19.01.2022 LABOR ACCUSED OF BANDAID SOLUTIONS FOR IPSWICH HEALTH Suzie Holmes, One Nation candidate for Ipswich, has accused the Queensland Labor Government of bandaid solutions as Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk promises a satellite hospital for Ipswich, should her government be re-elected at the upcoming State election. The Ipswich population is set to boom and this small pop-up satellite hospital, even with the main hospital expansion, will not be able to sufficiently service our re...gion. It is a short-sighted bandaid solution being used to try and buy votes" Ipswich needs a real plan for health facilities and services; we need a new hospital built so that we do not have long waiting queues or unnecessary deaths from a lack of beds or surgery theatres." 17.01.2022 THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION HAS TOLD GOVERNMENTS TO STOP LOCKDOWNS. If Queensland's health experts have received advice from the W.H.O., have Queenslanders been given the wrong advice which in turn has caused us widespread economic damage? The so-called experts are now backflipping regarding the handling of COVID after realising that it is doing more damage to societies across the world, with increased poverty levels. ... THE W.H.O. website advised against lockdowns but the Australian media did not do their research and hold our politicians to account - THEY FAILED YOU! (This information, linking to the W.H.O.'s stance, has been circulating Facebook for months!) A simple 'OOPS, WE'RE SORRY' WILL NOT CUT IT! People's livelihoods have been ruined, there has been an increase in domestic violence, mental health cannot cope with the flood of new patients and more businesses will close due to cuts to Jobkeeper. 16.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day and Queenslanders can't get quick mental health support. Prior to COVID, our health department needed more resources to help support people struggling with mental health issues. Now, even doctors are concerned about how people will be looked after, since COVID started. THERE IS CURRENTLY A 3 MONTH WAITING LIST FOR PEOPLE TO GET HELP (Reported by ABC News, 4th Oct.) and telephone help lines are struggling to cope too.... I am also very concerned that the impact of COVID has increased mental health problems of those already suffering and those who have never dealt with it before - we as a State and Nation will not be able to support people, unless FAST action is taken by politicians. Ipswich does not have enough hospital bed spaces for people with mental health issues and it also appears that services for children have been cut, especially since the Wacol Centre was shut down by Campbell Newman. I'll fight for... More beds for people. Longer term assistance (not just 72hrs). More mental health professionals to be put on the front line. 16.01.2022 The Palaszczuk Government is still refusing to release the budget. They don't want you to know that their promises to Ipswich do not add up so they keep just telling you that they're "keeping Queenslanders safe." Don't fall for it! At least we already know some of this government's financial record...... Over $500,000 wasted renaming Lady Cilento Hospital $538,000 on a questionnaire to see if the border closure was a vote winner $68.5 million on failed Queensland Health IT systems $135 million on new health IT Systems that still don't work $700 million fixing Paradise Dam because of bad construction in the first place $755 million on an 'Advance Queensland' initiative with no cost-benefit analysis to see if it worked ...There's probably more that Labor have done with your money but they're still hiding the budget! Just imagine how many more front-line health workers, teachers and police we could have had, and how many road upgrades could have been implemented, resulting in additional job creation, if this money had not been wasted! If businesses trade insolvent, they get shut down. However, our governments are allowed to dig us into huge debts. Why? Being a SAFE Labor seat means that a Labor Government does not need to give us the services and facilities we need because they know that you will vote for them regardless. No seat should be SAFE as politicians become complacent.... It is not about voting for the person that is 'nice' or 'friendly' but voting for a person that will deliver for our area. If elected, as the Member for Ipswich, I will sit on the crossbench and that's where I have the opportunity to ask for more from the government, whereas a State Member in government or opposition finds it difficult to make requests from their party bosses who already have the whole party's agenda decided. 