I have had s...ome enquiries about teens joining their parents for this session which I am open to. We will be dropping into the restful and mindful space of Yin Yoga during this 90 minute workshop on Sunday Dec 13. I will guide you through a Yin asana practice, grounding and breath practices to re-centre your nervous system. We will explore letting go of all that we have been holding that no longer serves us, honouring the lessons of 2020 and preparing for new beginnings! Perhaps feelings of overwhelm or feeling numb, confused or shut down have arisen? Then Trauma Sensitive Yoga could be for you. It’s a gentle practice where lots of choice is given to begin moving towards comfort in your own body incorporating information on the Nervous System and stress management strategies. 10.01.2022 Govinda Valley Retreat is a yoga and meditation center located one hour south of Sydney, at the foot of the Royal National Park. Our community runs yoga retrea...ts and pampers guests with delicious vegan meals, inspiring workshops, yoga classes, and sangha. We are currently looking for enthusiastic and happy volunteers to join our family, who are keen to contribute to this community and share their gifts with us and our guests. When volunteering, you are invited to participate in the daily program as much or as little as you like and as your service allows you to however you are not expected to. Volunteers receive accommodation and 3 vegan meals in exchange for their time and service. Usually, you would work 6 hours per day, 5 days a week. 01.01.2022 One of the ideas we explored in our recent Mindfulness for Teens workshop was ‘leaves on a stream’. Helpful for busy minds, during a meditation practice or wh...en we can get caught up in negative or worried thoughts. Take each thought that enters your mind and place it on a leaf let it float by. Do this with each thought, pleasurable, painful, or neutral. If your thoughts momentarily stop, continue to watch the stream. Sooner or later, your thoughts will start up again. Pause 20 seconds. Allow the stream to flow at its own pace. Don’t try to speed it up and rush your thoughts along. You’re not trying to rush the leaves along or get rid of your thoughts. You are allowing them to come and go at their own pace. If your mind says This is dumb, I’m bored, or I’m not doing this right place those thoughts on leaves, too, and let them pass. Pause 20 seconds. If a leaf gets stuck, allow it to hang around until it’s ready to float by. If the thought comes up again, watch it float by another time. Pause 20 seconds. If a difficult or painful feeling arises, simply acknowledge it. Say to yourself, I notice myself having a feeling of boredom/impatience/frustration. Place those thoughts on leaves and allow them float along. From time to time, your thoughts may hook you and distract you from being fully present in this exercise. This is normal. As soon as you realise that you have become sidetracked, gently bring your attention back to the visualisation exercise. Adapted from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Mindfulness scripts.
