25.01.2022 We have had a busy week this week celebrating NAIDOC week! Here is a small taste of what has been happening in the kindergarten class. #alwayswasalwayswillbe



21.01.2022 An important COVID-19 update Following recent advice from NSW Health, the Department of Education NSW is implementing additional safety measures for school activities. These have been put in place to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission in schools for the remainder of Term 3. All students and staff are NOT to attend school if they are unwell, even if they have mild symptoms. School needs to sight negative COVID test results and students and staff must be symptom f...ree before being allowed to return to school Group singing/chanting and playing of wind instruments in groups are no longer permitted therefore choir and band rehearsals are cancelled for the remainder of term 3 School assemblies will continue but are limited to 15 minutes. There will be no external visitors including parents and carers and no singing, chanting or wind instrument performances Parent/Teacher meetings will be by phone with exceptions made for essential meetings regarding behaviour and wellbeing Parents are not to enter school grounds without an appointment. 21.01.2022 Thank you Grandparents Grandparents have always had a special role to play at our school. Each Grandparent Day, family members or special friends have given their time to visit our school, see their grandchildren in their special environment and take that opportunity for both grandparents and children to share stories of school days. Grandparents have always been great book buyers too! At our annual Grandparents Book sale, every book purchased adds to our book collection mai...ntaining choice, variety and quality for everyone to enjoy. This year our book sale is virtual to enable our grandparents to continue the tradition of encouraging reading by purchasing books online. Thank you Grandparents.

19.01.2022 Hip, hip hooray for Pizza Day! We have celebrated the first day of spring with a delicious pizza lunch. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who worked so hard to make this happen. Organising a school lunch like this within COVID restrictions is no easy thing. We truly appreciate the time and effort put in to make this happen. I hope the smiles on the faces of the students and teachers showed you how much we appreciate your hard work. We also send a huge shout out of thanks to Eagle Hawk Hotel for supplying such delicious pizza.

19.01.2022 Connections to places Today in geography 1/2R have had some interesting conversations. We discussed and identified what connections we have to other countries. We then pinned on the world map where our connections come from. How lucky we are to have so many connections to such a variety of countries and cultures! Lauren Reilly l Classroom Teacher

18.01.2022 Saving our superb parrot This morning, Dr Damon Oliver visited our school to teach us about the superb parrot. 16.01.2022 Over the last few weeks, years one and two have been learning to write a biography. From Anh Do to Jane Goodall, our students have been busy sharing facts about the lives of people from across the world in their writing. 12.01.2022 What terrific fun was had at the Year 6 Fun-raiser! From a gumboot yeet to a petting zoo, and everything in between! Enormous fun was had by all. Thank you Year 6 and stage 3 teachers!

11.01.2022 And the winners are... Thank you to everyone who supported the Sutton P&C Photo Competition. A shout out of thanks to the competition organisers and judges too. 76 entries were received across the three themes: community coming together, pets and animals, pictures in nature. Entries were judged in four divisions: K-2, 3-4, 5-6 and teachers, parents and community. The judges awarded first place and runners-up, and an overall winner. A people’s choice was also awarded. ... 06.01.2022 Continuing our learning together - Sutton’s Satellite Selfie Have you ever taken a selfie? What if you could take one from space? Wonder no more because during National Science Week this August we will be taking a selfie from space at Sutton Public School! During National Science Week this year, a satellite will fly over the ACT and surrounding area and will capture an image of as much of Canberra and the people in it as possible to create a time-capsule image of Australia's... Capital from above. Our school will be creating a very large image of the superb parrot that will be seen from space. The superb parrot is an endangered species in our area and we want to send up an SOS to save our superb parrot. The flyover will occur three times on Mon Aug 17, Wed Aug 19, and Fri Aug 21 between 10am and 11am. Keep an eye for our fantastic photo! Laurel Clark

05.01.2022 Double dough days! 1/2R have had some fun in the last two days with salt dough. We have been learning how to write a procedure with a series of steps, then follow it and make sure that those steps lead to a final product. 04.01.2022 Kindergarten’s 100 Day (plus a few) Party Kindergarten were super excited to finally be celebrating their 100 days of school with a belated party yesterday. We decorated the classroom with balloons and streamers, played a few party games, and had a blast dancing to our favourite songs. Despite the colder weather and lack of sunshine, we couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces and finished up our party by enjoying a delicious icy pole. Hayley Steele l Classroom Teacher

02.01.2022 Sutton’s superb satellite selfie Sutton’s students worked hard last week to paint large sheets of paper that would come together to make an image of the superb parrot that could be seen from space. The superb parrot is an endangered bird in our region and we wanted to send a message up to space to save our beautiful bird. ... This morning teachers and students, together with Dr Damon Oliver and Alex, worked super fast to create our image on the top court. It all came together with seconds to spare.
