13.01.2022 I have recently just posted a notice that I am not taking anymore commissions this year. I have completed 16 this year and most of them have been big!! I have been grateful and pleased to have had the opportunity and thank all the collectors. I want to try and explain the work involved in painting these to non artists. Apart from the practical difficulties due to the virus pandemic in sourcing a particular canvas size that has been requested and finding it constantly "out of... stock and dealing with unreliable couriers that don't show up cancelling asking for a refund rebooking. This all takes heaps of time and energy. Then there is preparing a quote and sorting out what the collector wants Then you paint to someone else's criteria style, colours, composition. You have to twist yourself inside out trying to determine what is wanted. You send a work in progress for approval. Sometimes the changes are big sometimes small. It's a process. Once I had to redo the whole painting. There are doubts at the beginning of the process, during the process then a waiting in hopeful anticipation for final approval. Then there is the packing which needs to be thorough because couriers don't care. This year has been exceptional I just finish one and I get another request finish that then there is another. So there hasn't been a break from the twisting up inside!! I have rambled on long enough feels like it's going to be a sleepless night!!!
