22.01.2022 Did you know that mindfulness physically rebuilds and changes the structure of your brain? A study conducted on mindfulness meditation has shown that MRI scans of people who practiced a mindfulness meditation for 30 minutes everyday for 8 weeks, found that there was an increase in grey matter in the hippocampus, an important part of brain for learning and memory. The images also showed a reduction of the same grey matter in the amygdala, a region connected to anxiety and stress. No such changes were observed in the control group that did not practice meditation. Have you gotten your mindfulness practice in today?

21.01.2022 "What does it mean to fully experience a momentany moment? It means to directly experience what is here now without separation from it. It means opening, seeing, listening, feeling, being intimate and at one with what is. While thoughts may appear in the present moment, thoughts do not experience anything. Thoughts do not see, but YOU do" -Dorothy Hunt

18.01.2022 "Creativity is intelligence having fun"-Albert Einstein. How often do you allow yourself to tune back into your child nature to play, dance, sing and create for no reason? We forget that we are all born as artists. We learn to dance before we can walk, we learn to paint before we can write and sing before we can talk. When did you last stop and play?

15.01.2022 Take some time to lay back, relax and enjoy being immersed in nature. Knowing that there is nothing that you need to do, nowhere you need to be, other than right here, right now in this beautiful present moment. At Swami's we have plenty of cosy hang out areas where you can spend some time to reconenct with nature, and most importantly to reconnect with yourself (and maybe you will realise that you were never seperate from nature in the first place).

10.01.2022 There is nowhere you need to be other than right here, right now in this present moment. This very moment is a gift, and that is why it is called 'present'. Sometimes it's easy to get lost with the mind and be lead down very different allies which lead you away from this very moment in time. A great way to bring yourself back to the present moment is to focus on your breath, which can act as your anchor into the Now. Another great way to learn to practice being present is to walk mindfully and observe your surroundings, and also to practice yoga without an end goal other than to feel each and every moment and each and every breath.

08.01.2022 "Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. Yoga doesn't care about what you have been; yoga cares about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, its essence must be embodied. Aadil Palkhivala.

06.01.2022 We are so grateful for all of the incredible people from all walks of life who come to stay with us. Our guests truly give us so much meaning, depth and richness in our experience here at the retreat, and we are so happy to be able to share this beautiful healing space with those who need a break from the outside world, so that they can rediscover their inner world.

03.01.2022 An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day. Henry David Thoreau.

03.01.2022 Hanumanasana (also known as monkey pose) is the yogic name for the front splits. In Yogic Philosophy, Hanuman was the Monkey God and the servant of Rama. Hanuman represents service to others, and personifies strength, bravery and spiritual devotion. In mythology Hanuman rescues Sita (the wife of Rama) from a King Demon in the battle of Lanka. To do this, he has to leap over from India to Sri Lanka to rescue Sita (which he does in full front splits). This is where the name o...f the asana originated. In order to practice Hanumanasana, we must be humble, brave and have devotion which takes a lot of practice and dedication until you can remain in Hanumanasana comfortably and steadily. Overtime this posture will allow you to stretch and strengthen the muscles in your thighs, hamstrings and groin and will also help your hips to become more flexible and open. See more

01.01.2022 Mala bead meditations can help you to focus and calm your mind to guide you into the present moment. To complete this meditation with your mala beads, you need to hold the first mala bead with one hand. Allow your fingers to hold it finely and take one deep inhale and one deep exhale. Once you have completed this round you will move onto the next bead and repeat again until you have reached the master mala bead to end on 108 breaths. In yoga the number 108 holds great significance and represents spiritual competition. It is a sacred number as in Ayurveda we have 108 marma points and nadis in the body. Sun salutations are also often performed in 9 rounds, of 12 postures representing 108 total asanas.
