12.01.2022 'Hibiscus River' 102cm x 180cm acrylic & oil on canvas 'Hibiscus tiliaceus' commonly known as the Cotton Tree is found locally along the coast and river's edge. It's a favourite tree of mine and easily spotted by it's large yellow flowers that often turn red with age. It was a very important plant to the Indigenous people of the area. Used in herbal medicine, the inner bark used to make fishing nets and ropes and the wood for fire and shield making.

12.01.2022 sold ... and going to a lovely family in the UK ... I couldn’t be happier! ‘Hibiscus River’ ... here it is in my studio a few months back with discarded paint covered leaves from it’s ‘real life’ muse. The leaves provided the final marks to call it finished. (work in it’s entirety in previous post)
