22.01.2022 Hi all an update! This show was to be Hugo Race & Michelangelo Russo playing the songs of John Lee Hooker tonight at Swamplands. Obviously that can't go ahead but we are very excited to now announce Hugo Race will be launching his new album with his band The True Spirit on Sat 5th Dec at Swamplands. Live. 12.01.2022 Hi everyone just putting the word out I am organising two competitions at Swamplands both closing 20th August. 1. We Got Mail!: Postcards to the Swamp An original postcard competition: entries are invited for originally designed/created post cards in any medium painting, drawing, collage etc to be submitted by 20th August. Postcards will be exhibited at Swamplands Bar once we are able to reopen and on line. The winning entry will win $250 cash plus there will be other... prizes (to be announced) for runners up/special mentions. 2. Dreaming in Sound An original music video competition: entries are invited for music videos in any format and genre to be submitted by 20th August. Also open to short films which are not strictly music videos but music is a key component of the film. Films will be shown at the bar in a special series of screenings once we are able to reopen with performers playing their soundtracks live to the films. We will also play films on our page and You Tube channel. I also invite musicians who have works they think would be perfect for a sound track or film makers who would like some original high quality music to contact me so I can put you in touch. The winning entry will win $250 cash plus there will be other prizes (to be announced) for runners up/special mentions. I’m putting up the funds for these myself but there is a small entry fee for both competitions which will go towards paying artists and putting on some really great opening nights for both of these once we’re allowed back. In other Swamp News we also have a new kitchen coming your way!
