25.01.2022 Today is Where Am I? Wednesday! We had some good guesses for our last mystery park, which was Furness Park in Blackburn! Furness Park makes up one of the three parks that form the Blackburn Creeklands which runs along Gardiners Creek. It is a beautiful spot for a walk and to appreciate our bushland areas. For this week's mystery park we have given you four ambiguous photos, making it a bit trickier! We have provided four clues, but see if you can find out where our par...k is without using any of the clues Clue #1: This park is in the eastern half of the city Clue #2: Its name is often confused with a road with a similar sounding name nearby Clue #3: This park has a bit of bushland as well as a tennis court and Guide hall Clue #4: Most of the bush area is re-growth after the mowing was intentionally stopped over 25 years ago Know where this is? Have you been here before? If you have any photos of this park post them in the comments! Lookout for the answer in our next Where Am I? Wednesday post

11.01.2022 Today is (usually) Where Am I? Wednesday! But today we're letting you know that Where Am I? Wednesday is going to be taking a well deserved break. We will be back in the New Year!... Last week's mystery park was a park that has only been newly acquired by Council, so new, it doesn't even have an official name yet! We have been calling it 21 Wattle Valley Road, Mitcham which is conveniently also it's address for anyone wishing to give it a visit. It is a spectacular park that creates a valuable corridor between Yarran Dheran Reserve and Antonio Park. Get out there and give it a visit! Please have a safe and happy break, and enjoy spending time with your loved ones, just like our Dusky Moorhen and Australian Wood Duck friends below. Happy holidays, and a spectacular New Year to you all!

If not, consider a sustainable alternative over a plastic tree, such as a home-made arrangement of branches or a native potted plant, which can then be planted rather than throw out after the festive season. 04.01.2022 We want your help to shape Melbourne’s response to climate change. The Victorian Government is seeking your contribution to develop Greater Melbourne’s Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy by sharing your views on the Melbourne’s Climate Journey Discussion Paper. The insights you provide about local climate change adaptation challenges, issues and concerns will inform this strategy and help secure Melbourne’s resilience against climate change. For more information v...isit https://engage.vic.gov.au/regional-climate-change-adaptatio. Share your views before Monday 7 December 2020. . . . . . . . Victoria is already experiencing the impacts of climate change; in recent years we’ve seen devastating bushfires, rising sea levels and more frequent extreme weather events. Alongside reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, developing a robust approach to adaptation is critical to building our resilience, and preparing our industries, communities and environments to be able to thrive with the future climate. One way the Victorian Government is supporting communities to adapt to climate change is through a $9.3 million commitment by the to develop Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategies. Taking a regionally-based, community-led approach to developing these strategies will ensure they reflect local challenges, opportunities and priorities, and capture the insights of the people who know these areas best.
