25.01.2022 I hope you all follow BCNA page because this webinar looks very relevant for many in our group . But just incase you don't follow BCNA , I will share/copy paste their post below.Usually you can also watch it online after the event but you loose that opportunity to ask questions and interact. Webinar next Monday Nov 30, 2020 10:30 AM... Some breast cancer treatments have menopausal-like side effects, while others, especially chemotherapy, can cause menopause to occur earlier than it otherwise would. The Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), with support from BCNA, is hosting a free webinar on early menopause associated with breast cancer. Hear from Assoc Prof Amanda Vincent (Endocrinologist), Assoc Prof Jacqueline Boyle (Gynaecologist & Obstetrician) and Dr Kate Johnston-Ataata (Health Sociologist). BCNA Consumer Rep Tania Cercone will speak about her own experience of early menopause following breast cancer treatment. You can register for the webinar at: https://bit.ly/36DVHTe You can also submit questions prior to the webinar.

14.01.2022 Wow things look different at St George Private . But it was 14 years ago since i had chemo there. I did enjoy the chats & commeraderie with other chemo patients as all the chairs faced inwards & your stuck there for many hours. Looks like now its more individual booths. On ya Kim for lending your voice once again to the community .... Sad there is such a huge need. Research for better cures! Early detection saves lives. Tretaments to extend, surpress cancer & improve quality of life See more

11.01.2022 Our first SLSG Zoom meeting is next Tuesday Nov 17 at 11.30am with guest speaker, Liane O’Brien, Senior Physiotherapist Lymphedema Services at St George Hospita...l. "Managing Lymphoedema this year: Issues from the frontline at St George Hospital This zoom is for anyone on this Sutherland LO support group email list, male & female, primary & secondary diagnosed or caring for, living in Sutherland Shire, St George or surrounding areas of Sydney , Australia. It is to test the interest to use Zoom & connect, online, of those who used to come or who expressed interest in the group that precovid met at Cronulla RSL club. Liane has extensive professional experience and is a dedicated and active advocate of improving services, research and resources for lymphoedema sufferers. This has been a demanding year for therapists, generating incredible pressure to adapt and manage risks for themselves and their clients while continuing to provide essential services. We have asked Liane to tell us about her experiences this year, and that of her patients. Liane’s male and female patients come with the full range of Lymphoedema presentations initiated at birth, or from different cancers, injuries and surgeries. What are the challenges in this year of Covid-19 at Liane’s workplace, one of the largest and busiest centres for lymphoedema services in Southern Sydney? Do you have any questions to ask Liane about managing your own lymphoedema and keeping it in control with the virus still out there? Please send them in early to this group cooordinaters email [email protected] and she will forward them to Liane so she can consider them before the meeting. Photo of Liane, on the right, with SL support group member Cheryl ,who has been helping coordinate SLSG activities . When they were at the CanAct Saving Life pre election campaign Sutherland Feb 2019 rasing awareness for the need to increase lymphoedema services in NSW.
11.01.2022 I like this animation that shows the fuzzy head unraveling and clouds lifting after a chat. Talk therapy visualized. With almost everyone's Christmas turned upside down on top of everything else , make sure you talk to family and friends about your feelings to calmly vent and process your emotions and encourage others ,stay active and busy, make new plans and have a plan B and plan c because no one can predict the future.(Except the big man upstairs) Plan for the worst and hope for the best .

This Vodafone Pink Test won't be exactly the same as it has been in previous years and we won't be able to have our entire Pink Army of volunteers out in full force. However, we have an exciting new challenge to help you bring the magic of the Pink Test your New Year. We invite you all the Step Up for McGrath Breast Care Nurses this January! Will you Step Up for the almost 20,000 Aussies diagnosed with breast cancer every year? Instead of walking laps of the SCG, take to your neighbourhood and cover 20,000 steps for each day of the Vodafone Pink Test! Volunteering at the Vodafone Pink Test Like most things in 2020 the safety of our volunteers is front of mind. If there's any chance of having our Pink Army at the Pink Test we'll make sure you're the first to know! When you register to take part in the Step Up challenge you'll also have the opportunity to express your interest to be on ground at the Pink Test. While we can't make any promises, we hope we'll see you there!
