18.01.2022 The LJs were out in force on Sunday celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the LJ! We had a nice drive from North Wollongong down to Berry with a few stops on the way. 12 LJs were on this trip ranging from the LJ20, LJ50, LJ80 and LJ81. There was a further 15 or so Suzukis from Sierras, Vitaras Jimnys and a couple brand spanking new Jimnys. Out of the 12, we had 4 LJs from our club as well as a few old Members and an old President bring along their LJs as well. ... A great turn out and day was had and a big thank you to the Illawarra Suzuki Fourwheeldrive club for hosting the event. We will be organising another drive later in the year to keep the 50th Anniversary going strong and hopefully we can have a couple more LJs on the trip.

18.01.2022 Can you believe it! Our club is only 44 years young! Our last meeting was a fantastic turn out with over 50 members helping us celebrate our birthday. We also had some special guests front the 4WD NSW & ACT Association to talk to us about how we can help out those communities that have been impacted by the recent bushfires. We have a list of suggestion for some areas and things we could do to help on our Website. Please have a look and make some suggestions on some ideas yo...u have. We are also thinking about doing a Chainsaw course but need some more interest in that topic. If you could also show some interest on our website if you would be keen on being involved in this course. 18.01.2022 So at our monthly meetings, President Mitch picks a Vehicle from the car park to be 4WD of the month. We have previously had a 2 week old Jimny and a 40 year old LJ81 take out the winnings but this month Alan has taken the spot of 4WD of Month with his immaculate Vitara. Great job mate!

17.01.2022 As of 10th January 2020, the fires in NSW had burnt 5.128 million hectares (6.4% of the state), including 2.539 million hectares in national parks (34.5% of the state's national park estate). This is nearly 20 times the area burnt in whole seasons in recent times and sadly this year the fires have claimed at least 29 lives and summer is only half over. As Suzuki Club members I'm sure you've all noticed the destruction in many of our favourite 4wd locations. Many people have l...ost their homes, livelihoods, stock and local economies have been devastated and let's not forget the destruction and disruption of native animals. The places we have enjoyed so much as part of our passion for the outdoors will take years to recover. The recovery process has started but its not a smooth path. Help is needed in a range of ways but how do we help? What can the Suzuki Club do? You can come to the next meeting so we can develop a plan, things we can do now and things we can do later. We have been lucky enough to have Lee Dunstan from the NSW&ACT Four Wheel Drive Association as a guest speaker at the February meeting. Lee can share with us the Association's knowledge and connections that can help us identify ways in which we as a club can assist in rebuilding. Many of us are struggling to understand how best to help. Please come to the February meeting so we can all learn from Lee's experience and be part of the discussions to determine how we channel our efforts to make a difference. The committee looks forward to seeing many of you there. Please indicate if you are attending by responding to the poll or commenting via the link below so we can organise catering https://www.suzuki4wd.com.au/forumvb/showthread.php

17.01.2022 Party Party Party! Given the cancellation of our Christmas Party at Bendeela this weekend, let's rev up the December meeting and make it a fun Christmas celebration. 15.01.2022 How cute is little Aria rocking her new club shirt! Our next generation Zook drivers!

15.01.2022 Please be advised that in the interests of your safety and club finances we have had to postpone this weekends Christmas Party. At this time the Bendeela Camping Area is closed due to bushfire conditions in the area. After speaking to their staff a short while ago they have advised that the area will be closed tomorrow and they do not know when the area will reopen. The Illawarra Shoalhaven has a total fire ban for tomorrow so we cannot have a gas fire in the open so options... to relocate are impractical. In the last few hours there is also a large out of control fire at Green Wattle Creek burning east towards Warragamba, Silverdale, Werombi, The Oaks, Lakesland, Thirlmere, Buxton, Balmoral, Bargo or Hill Top. We made this risk assessment today at 4pm based on best information available, your safety, air quality and the fact that we could still cancel our meat, bread, dessert and spit orders and save the club $700. The committee will discuss further but at this stage we are looking at the feasibility of having Santa visit this weeks Christmas Meeting. We should also be able to make this meeting much more of a party to compensate for our postponement. More early next week. In addition our thoughts are to have a kickoff celebration weekend early next year with a spit provided.

15.01.2022 Last night at our Christmas Club Meeting we had a very special Man Surprise us with a visit and some presents for the kids! Santa made a quick visit before we had a special Christmas dinner. Thank you to everyone who came out and helped to make such a rushed event happen following the cancellation of our Christmas Party camping trip on the weekend. From everyone on the committee, we would like to send all our members and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New... Year. See you all in 2020 for a fun filled year! See more

02.01.2022 Dear All, As key stakeholders of the Danjera Dam Campground (also known as Yalwal campground), I am writing to advise you of important upcoming access changes.... As of today the campground is closed due to the increased fire danger levels, which has seen the area open and close intermittently over the last few weeks. However, today a Media Release will advise the public that on Monday 16th December, Danjera Dam camping area will be closed until further notice. During extended drought conditions, the management of the Shoalhavens water supply schemes is determined by Councils Drought Management Plan (DMP). The DMP is being followed to ensure our precious water resources are soundly managed. Danjera Dam is one of the primary water sources for the Shoalhaven. Following releases from Danjera Dam to top up Shoalhavens water supply, Danjera Dams water level has dropped significantly creating potential safety hazards. For the safety of users, the adjoining campground will close on Monday 16th December 2019 until further notice. The campground will only reopen when the water levels significantly increase. Under the prevailing drought conditions, this may not occur for some time. A new gate has been installed to control access, with Councils Rangers to conduct ongoing daily patrols. We aim to advise the public of these access changes via advertising in local papers, on Shoalhaven Tourism, Council & Shoalhaven Waters webpages as well as social media. As with previous closures due to fire safety concerns, the campgrounds closure is posted on signage at 3 points prior to arriving at the campground. Please note that the campground will be closed to all access, both pedestrian and vehicular. Any persons not lawfully permitted to be on-site will be regarded as trespassers and Police will be advised. Shoalhaven City Councils priority is to ensure public safety. The low water levels pose a real danger to anyone accessing the area and we ask for your assistance in promoting this message. Should you wish to discuss this matter further, I would be pleased to receive your feedback. Regards, Trish Hoerlein Acting Water Customer & Business Services Manager
