22.01.2022 A citizen science project for everyone: To help with an important global study of light pollution, the Globe at Night project is asking everyone to record observations of the stars from now until 7 March, and from 27 March to 5 April. Details are here: http://lossofthenight.blogspot.com//can-we-get-2000-globe- To participate, go to https://www.globeatnight.org/webapp/ and record your observations. The more observations, the better.

To participate you must have a telescope of binoculars for each person. You can either bring your own or buy an inexpensive telescope for $7.15 each when registering. Details and registration at our event Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/594953014189473/

16.01.2022 Disappointing but understandable. Thanks to the committees for their work to date.

14.01.2022 August 2019 Open Nights a Success Despite the Antarctic conditions caused by the polar vortex, we had a good turnout on both nights. It could be argued the weather helped in one way, and that was by keeping the queues for the big telescopes relatively short, while keeping the skies mostly clear for observing. Thanks to the members for helping out, and thanks to the public for attending. Everyone seemed to have a good time looking through telescopes, listening to lectures, and dressing up for Outer Limits Space Selfies! My greatest hope is that as well as having some fun, we may have inspired some kids to take up careers in science and engineering.
