25.01.2022 Suzi Folks any of you ride a push bike? (I do 5 days per week) or have children/grand kids that do - here is a must do maintenance item. Esp. on front wheel pls check spokes say ever 6 mths make sure they are all intact and approx tight enough. Thx. Esp for those with disc brakes ..... day before yesterday I was riding along (having just done 10000ks since purchase some years back0 on my carbon fiber Specialised Roubaix at about 10kph at the base of a hill minding my own b...usiness when bingo a huge metal crunch noise was heard and the bike instantly stopped. I thought i had been hit by something but no i was still upright (for now) and slowly the rear raised itself .... and raised itself. The front wheel did not move and i wondered WTH is happening that wheel is not moving ..... and about then i went over the handle bars sort of slow motion. What had happened is that a spoke had come loose at the 'nipple' end ie at the wheel rim and broken off and then it went into the disc brake (which has mainly holes in it of course) and that was the end of my story..... Anyway picking myself up off the ground i was assisted by two most kind passers by and on inspection i discovered that nasty wayward spoke. I always get up to 30kph and sometimes 40kph on my rides. So i was very very fortunate and my bike gloves tore a bit instead of my skin when i put my hands out to stop my base over apex fall. And i have now heard of some tragic stories about this happening at 50kph and more that is very very serious - even life threatening. Stay safe on your pushy folks and all the best for 2020 ciao paul ps have never heard of this happening on a motorbike though.....maybe one with those glorious spoke wheels

12.01.2022 Suzuki FBFolks: In my view electric motorcycles basically don't work with existing battery technology, the CofG is high, weight high (in four wheeler's one just adds batteries - the Tesla adds nearly 1t of batteries!!!). Zero found this out and left Aust (with its long distances) the max K's range they got was 1/2 that of a typical Sunday club ride i go on of 300k and they need to double that range i.e. to about 500k. The cost was $22g double what a comparative petrol motorcycle was anyway this looks pretty and no doubt new battery tech is coming. What do you think? Keen to have a discussion on this. ciao paul
