25.01.2022 New homes that are all-electric and have solar power will save their owners thousands of dollars compared to new homes with dual fuel (gas and electric) and no solar, according to a new report by Renew. The report found owners will be between $9,000-$16,000 better off over 10 years if they establish their new home as all-electric with a 5-kilowatt solar system rather than gas-electric with no solar. Wow! #cleanenergy

12.01.2022 Thank you for providing feedback on what you think we should do to reduce Council’s environmental impact, and how we can help you do the same. Your input will help shape a four-year strategy to meet our net zero emissions targets and make a difference We had a fantastic response to the consultation. Your feedback indicates that climate change is a genuine problem and that you recognise that your day to day habits have an impact on the environment. You talked about lots of ...ways that Council could help you to cut your carbon footprint and live more sustainably, including: cycling and walking infrastructure; supporting businesses to reduce single-use plastics and packaging; installing electric vehicle charging stations; and providing solar panel bulk-buy programs. Residents want Council to focus on renewable energy, biodiversity and urban forests, sustainable buildings and waste and recycling. Contributions to this consultation are now closed for evaluation and review. The draft strategy and action plan will be available for further input and review before Council endorsement. To stay updated on the project, visit www.haveyoursaygleneira.com.au/sustainability-strategy.
