This was the biggest and final installation of this artwork and was the project's third appearance for commemorations. The first being Anzac Day 2017 in Brisbane at Anzac Square, adorning Grand Central Hotel. No 2. being in Pozieres,. France for the opening of Australia's first international war memorial for service animals and vets. The Kan...garoo Point project was the largest effort and was made possible by the support + DVA grant from @terributlermp , efforts of @churchieart who supported the proposal and inclusion within the Churchie IB diploma program, junior school boys and Australian Defence Force Cadets. 16.01.2022 Outdoor bath - this is my escape and what I wake up to and see everyday. I love this time of year as my Stephanotis (Madagascar Jasmine) is in full bloom and the fragrance is simply divine. It brings butterflies and they waft gently and serenely through my house. At night, an owl comes to visit to snapple up moths drunk from the nectar. There's nothing quite like a moonlit bath or having a bath during a rain shower or even watching the city fireworks.... Highly recommend connecting with nature with all your senses. We punched through the roof, took ownership of this extra level and converted it into a massive roof terrace with it's own plunge pool and covered entertaining space.... This was an exciting project. It was published in print several times and rated as Top 10 Apartments for 2012. The 3 apartments were refurbished to suit each owners requirements as well as completely transforming the 1980s exterior. 05.01.2022 Curiosity got the better of me and I invited myself into this magnificent historic Brisbane residence the other day - Ross Roy Villa, Harts Rd, Indooroopilly. Loved the master craftsmanship, the imported original stove, hand painted tiles, grand staircase and amazing stain glass windows!! The house was built in 1897 for Daniel Collings, a tea merchant, and his family.... Designed by Claude Chambers, a renowned architect of the period. Example of Federation style architecture. Passed to the Munro Family around 1910, it was given its current name and used as the family residence as well as the setting for several charitable functions. The house, with six acres of land, was sold to the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1945 and repurposed as a secondary Lutheran school. Lessons commenced Wednesday 21 February 1945, with 6 teaching staff and 56 pupils. All students were borders at that time. The girls had their rooms on the top floor verandas and the boys had their rooms in an existing shed in the grounds. The Federation characteristics exhibited on the exterior of the Collings’ residence include the Marseilles tiled roof with its crested ridge and complex structure of finial-capped gables, gablets and polygonal roofs. The walls of tuck pointed red brickwork are typical of the 1880s Queen Anne Revival which was absorbed into the Federation style. Elaborate timberwork on the generous verandas demonstrated the arrival of art nouveau curvilinear features and the use of the nationalistic ‘rising sun’ motif which symbolised the spirit of a new era. The ‘rising sun’ fretwork can be seen in the southern and western gables, whereas the curvilinear patterns are on and around the arches which support and decorate the once-open verandah encompassing three sides of the main living quarters.
