19.01.2022 - - IMO: INDIGENOUS MICRO ORGANISMS PART 1 - - The backbone of Korean Natural Farming & most other Natural Farming methods. This incredible process involves 'trapping' microbes on a basket of boiled rice placed in an old growth forest or dense tree'd area with plenty of leaf litter. What happens next is incredible, you get a huge mass of fungi and microbes innoculate the rice; creating a white fairy floss all over the rice which is a sign of healthy micro organisms populating... the rice. That is called IMO1 (the first stage). What you see in this picture is IMO2; stage two. This is where you mix equal parts brown sugar to the weight of the innolculated rice culture. From here you transfer to a jar for safe keeping. By adding the brown sugar you put the active micro organisms to sleep for long term storage. This is done by the way of osmotic pressure from the brown sugar. The micro organisms wake back up in the later stages of the IMO procedure. Stay tuned as we explore all the way to IMO5 and see how incredible this process is, from the small amount of IMO2 we need we can end up with very large quantities of fungal and microbe filled 'compost' and soil amendments; using the micro organisms that are present and suitable for your area & climate, which a lot of commercial composts fail to meet. We will dive in to the other amendments added to these 5 steps such as; OHN a Oriental Herbal Nutrient which is an alcohol tincture of beneficial herbs to help boost the immunity of a plant + FPJ, BRV, FAA all acronyms you will learn through this page Happy farming! #koreannaturalfarming #knf #organicgardening #organicbusiness #soilhealth #soilfoodweb #soillife #regenerativefarming #regenerativeagriculture #healthysoil

17.01.2022 Visited a good friends organic avocado & mango farm @viridityorganic last night at Kandanga. Great night watching the well needed storms roll in. 57mm recorded on the rain guage. Considering they only had 38mm for last years October month it's a great outcome. The great management of this farm has allowed for minimal run off and the soil has soaked it all in Now on my way in to a Natural Farming workshop North of Gympie on a fully functioning organic and natural farming Macadamia farm. Very excited to learn some new incredible skills and be surrounded by likeminded people #naturalfarming #naturalfarm #knf #organic #organicfarm #organicsoil #organicgrowing #farm #farming

15.01.2022 - - NATURAL FARMING WORKSHOP + NEW OPPORTUNITIES - - I had a fantastic day at the Bauple Park Farm. Learning all about the old knowledge and Natural Farming methods. We learnt from Kate the farm owner and operator. She was a wealth of knowledge on how she has implemented her Natural Farming skills that she has learnt directly from Eric Weinert from @naturalfarminghawaii and worked it in to her 40 acre Macadamia farm with approx 1800 trees. We learnt the process of the making ...IMO (Indigenous Micro Organisms) which involves capturing wild micro organisms and multiplying them in to a carbon and carbohydrate mix to create a soil amendment. This is called IMO3 (the 3rd stage). This IMO is the backbone of Korean Natural Farming. This innoculates the earth with beneficial microbes and fungi to create a beautiful symbiosis with the plants and soil micro organisms; allowing the correct nutrients to be exchanged between the microbes > fungi > tree roots. We learnt about building the immunity of tree crops using OHN a special blend of fermented and tinctured traditional asian herbs. This allows the health of the tree's and soil to be tip top! We dived in to the world of FPJ; Fermented Plant Juice. This is the extraction of the nutrients of plant matter to create a nutrient rich liquid assisting in the health of the soil and ofcourse the plant. There was fermented fish thrown in the mix as well, which used fish heads and bones to ferment in to a nitrogen rich liquid full of amino acids and enzymes. Kate showed us the process of making WSC; Water Soluble Calcium. To build strength in the plants and as always the soil. And to follow up all this. Kate & I have come to an arrangement where I will be the new intern on her farm. To learn more extensively the works of a commercial Natural Farming farm. This will give me a huge oppurtunity to learn Natural Farming to allow me to consult on future farms and urban plots to reverse the damage and improve the life of the soil below our feet. Feeling very inspired and lucky to have this opportunity come up. #naturalfarming #knf #organic #oganicfarm #naturalfarm #organicfarm #farming #organicbrisbane #organicbusiness

14.01.2022 - - ANEROBIC BOKASHI PILE - - Me and a good friend in Northern NSW have been playing around with some microbes for awhile now. Utilising all of the ancient and beautiful microbes around his large mountain top property. We have collected microbes in the form of old decomposed leaf mold from creek beds, high silica content black soil, red soil rainforest clay, cow manure, organic chook poo, vermicompost, hay, and then innoculated with a special indigenous microbe brew, Lactic A...cid Bacteria mixed with pond water (to make a DIY Bokashi liquid), some homemade fish emulsion & a mixture of lime and rock minerals to top it all off! We will come back 8 weeks later and see the results. We are hoping to have a stable, microbially dense and well innoculated compost pile. No turning, no offgassing like traditional aerobic piles My friend will use this to amend his soils and I will bring some back to Brisbane to trial it out locally #compost #bokashicomposting #anerobic #naturalfarming #composting #compostpile #microbes #soilhealth #soilfoodweb #soil
