24.01.2022 4 DAYS to AUSTRALIAN POLLINATOR WEEK 8th-15th Nov I plan on sharing everyday a pollinator that calls Imprint Farms home. What insect pollinator’s other than bees do you have in your yard ??

24.01.2022 If your a visitor to out place you would have seen we have been working on feature gardens and visual aspects while keeping in mind the purpose of the area.. todays project was to reuse a few gifted old gates, an amazing windmill head from a BSS page, native mulch from the power line clean up crews ! Planted out with loads of fun gravilleas, bottle brush and salt bush. This was also a ripper project to do with my sister Nic and Sarah. We’re all impressed how a messed up are...a of corrugated iron, junk and old crap has turned into a ripper space to feed bees, invite native birds in and a spot the drop tail Liz adds can lay their eggs in safety. Really looking forward to seeing this space flower and plan on a massive steel sign on the shed wall of Imprint Farms logo! Love a project LOVE the revamped space

24.01.2022 Thought we had eaten the last of the cauliflower’s... sneaky surprises are a treat What’s your gardening plan’s this weekend? We’re finishing off a few areas for tomatoes, strawberries and bee friendly plantings

18.01.2022 When it’s too warm inside the house and cooler outside Keith and Nanna hang out in the gardens while Mummy & Daddy go for a swim at the beach! Strawberries are absolutely on point this year ! when l didn’t take a dish to the berry patch I used my Akubra as a bucket- best part about having a rather large head is that my hat holds a bloody lot of berries ! Mr. & Mrs. Cheese & Quacker’s our Khaki Campbell snail slayers hang out for the slug damaged berries, very popular treat ... a great reward for them and I don’t have to use snail bait. Tomatoes are shaping up well and another 30 odd to plant out this week - Tommy Toe, Tigerella and a few I’ve seed collected but no names. Purple and yellow bush Beans, snow peas, broccoli & late onions are loving the warmer soil and intermittent showers. First time tonight l have started the sprinklers on the lawns and flower beds, going to be a long warm summer of BBQ’s, good home grown food, baby Keith growing and spending time with his Nanna in the gardens, bee keeping and enjoying the finished projects we have worked so hard on all of 2020 the years of stay home and get shit done !

15.01.2022 The promise of amazing homegrown pears from our family home orchard- Fowlers Jars lining shelves for winter desserts or over porridge for breakfast. Fowlers Jars that have been used over the years by my Mum, Nanna and myself. The stories they could tell of holding the abundance of our veggie garden produce preserved and feeding our families. Little farm lad Keith will love his first taste of mashed pears with no preservatives, chemicals or pesticides. ... Farm fresh, farm living, farm grown

12.01.2022 A veggie garden as large as ours takes a lot of maintenance and planning..... l love companion planting and have veggies & flowers all mingled together, marigolds fixing soil nematodes, comfrey adding nutrients & soil conditioning, herbs let go to flower to encourage pollinators and beneficial bugs, veggie seedlings planted with like minded friends that share the same nutrient needs. Planting’s of low under story plants like strawberries & other berries under fruit trees to ...conserve space and moisture... love the title this gains -Food Forest- another l like is the ‘3 Sisters’ where l have planted corn, beans and pumpkins. All supporting or providing the environment 3 sisters need. Sometimes l just pop a few plants together and see what happens... this was capsicum and sunflowers a few years back..... the capsicums were going gang busters till the sunflower’s roots suppressed the growth of the capsicum & nearly killed the plants, l moved and liquid fertilised the capsicum from which they bounced back and produced a ripper crop. You can’t tell what the seasons are Going to bring from year to year but every year we plant tomatoes and pray we have that first red tomato before others so we have bragging rites I plan on bragging around Christmas time about my tomatoes

