11.01.2022 The history of DDS Diamond Design Studios and Moser Jewellery The tradition of jewellery in the Moser family started with Bruno Moser, who studied the art of ...jewellery making in Switzerland in 1944. Once finishing his jewellery and art studies, Bruno worked as an apprentice for a high-end jewellery manufacturer in Basel. After 4 years of jewellery making in Switzerland, Bruno emigrated to Australia without money or the English language. The only thing he knew he could trust was his drawing skills and his love for making jewellery. Without speaking English, he was still able to communicate to jewellery customers by sketching what they wanted in front of them. After working in Sydney for one of the top jewellery companies Bruno decided to opened his own jewellery manufacturing company, Moser Jewellery. In 1988, Richard entered the Moser Jewellery business, learning all aspects from the ground up, including manufacturing, gemstone cutting and export sales. Having studied both Design and Gemmology, and working alongside his father, Bruno, he took over the designing side of the business and founded DDS Direct Diamond Sales Co., specializing in sourcing diamonds. DDS won the Australian Bridal Industry Award for Best Ring Manufacturer in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, which qualified us for the National Designer of Dreams Award, which we first won in 2015. This prestigious award gave us the impetus to amend our trading name to DDS Diamond Design Studios, which we believe more accurately reflects what we do at our studio workshop.
