25.01.2022 Have been noticing an increase in bad habits by motorists with parking either illegally or in an unsafe location presents major issues for other motorists. Here is a link for you to update your road rules covering parking. http://mylicence.sa.gov.au/roa/the-drivers-handbook/parking

24.01.2022 Hello everyone. As promised I am posting information, hopefully to help anyone learning to drive whilst we are on restrictions in South Australia. Most common area that I see needs to be highlighted is basic understanding of the cabin controls in the vehicle. I can say that more than 80% of my clients, no matter how many hours they've driven have a very limited knowledge of this when they begin driving lessons. In the yellow section of the Driving Companion, I'll refer to it ...as the LOGBOOK. I would like to highlight page 43, Unit 1 - Task 1. Step 5. LOCATE IDENTIFY BE ABLE TO USE All vehicles controls and have a very good knowledge of the symbols and warnings lights. Take the time to experiment with the inside of the vehicle. The differences between vehicles. Similar features but located in different places and operating those features may differ. I've added a couple of pictures covering the types of symbols and warning lights you will encounter. Be expected to know these before beginning driving lessons is an advantage to the first lesson progressing easier. Sorry for the picture quality. Have now included a link. https://m.qt.com.au//64-dash-symbols-telling-you-/3213114/

23.01.2022 As Im out and about on the roads I continually amazed how many drivers still disregard the dangers of talking on a mobile and texting. If its so important to answer or to read the message, find a safe and legal place to stop your vehicle, other option put phone on silent. Be safe leading up to the festive season, take care.

22.01.2022 Example of vehicle controls being the same feature but located in a different area in the vehicle and operate differently. Although the symbols are the same. Headlights, Fog Lights. Can be found on the indicator stalk which could be right or left side. Or can be found on the right side on the panel, as you see in the first photo.

21.01.2022 Hi to everyone. Thought a link to show what offences and the penalties that will apply. To hopefully promote awareness to adopt better driving habits. http://mylicence.sa.gov.au/road-rules/offences-and-penalties

21.01.2022 Hi to everyone. Ive added a few links for those who have been seeking information on recent changes to the Road Rules in regards to cyclists and the Hazard Perception Test. Also thought it might be interesting to share a link about penalties and fines, see just how much it could cost you. I know it may be early, but as we are heading into the silly season, and the next few weeks leading into the holidays tend to be when everyones concentration whilst driving seems to become robotic and just going through the motions. I would like to encourage patience, plan ahead, be curteous as we head into the festive season. Be safe and I wish all a safe Christmas and New Year.

20.01.2022 Hello everyone. As you may have seen on the News today (Friday 8th May). Driving tuition may have restrictions lifted in Step 2 from 8th June. We have no notification from our Industry Registrars or from our Driver Trainers Association of SA at this stage. Until I have it in writing I am still suspended from operating. If we get notification, I will be in touch to rescehdule lessons and testing. I have been sorting through my client list and when I resume I will have my students in 3 categories to simplify rescheduling in my diary. As there were many of my clients who were near finishing just as restrictions were imposed. Regards Suzanne Wilson

19.01.2022 Hello. I Have been receiving updates from our Industry Registrars and our Driver Trainers Association. At this stage it has been strongly recommended to follow any health updates on the COVID 19 via SA Health. The latest updates COVID 19, having consideration to preventative measures like social distancing. I am currently still suspending lessons and testing at this time. I am unsure of a date of when to resume, but will be in touch with all my clients as soon as I know any... changes within our industry. Please stay safe and well. Regards Suzanne Wilson.

18.01.2022 Hello everyone. Back to training and testing today. Would like to thank all my clients for their patience and understanding during these difficult times recently. I have managed to arrange dates for lessons and tests for all my current students, so my next couple of months are looking very busy. I'm keen to see everyone again and resume training and see everyone acheive their licence. Especially those who were unfortunate to have missed out during the April and May months ...when they were eligible and had to wait until the industry was given the green light to start up again. Yippee!!! There will be a few changes to the routine, but overall it's just common sense and good hygiene practices. I will send a message to all clients 2 days prior to the lessons with updated information regarding what is involved to resume training safely. Stay safe and well everyone. CHEERS!!

17.01.2022 People who hold a learners permit will still be able to undertake driver training with a parent or other Qualified Supervising Driver who is living in the same house as the learner driver. This is for South Australia.