11.01.2022 WE WILL FACE A HEALTHCARE CRISIS IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE The population of Ipswich is predicted to rise to approximately 412,762 by 2026, but Labor have revealed that they are only giving Ipswich 315 nurses, 71 doctors and 68 health professionals over the next couple of years, if re-elected! You don't need to be a maths teacher to realise that this is not enough frontline health workers to cope with our region's massive population boom.... Under this government, there has already been a 32% increase to our waiting lists - that's over 2,500 Ipswich locals who are waiting for surgery! All year we have been promised by the State Government that they are keeping Ipswich healthy and safe but these figures show that Ipswich will not get the care that it will need, going into the future. 06.01.2022 9 YEARS SINCE FLOODS AND STILL NO ACTION ON TRANSIT CENTRE! Ipswich has some great assets that are not being utilised and it's not good enough that Ipswich MPs have taken ZERO ACTION on the matter. One asset that I would like to see used is the Ipswich Transit Centre which flooded in 2011.... The current Member for Ipswich has said that she has had discussions about it, but that's all she has achieved! Elected in 2015 - that's 5 years of talk and NO RESULTS! Furthermore, in 2008 the State Labor Government under Premier Anna Bligh said that the centre would become a "world-class transport hub." 12 years late, it clearly is not! BOTH THE LNP AND LABOR HAVE HAD A CHANCE TO FIX THE TRANSIT CENTRE - BOTH PARTIES HAVE DONE NOTHING! As the Member for Ipswich, I would like to see the site transformed into a carpark facility for all to use. The train station is right next door to the Transit Centre so by creating a carpark, this will encourage more people to commute by train into the city AND also minimise traffic. A carpark will also help local businesses by providing ample parking for visitors, plus the many public sector employees who work in the area will have somewhere to park too! 05.01.2022 I believe that this pandemic has been convenient for The Palaszczuk Government because they have been given the opportunity to solely focus on the present issue (the virus) and have been able to avoid other issues that Queensland will face in the near future. Part of the role of Government is to make sure that we have facilities, services and jobs going into the future, that will sustain our population, however, THIS HASN'T HAPPENED. With no budget released by Labor, I am con...cerned that Ipswich has been given promises again that will not be delivered...a bit like the second Bremer Bridge that has been promised to us for 2 elections and not delivered. As the next Member for Ipswich, I will sit on the crossbench which will put me in a position to make Ipswich a powerful region. The current MP cannot provide this from her current position as the Labor bosses are only interested in helping Brisbane. 05.01.2022 ARE POLITICIANS MAKING THE RULES UP AS THEY GO ALONG? As a business owner in the health sector, I fully support government efforts to make sure we have the best health care and best policies to protect us, however it has now been revealed that the QLD Premier’s tough 48 hour border deadline with NSW was not adopted by the experts that are on the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC). Annastacia Palaszczuk has claimed her strong border rules were based on c...riteria that was agreed on by (the) AHPPS, but a Federal health department spokesperson confirmed that the committee has made no recommendations around domestic border closures. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee is the key decision making committee for health emergencies. It is comprised of all state and territory Chief Health Officers and is chaired by the Australian Chief Medical Officer. Today, several media outlets sought answers from the Queensland Premier and Queensland Health Department however received no reply! Meanwhile, people from Queensland and New South Wales are being stopped from visiting their loved ones, stopped from spending their final days of life surrounded by family and businesses are going broke! 01.01.2022 IS IPSWICH AT RISK OF CANCER OR BIRTH DEFECTS? Ipswich City Council has been briefed about the proposed Remondis Incinerator, to be built at Swanbank. Remondis have hired a company to ‘sell’ the project to the council and to convince the community that there is public ‘support’ for it. Yes, we need jobs in Ipswich BUT will the risks outweigh the positives of the project? ... In this case, I believe they will and when the risks involve impacting our health negatively, such as a heightened risk of cancer, they should be taken seriously and be thoroughly explored. In other parts of the world, incinerators have been built and then shut down due to the health implication they cause. I do not want to see a cancer cluster in Ipswich for the sake of the creation of 70 permanent jobs, when the incinerator is in operation.
