23.01.2022 Today is #worldenvironment day, also referred to as #ecoday or simply #environmentday. Whatever name you wish to call it, the message is clear and more important than it was when it was first established in 1974. To care for humanity, we must care #fornature There are many small changes that you can adopt to make a huge difference. Changes can be as simple as, choosing sustainable products, supporting small business, purchasing second-hand, knowing your brands, repairing inst...ead of replacing, recycling better or just increasing your knowledge for you and those that surround you. As we work to build back from the exceptional events that have plagued 2020 so far, let's all do our part to build it back better than it was before. #togetherwecan

22.01.2022 Amazing news! South Australia will become the first Australian state to ban single use plastic such as plastic straws, cutlery, and drink stirrers under a plan announced by the state government. Legislation will be drafted to ban the single-use items this year before introducing the bill to parliament in 2020. Let's hope the other states follow suit! Make to follow us to receive news and updates. 22.01.2022 With an increasing amount of waste and harmful carbon emissions produced by the fashion industry, it's become more important than ever to make better decisions about the clothing we purchase. Find out how much your closet contributes to climate change by using ThredUP's fashion footprint calculator. Link below:... https://www.thredup.com/fashionfootprint

21.01.2022 Make recycling easy! A triple bin/recycling system can make it a lot easier for you to put things in the right bin. At @sustainabros our indoor bin consists of one for general waste, one for recycling and one for soft plastics (RED Group #redcycle), with a separate counter bin for compostable items.... Outside, we have 3 separate crates for glass bottles, cans and plastic bottles (all of our 10c refunds will go towards not-for-profits and charities). Check out the resources below if you're not sure which bin you're meant to be using for certain items. You may be surprised! 21.01.2022 #Repost @clarepress Posted @withrepost @marion.hume A factory making school bags. The dead include child workers who should be in school. Cheap comes at too high a price. You actually CAN do something about this. Buy what you love, what will last, and ask, always ask; WHO MADE MY CLOTHES. #Repost @fash_rev with @get_repost... Early this morning, it was reported that a fire in a Delhi factory killed at least 43 victims, most of whom were migrant labourers asleep on the factory floors throughout the night. This tragedy intersects the systemic issues of migrant labour, building safety and regulation, as the factory is thought to have been operating illegally, with multiple unsecure wires ready to catch ablaze. According to the @MFO_WorkerDiaries 12% of garment factory workers in India reported having seen at least one fire in their current workplace. Too often in the clothing supply chain, garment workers are made to stay and work overtime hours when production targets have not been met, as may have been the case for this school bag making factory. Then, when the work is done, workers are often made to sleep on the factory floors as it isnt safe for them to journey home in the dark. As well, with the youngest victim reported to be aged 13, this loss of life also touches on the tragic issue of child labour. Across the spectrum of transgressions that lead to this disaster, transparency is the missing thread. Without transparency, brands, factories, and operations even further down the supply chain can continue to pervade a system of injustice. In the wake of this tragedy, rather than feel helpless, lets ask brands #WhoMadeMyClothes? and demand that the fashion industry put an end to exploitation. #FashionRevolution See more

18.01.2022 Today is #worldenvironmentday - Beginning in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is celebrated all over the world. Each year represents a different theme. The theme for 2019 is #AirPollution. Although a complex subject, there are things that we can all do as individuals to help. Scroll through the pictures for a brief description 5 of the leading culprits of Air Pollution, then visit www.worldenvironmentday.global to learn what you c...an do to help. #worldenvironmentday2019 #earth #nature #saveourplanet #protectwhatyoulove #breakfreefromplastic #resistplastic #moreoceanlessplastic #plasticfree #protecttheocean #connect #togetherpossible #plasticpollution #plasticfree #ocean #newdealfornature #animal #savetheearth #wearthemmask #environmentday #stopairpollution #bethechange #savetheworld #stopemission #future #ourfuture #sustainabros

18.01.2022 Today is the final day of #plasticfreejuly. Did you know that over 30 million toothbrushes end up in Australian landfills every year? That's 1000 tonnes of landfill that won't break down in our lifetime...or many lifetimes! Even when they do, they break down into microplastics that will end up in our oceans. A swap as simple as a plastic to bamboo toothbrush reduces the time it takes to break down from hundreds of years (or, if at all) to 4-6 months (depending on composition...). To help you on the home stretch, scroll through our images to find 5 simple swaps that can be made in your bathroom to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in landfill and in our oceans.

