Life Cycle analysis is one way to determine the true impact of a product, service or other process. However this process can extend to a very large piece of work. ... The Sustainable Systems Method supports the idea of "Think Globally, Act Locally" but accepts we can only act within our own reach, only within "our sphere of influence". Each part of a system, or the whole system can have the "Sustainable Systems Method" applied. Where does your "Sphere of influence" end?. How can you extend your influence?

19.01.2022 Systems thinking is well served by looking at natural systems for inspiration. The environment, evolution even society are complex systems and thus a fertile ground for systems knowledge. Unlike more human endeavors, natural systems have evolved over very long periods of time, so written in the way they work are clues as to how all systems operate. Looking to ecology and the natural environment when designing is sometimes referred to as Bio-mimicry. The benefits come from this connection to time tested systems.

This allows us to take what we know about one system and apply it to another. Systems thinking can provide insights we could otherwise miss. Each new system we compare, helps us see both the differences and similarities between the systems, further developing our understanding. In time we learn to understa...nd systems as a whole, in some ways independent of which system we are observing. To some this may even seem magical, how could it be that the behaviour of bees may be related to building cities? The answer is actually quite simple, both bees and cities obey common laws of physics, chemistry and biology, so let's not be surprised they share principals.
