a feel-good song and dance like no one is watching 8. make a list of 3 things to be grateful for each day: it alters our brain chemistry to seek the gratitude 9. Have something to look forward to... in the past a holiday used to be something to look forward to. Book in advance a movie night with your partner or online with your friends via netflix and have at least 2 things to look forward to (so that when you enjoy one there's another on the way! I have a virtual walk coming up if you want to know more! 10. Each fruit and vegetables (they actually help our body feel happier!) 11. Do a good deed for someone, like make them cookies or something 12. Watch a comedy show to make you laugh 13. Make a journal and you can write all the things down that are weighing on your mind..... Do you have more? 13 is my lucky number so that's why I stopped there (and I wanted you to be able to read it without getting bored!)

07.01.2022 Okidoki team, I know you like the spicy moves so here’s my free Pilates class for you! This one got lost in the wild old west of Facebook processing... so please show it some love! https://www.facebook.com/FitnessFirstAustralia/videos/692698094962624/?vh=e&extid=0

06.01.2022 Hey team! I’ve gotten some messages asking if I’m still running sessions outdoors I sure am! These can be done 2 on one if you have a friend (can be from another household) and want to split the cost, or 1 on 1 (both options are allowed). We found that those who kept their sessions up outside of the gym not only maintained but increased strength, fitness, and balance and some (who had the specific goal to) lost as much as 15kg during last lock down. It’s not all about weigh...t loss though, and I’m sure some people felt like it kept them sane too! Feel free to message my personal page or text me 0435996198 to enquire. (Fun fact, the inspirational quote is to show you my sense of humour- in bayside fitness first the gym is upstairs so you literally have to take the stairs )

05.01.2022 Is Sleep Undermining Your Gains? We have all been there. The procrastination that happens on a school night (or work night), where you feel just a little bit naughty by staying up late to watch Netflix, or just can’t be bothered to go to bed. If you are also noticing that your energy is stagnating, you might want to consider whether the two are related (sleep and performance). Although you might have cracked the habit of regular exercise, on top of a demanding work schedu...Continue reading

04.01.2022 You know what, exercise training can often be that one thing that makes everything ok again. Not in a negative I can’t cope and need exercise or exercise will punish my body to feel as my mind does but in a complete, unapologetic self-care, self-preservation, and introspective way. Sometimes exercise is the mirror that tells us what is happening on the inside when we have been neglecting ourselves. Sometimes it’s the true sense of empowerment and control that we can hav...e on one aspect of our lives (especially when there are a lot of unknowns). Other times it’s the step away from the stress epicentre of commitments and competing demands! It’s also very fair. It gives you back exactly how much effort and commitment you put in it. Do yourself the most indulgent favour and engage in 20mins of uninterrupted activity today- dance to your favourite song, go on a walk, do some running or pick up something heavy. Then tell me what you perceived level of control and coping is for all the crazy-ness that life throws!

04.01.2022 THE FUTURE RE-OPENING of the gym (whenever it is) Hey team, with some restrictions being lifted yesterday (elective surgery & visitation rules), the deadline of self-isolation in level 3 may be approaching :) Here's the plans for heading forward: the HYBRID model for training, with more offerings to suit you, your needs and locations.... DON'T panic if you've found that YOUR fun is: - 1-on-1 weekly or tri-weekly virtual home training; - mindset coaching with written home programs; - 1-on-1 training outdoors: THESE OPTIONS WILL STILL BE AVAILABLE FOR YOU. There is an absolute commitment from me to you of supporting you to your best health. I have already had some conversations around virtual training when on holidays, and I am so excited about the possibilities! When the gym does re-open, my priority is not "business as normal" but instead my commitment to your best health, which means even if you are nervous about training in the gym we can continue to strengthen your immune system via all of my other offerings. :) Rest assured that I'm not ditching all of the other great ways we have found to get training! What's your new-found fave "normal"?

04.01.2022 Don't forget it's Mother's Day this Sunday! ;) come along to the Caledonian grounds and lets get amongst the charity fundraiser for the Heart foundation ;) ill be taking the Zumba warm up so let's get moving and get happy!

03.01.2022 Junk food is BAAAAAAAD for your life! Shorter Lifespan: Letting your kitchen go dormant in favor of relying on processed foods could shave years off of your life. A 2012 study published in the journal Public Health Nutrition found that people who cooked at home at least five times a week were 47 more likely to be alive after 10 years than the people who relied more on processed foods.
