22.01.2022 On our way from yet another unseccussful attempt to find some yabbies, we spotted a crab trap washed up on the bank. We saw something moving in it. Lucky for the poor, but not so little, goanna that our curiosity kicked in and we went to investigate. Between trying to help it and being a little bit worried not to get jumped on by it, we managed to open the door on the trap. We had to lift it higher up on the bank and flip it over before the poor, frightened thing managed to find the door to get out.

02.01.2022 Crisis averted! This from the BOM: "Please be aware that earlier messages that the Coomera River at Oxenford Weir had reached a new flood level record ... were incorrect due to inconsistent data being recorded at the station. The current level is 3.02m and not 8.6m as initially reported." We all make mistakes. Better than the other way around. It's still raining though.
