24.01.2022 CALLING ALL YOUNG ADULTS Get keeeeen as Young Adults meets the great outdoors. We will be going on another walk together on Sunday the 15th of November, so pls mark that date down in your diaries and invite all your friends! We will meet at the car park at the end of Cape Solander Drive @ 1.45pm and then make our way along the Cape Baily Lighthouse track to the Lighthouse and then head back and hopefully be back at the car park around 4-4.15ish. It’s a super refreshing an...d pretty walk so pls come along if you can! We are super keen to see all of you there! 15.01.2022 People of SRC: Mark ~What fills your days during the week? I work for a packaging company in the Shire, so that takes care of the working week. I look forward to Saturdays when I tend to catch up on jobs around the house.... ~How long have you been coming to Sutherland Reformed Church? A long time, over 35 years. I joined the church when I moved down from Qld as a country boy coming to the big smoke. It's become my home and family. ~What has God been teaching you/encouraging you in this season? I have been very thankful to God for having a full time job during this season. It could easily have been different. He has been very gracious to me, so I acknowledge his goodness and blessings. ~Favourite hobby? I’m rebuilding a VW Beetle so I've enjoyed having some extra time to make some progress on it. ~Favourite book? Also at the moment I'm reading a book and watching the accompanying DVD by Tim Challies called Epic. Tim has travelled the world finding curious objects that point to historical places and events in the history of Christianity. ~Favourite bible verse and why? I 've always loved the passage at the end of John 21 where Jesus reinstates Peter. Peter had denied and left Jesus before his death. Then here Jesus forgives him and restores the relationship. It's another instance of God's great love and mercy.

14.01.2022 People of SRC: Martin ~ What fills your days during the week? I work full time in finance, and love spending time with my wife and son, there isn’t much time left after that . We are expecting another baby soon so life will get even busier!... ~ How long have you been coming to Sutherland Reformed Church? I have been coming to the Church since 2003. ~ What has God been teaching you/encouraging you in the season? God has been repeatedly teaching me that I do not know His word as well as I should, and that I need to trust and rely on Him more. It is very comforting to know that He will supply all I need, and that He is much wiser than me. ~ Favourite hobby? I like trying out new hobbies, I am the type of person that dabbles in many things. I think I like the process of learning more than the hobby itself! I enjoy running regularly as well. ~ Favourite bible verse and why? My favourite verse is 1 Peter 2:6. Just prior Peter writes that Jesus is building us up as a spiritual house, and then our verse states that if we believe in Him we will not be put to shame. This melding of Jesus work and our response is special to me. I also like that it is already a quote from the Old Testament (Isaiah 28:16), and therefore doubly true.

12.01.2022 People of SRC: Lisa ~What fills your days during the week? Mostly housework, baking, shopping, taking care of my children and looking after my animals (my dog, Scout, my chickens and two budgies) takes up most of my time each week. I also work as a health check professional on the side. It is great having busy days, but my favourite times of the week are Sundays with church and every Tuesday fortnight with KYB (Know Your Bible). We just recently resumed KYB in person last wee...k which was excellent. ~How long have you been coming to Sutherland Reformed Church? I have been coming to Sutherland Reformed Church for 30+ years, basically for my whole married life. ~What has God been teaching you/encouraging you in this season? Last week, Psalm 119:114 encouraged me as it reminded me of the hiding place and shield God is and the hope we find in His Word. Luke 6:35 has also challenged me to love my enemies and to do good to them, expecting nothing in return. Even though I fall far short of God’s standard it blows me away that he provides forgiveness to me on a daily basis. How thankful I am that I can know God and that he loves me despite my many failings. ~Favourite book? The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. ~Favourite Bible verse and why? Jeremiah 29:11 which states ‘For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope’ and verse 13 ‘You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.’ What an assurance and promise this is! He is indeed a great and loving God.

11.01.2022 People of SRC: Jasmine ~ What fills your days during the week? Up until recently my days were filled with uni assignments, exams and placements. But I have just finished my Occupational Therapy degree (Woohoo!) so have spent the last few weeks catching up with friends and random things around the house which has been such a nice change! ... ~ How long have you been coming to Sutherland Reformed Church? Since I was about 2 years old I think! ~ What has God been teaching you/encouraging you in the season? God has definitely been teaching me to trust him with all the unknowns of life, because he is in control and is a good good father! ~Favourite hobby? It sounds a bit dumb and boring but I really like organising and sorting things out! It's so satisfying and therapeutic!! ~ Favourite bible verse and why? The classic Romans 8:28. Knowing that God works all things - even the really bad and sad things in this world - for the good of those who love him is the biggest comfort to me.