16.01.2022 Notice to all Motor Driving Instructors and Authorised Examiners On 9 April 2020, the State Coordinator made a Direction under the Emergency Management Act 2004 to suspend all driver training and assessment services for the issue of a car licence effective from Friday 10 April 2020. This new Direction is upon advice of the Chief Public Health Officer, and provides greater protection of South Australians, in line with the COVID19 physical distancing recommendations.... This means that learner drivers for a car licence will not be able to obtain the services of a licensed Motor Driving Instructor or an Authorised Examiner to undertake driver training or assessment for the issue of a car drivers licence. People who hold a learners permit will still be able to undertake driver training with a parent or other Qualified Supervising Driver who is living in the same house as the learner driver. Driver training and assessment services for obtaining a heavy vehicle licence will remain available at this time due to the larger area of heavy vehicle cabins, which allows for greater physical distancing. Authorised Examiners should not alter booking details on EzyReg, as DPTIs Bookings Officer will undertake this work and forward any refunds shortly. Additional information will be provided to all Motor Driving Instructors and Authorised Examiners early next week. Kind Regards Clare Heathcote Manager Compliance, Investigations and Prosecutions Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure

15.01.2022 Hello to all my clients and for those viewing my Facebook Business page for the first time. Currently all Driving Instructors are suspended at the moment to be able to conduct lessons or testing. I will add to my page in the next days and weeks posts that may be relevant while you are learning to drive with a Qualified Supervising Driver from your household. Please request any thoughts on topics you would like to see or questions you may have on Australian Road Rules. Stay safe everyone.

14.01.2022 Cars have a lot of lights to deal with. How do you know which ones you should use and when? Although lights should be easy, not everyone is fully aware of how important it is to use the right lights at the right time. Some people arent even aware of all the lights cars have....Continue reading

14.01.2022 Hi all, thought a bit of a giggle for you.

13.01.2022 October 1999 to October 2019 is now 20 years in business. I have enjoyed teaching and watching so many learners achieve their licence over this time. I started my business in Mount Gambier and established a great reputation over the 14 years I trained and tested in the local area. Moving up to Adelaide and continued my business over the 6 years in the Northern Suburbs. Covering an area probably 6 times the size of Mount Gambier. Has been challenging establishing myself in t...he big smoke, but has been very rewarding. I've enjoyed the new friendships with instructors locally in the suburbs where we all train and test. To all my students past and current, thankyou for choosing me to teach you. There has been some absolute wonderful highlights and achievements. And I am always pleased to see the happiness of each student when passing their test. Looking forward to the next 20 years. More than likely, I will still be training and testing. Cheers to all.

09.01.2022 Time for a funny pic

07.01.2022 Hello to all my current clients and anyone browsing my facebook page. I Have been receiving updates from our Industry and our Driver Trainers Association. Messages included: As per the recommendations of Government, to date it is still business as usual having consideration to preventative measures like social distancing, however things are changing rapidly so if there is any change we will let you know asap.... At this stage it is up to the individual as to whether they continue their operations as an MDI or Authorised Examiner however, I recommend you follow any health updates on the COVID 19 via SA Health latest updates COVID 19 . Another recent email included: Greetings all I have received a number of emails questioning why DPTI is continuing to allow driver training and assessment given the Federal Governments social distancing requirements, eg 1.5 metres and restrictions on social gatherings. https://www.health.gov.au//australian-health-protection-pr On the LINK I've included this paragraph. Recommendations The growth trajectory of cases in Australia and the incomplete and slow implementation of social distancing measures, which is still a new concept for Australians, requires significantly stronger measures in social distancing in the short term. I am from 1 April 2020 suspending all lessons temporarily. I have kept all my current students in my diary on the dates pre-arranged, in readiness to return to training and testing. I will be in touch with all my clients to give updates of lessons resuming. This has been a massive decision based on the current situation, the wellbeing of my family and all of my students. I do hope to see you again in the very near future. Please stay safe and well. Regards Suzanne Wilson

05.01.2022 I now have updated vehicles. Automatic VW Golf (red) and Manual VW Jetta (white). Great cars to drive. Loving the VW's.

05.01.2022 With all the information out at the moment about COVID-19 and the anxiety levels people have. I thought to ad a post and update to let my students know I am still continuing with lessons at this time. I have been obviously monitoring my own santitation habits. As far as my motor vehicle and sanitation procedures I have been wiping down door handles in and out. Steering wheel, handbrake lever and vehicle controls. If anyone has concerns and wish to delay lessons at this time. ...I understand, as it is very hard to ensure a no risk environment within the confines of a motorvehicle. I ask students and parents if they have or they know of anyone who has been in contact with someone with flu like symptoms, or have traveled overseas in the last 14 days, please let me know and Ill make an informed decision if lessons are to be postponed. I have had also a hard time replenishing products this week due to the rush in stores of products. Understandably it is a very anxious time and genuine concerns are being raised, please dont hesitate to contact me. Regards Suzanne

03.01.2022 I sometimes get asked these questions, through the MYLICENCE website, just click on the link to most frequently asked questions. These are well explained and confirms any doubts you may have about things like can a learner driver tow a trailer. http://mylicence.sa.gov.au/my-ca/frequently_asked_questions

02.01.2022 All Learners in South Australia are given a booklet to record the hours of driving and information needed to outline all the options available to obtain their Provisional Licence. https://mylicence.sa.gov.au/the-driving-companion Would like to encourage all LEARNERS and their QUALIFIED SUPERVISING DRIVERS to read through the sections of this book in more detail. Each section is colour coded representing different information. Please look at my future posts highlighting what the Driving Companion (Logbook, as many of my clients call it) covers and how to get the benefit in using the Logbook to make it an easier process to obtain your PROVISIONAL LICENCE.