11.01.2022 A summer favourite from the Imprint Farms kitchen is a good veggie fritter ! Crisp outer layer and a fluffy fresh veggie filled middle. We love it with a heritage tomato salsa with garden fresh herbs. Even better is that all this amazing fresh food was in our veggie patch half an hour before l started making dinner. CORN & ZUCCHINI FRITTERS (8) ... 2 cups grated zucchini 2 cups fresh corn Kernels 3 farm fresh eggs 3 spring onions sliced finely 1 teaspoons Garam masala powder or to taste 1/2 cup organic plain flour 1 teaspoon baking powder Salt & pepper Add everything to a large dish and gently fold till combined, add a little milk if you feel the mixture is too dry. Heat a large frying pan on low heat, add a little organic olive oil, heap 2 dessert spoons of fritter mixture per fritter and gently press down a little. Cook 2-3 min each side and set aside while you cook a little bacon to serve each person (everyone loves a bacon right!) Now this amazing summer salsa Take your summer ripened heritage tomatoes remove the seeds and rough chop, add a cucumber to that mix and a good handful of garden herbs like parsley, spring onion and basil, toss the lot in a good showering of salt and pepper... lastly add your Nanna’s spoon to serve the salsa as we all love nostalgic moments right? So back to fritter’s HOW GOOD DO THEY LOOK! l can assure you they are really good and even better cold the next day !!

11.01.2022 FIRST OF THE 2020 CORN HAS BEEN PLANTED Summer screams of whole corn on the cob charred up with Chilli and lashings of local Homerton Olive oil on the BBQ grill plate served with a bloody good steak and fresh garden salad straight from the veg patch half an hour before. Growing your own, starting from seeds you have organically purchased give me 100% food security knowing where my families food has come from and how it is going to affect our health and well being. ... Soil at Imprint Farms is grown right here too with our own farm animals manures, microbial fungi developed from cultures developed in our kitchen. Looks like l will need a few mates over to taste test this crop as l plan it to be a cracker !!

10.01.2022 HOW TIME FLIES BY..... last few weeks have been about bee’s, baby and gardens... looking back we have achieved so much and the days feel like we have done so little to say we have done something... you know what l mean right???? Most of the tomatoes are planted, were harvesting lots of greens, herbs, sugar loaf cabbage and zucchini. Dogs are happy, baby Keith is happy, plans are making their way to reality with a side ways twist - berry patch wasn’t moved or pruned so we ha...ve a massive entwined berry patch and planted tomatoes in the planned berry patch, strawberry tanks we have gone with pic #4 for accessibility, sweet potato’s still don’t have a spot to be planted out... BUT kept the barter system alive with Will from #homegrownbackyard and his rotary hoe digging up an area for the corn patch, swapped him bagged up horse & pig poo. To say we’re ahead of our game this year is exactly where we are food production wise, it’s unreal 80% of our veg is planted by saved seed, grown in the hothouse by me ! Setting up a lifestyle area the same size of the average back yard to showcase urban gardening too inspire others has been my side project. Popped a bee hive in the space over the weekend and thinking about a few bantam chickens. Planning an open day early 2021 as soon as this COVID pisses off !! Bring on the sunshine and long summer days of family and gardening

07.01.2022 Goats cheese and Imprint Farms quince chilli jelly piled onto fresh made sourdough crackers for arvo tea kinda day. Sourdough starter has been somewhat neglected these past weeks but l’ve kicked it into gear and experimental loaves of roasted wattle seeds -chocolate flavour- & our last of the dark full bodied honey, looking forward to this bake taste test.

This project started 18 months ago in a fowlers jar in the farms kitchen on the window sill, lovingly l chatted to this tuber while l washed dishes, l waited patiently for signs that it was keen to grow and shoot... one morning it had a teany tiny green shoot it was celebrated with a Sunday breakfast G&T !! So today was the day after what felt like a bloody long time and bein...g forgetful as l left it outside to harden off before planting the poor struggling tuber was hit by frost!! I nearly cried when l realised of left it outside the hothouse!!! Planting my prize out into a big deep up cycled gal twin water tank and NOW another big wait too see if lm successful with this sweet potato growing jig !!!
