25.01.2022 BACK TO SINGLETON 2020 There are a stack of events next week commemorating the bicentenary of the area now known as Singleton. Council events include:... SINGLETON HOMECOMING | 13 March 2020 6 > 11pm A free community street party on John Street including food trucks, local winerys, kids activities, roving entertainment and live bands. SINGLETON DAY OUT | 14 March 2020 11am >4pm A family day out on the Civic Green including real live magic, music, entertainment, jumping castles, Hunter Valley Zoo animal nursery and food trucks. SINGLETON SOIREE A cocktail party at the Civic Centre with jazz music and old - time glamour. Catered by Mama's Kitchen, tickets are just $35 from stickytickets.com.au/pz250 Community events include: HEDWELD PUBLIC TOURS | 13 March 2020 10am > 12pm Hedweld will open its doors to the public between for tours of their new Advanced Manufacturing Facility and other workshops. In 2020, Hedweld will be celebrating its 40th anniversary. LUNCH, TENNIS & CROQUET | 14 March 2020 12pm Browse the old memorabilia display, dress up in old tennis clothes and try your hand at a wooden racquet. Croquet, social tennis and kids activities will be available. OPEN DAY & EVENSONG AT ALL SAINTS ANGLICAN CHURCH | 15 March 2020 6pm The church will have an open day all day, with history of the church on display and Evensong held at 6pm. 21.01.2022 First-up for our Call & Collect we have Hunter Valley Cookies. These delicious cookies are just like the ones Nan used to bake. Still made by hand using real eggs, butter, sugar and flour - they are the perfect snack. The flavours we currently have in stock are: Unicorn Poo - Fresh from the paddock and straight into the packet. Made of sweet dreams and rainbows! ... Sticky date and ginger - Sweet and spice and all things nice! Made with coconut, oats, golden syrup, ginger and dates and dipped in both white and dark chocolate. Macadamia white choc - A delectable cookie loaded with macadamia nuts and drizzled with a helpful serve of white chocolate. Love me not - A perfect cookie for the one you love. A sweet shortbread cookie, cut into a heart and half-dipped in white and dark chocolate. Chunky dunk - The ultimate cookie! A big crunchy cookie filled with generous sized choc-chips! Super more-ish but so irresistible. Gluten free Florentine - A sweet mix of nuts (peanuts and almonds) and glazed cherries make this a delicious (and gluten free!) treat! Queen of hearts - This cookie is sure to capture your heart. A sugar cookie filled with a jam filling. Oops a daisy - A popular choice amongst the kids (or big kids!). A sweet shortbread cookie, cut into a flower with a sprinkle of 100s and 1000s and finished off with a white choc-chip. 12.01.2022 With the Covid-19 situation evolving daily, Singleton Visitor Information Centre is taking measures to protect the health of the community and our staff whilst still encouraging you to support our beautiful local businesses and their products. We are still operating as normal, however encourage you to take up our new Call & Collect service! Each day we will be showcasing the local products that we stock, and if something in particular catches your eye, simply call us with the product description, make a payment over the phone, and we will organise a collection time with you. Call us when you arrive at the Visitor Information Centre and we will bring your goodies to your car. 06.01.2022 STAFF RECIPE: SIZZLING PRAWN STIR FRY This one is a popular recipe amongst a number of staff members at the Singleton Visitor Information Centre! Ingredients Stir-fry veggies of choice (Broccoli, Carrot, Bok Choy)... Green Prawns Chilli, Garlic, Onion, Ginger River Flats Caramelised Chilli Soy Sauce Method Fry off chilli, garlic, onion and ginger in some EVOO (we recommend Pukara Estate Premium EVOO) Add veggies of choice Once veggies have reached a softer consistency, add prawns and cook until almost cooked Add 1/4 cup River Flats Caramelised Chilli Soy Sauce with 1 Tsp Oyster sauce and mix Just before ready to serve add a small amount of a cornflour/water mix to thicken sauce. The decision was made with the health and safety of the community as Council’s top priority and Council would like to acknowledge the support of all event stakeholders in this decision. An updated event date is yet to be determined and will be posted to Council's social media channels and website when known.

05.01.2022 The Singleton Visitor Information Centre is now closed until further notice. We have had to cease our Click and Collect service, but due to it's popularity, we hope to bring this to you in the future. Thank you and stay safe!

The decision was made with the health and safety of the community as Council’s top priority and Council would like to acknowledge the support of all event stakeholders in this decision. An updated event date is yet to be determined and will be posted to Council's social media channels and website when known.

The major focus for the Back to Singleton 2020 program is tonight and tomorrow, starting with Singleton Homecoming to take over John Street, ahead of the family-friendly Singleton Day Out and all the old-time glamour of the Singleton Soiree tomorrow. For those attending any events across the weekend, please follow the directions from the Australian Department of Health and NSW Health, including frequent hand washing, catching coughs and sneezes in your elbow, throwing away used tissues and, most importantly, staying at home if you feel unwell. Moving forward, Council’s annual event program will be guided by the direction of the Federal and State Governments.