17.01.2022 Sustainabros representatives attended the Climate Action strike today in Adelaide and Melbourne. Incredibly inspiring seeing the young ones stand up for what's important. 16.01.2022 Happy New Year folks! Although lot of us are now returning to the workplace after the Xmas and New Years break, that doesn't mean that we need to put a halt to all the sustainable practices we've worked so hard to adapt into our home. While a lot of what goes into making your workplace greener is up to management and decision-makers, a lot of the tips below are small things that you can do to make a difference, and hopefully encourage others to do the same.... View the link below for an article on '10 Tips for a more sustainable workplace' https://linktr.ee/Sustainabros #sustainablity #sustainablechoices #sustainableworkplace

16.01.2022 In the spirit of the #plasticfreejuly challenge, we will be sharing our ideas from some of the Sustainabros team this month on how to reduce your single-use plastic in the home and workplace and where to find some great alternatives. If youd like to join us in the challenge, you can sign up to the Plastic Free July initiative via the link below. https://www.plasticfreejuly.org/... #plasticfreejulychallenge #plasticfree #ecoswaps #sustainability

16.01.2022 As part of #melbournefashionweek, Sustainabros attended a panel discussion today on the sustainable business opportunities the sharing economy model can bring to fashion. __ Once considered a novel approach in the industry, consumers are using online clothing rental platforms and organised swap/exchange events to change the way we consume fashion. __... In Australia alone, 6,000 kilograms of clothing and textiles are being disposed of every 10 minutes. It is more important than ever that these avenues are explored in order to breathe new life into our clothing and to save them from landfill. #sustainability #fashion #slowfashion #clothingexchange #recycling #rentdontbuy #minimalism

15.01.2022 As a long time bubble tea fanatic, it always bothered me how much plastic is used in each drink, the cup, the cover, the straw and even the carrying bags offered. Even opting out of the plastic straw and using a reusable metal straw still results in ALOT of single use plastic. Turns out there are stores in Victoria that offer bubble tea in a reusable keep cup! Good on ya @Chachatea... Let's hope some of the bigger chains like @gongcha @chatime follow this trend! 15.01.2022 A little late but just stumbled upon @donutsdept that sold these koala themed donuts in their local Osaka, Japan to help raise money for the wildlife that were affected during our devastating bushfires in Australia. It's been truly heartwarming to see people of all nations band together to help one another. #thankyou #arigato... Credit to @zerowaste.japan for the photos and information!

14.01.2022 Sustainabros has always been an advocate of utilising skills and interests to create a better future for the planet and those currently in need. As a side project, a member of the Sustainabros put their cooking skills to good use and joined individuals in the Vietnamese community to make various meals for those in need, as well as selling the food to people in their local community. All proceeds from the cooked meals have been distributed to various charities in Vietnam that ...are assisting with the elderly and disabled who are unable to afford the bare essentials. To check out some of the food that has been made and more importantly, the deliveries that have been dispersed to those most vulnerable in Vietnam, please swipe for photos. This has always been something that has hit close to home for us and seeing these photos has been incredibly heart-warming. #steamedbun #bahnbao #vietnam #saigon #vietnamese #helpvietnam #weareallone #charity #charityvietnam #foodforcharity #wecanallhelp #oneplanet #endpoverty #vietnamesfood #saigonstyle #vietnamfood

13.01.2022 South Australia leading the way! SA has become the first in Australia to pass laws to ban single-use plastic products, including straws, cutlery and beverage stirrers with potentially more to be added to the list in the near future. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the State Government advises that the new rules will be enforced in 2021.... Let's chalk that up as a WIN!

12.01.2022 This is a awesome! Let's hope more places start offering this along with Trashless Takeaway!

11.01.2022 Black Friday is certainly an exciting time of the year and there are no-doubt going to be some great deals to be had. With that said, it's important to be reminded to make conscious ethical decisions about our purchases. 08.01.2022 October 12th 12.05pm (Grid Time/AEST) marks a major milestone for South Australia! The combination of both rooftop and utility scale solar has met 100 per cent of the energy demand in South Australia. Although immediate demand only lasted for two hours, we see this as a big step in the right direction! Thank you @reneweconomy for sharing the news. 06.01.2022 I don't think there's ever been a promotion that spoke so directly to us Sustainabros! @corona are giving away a free stainless steel bottle in Australia with every purchase of a Corona carton! The packaging helps to raise awareness about the amount of plastic entering and polluting our Australian waterways. In short, drink beers, use less plastic and get a funky stainless water bottle while you're at it to help you reduce the amount of single use plastic you use!

05.01.2022 Some absolutely amazing news on the recycling front this morning! South Australia has inked a new $30m deal with the Federal Government to build new recycling centres and to create new jobs. Australia has also vowed to stop sending unprocessed waste, plastic, paper, glass and tyres overseas in an effort to develop a circular economy. We look forward to hearing the announcement from David Speirs MP later today!... Photo Credit - Magda Ehlers (Pexels) #southaustralia #recycling #sustainability

04.01.2022 Slightly unrelated post but the Sustainabros would like to pay its respects to Kobe Bryant, his daughter and everyone else on the helicopter that tragically took their lives today. The two co-founders of Sustainabros have been life long basketball fans. Our friendship started in high school on the basketball court. Fast forward many years later and everyone weekend you would find us hanging out, watching the basketball together and like many others, yelling 'Kobe!' everytime ...we threw something at a target. Although Kobe was always a fierce rival of our supported teams, his greatness, contribution to the game, his family and society can never be questioned. #RIPKOBE We hope you and Gianna taking names on the big court in the sky. #24 #kobe #kobebryant
