25.01.2022 Hi anglers, this weekend is the scheduled Comp. So far it's not looking very likely but we will keep you posted over the next few days. As per new season plans, if the weather is unfishable for the ocean, the Angling Comp will defer to the first of the River Fishing Comps- unless the weather is SO bad even the river is unsafe eg electrical storm or near gale/ gale force winds. I will be emailing you all and publish on FB the details of the river fishing rules later on today ...(when I get a second in between work!) The Angling meeting/ drinks will be this Thursday evening at the club where we can make the final call. 6.30pm in the undercroft :) If the Comp doesn't go ahead it will be pushed back a week. I will also be updating Facebook this week with the photos from the Wind Up... Cheers Apsey

21.01.2022 Ray Hill.....podium finish for best dressed

20.01.2022 UPDATE: Finally managed to get the prize giving photos onto Facebook! Hopefully this will bring back some happy memories of the great day :) Official stats are 41 boats, 127 Anglers, 4 kayakers and $17,000 in prizes given away! Thanks to SYC, our wonderful sponsors (check out the banners and the scoreboard to see how many generous small and large local business we have every year- your support and our appreciation cannot be understated!) and everyone who competed- it was a g...reat fun day as always!! Great to see so many juniors and lady anglers taking it up to the guys and snaring a good portion of the prize pool!

17.01.2022 RIP Barry Lawrence On Monday we were heartbroken to hear that we lost another integral member of the Angling Section. Barry Lawrence served as Captain from 2002 to 2010, Life Member of SYC from 2015, Skipper of Narmada and also holder of two Club Records (4kg Skippy & 19.2kg Dhufish)- he will be missed dearly by everyone at SYC.... Another great angler taken from SYC too soon, you will be missed by all.

16.01.2022 Hi Anglers, Been a while..its been an interesting hiatus for Angling with all the COVID-19 effectively shutting down SYC Operations for the past 2 months or so. This also saw the cancellation of the Intra Club Comp, which is really disappointing but given how well WA seems to be bouncing back compared to the rest of the country- it was the right thing to do. Anyway, on a more positive note- we can probably start looking at getting angling comps back up and running sooner ra...Continue reading

11.01.2022 At last, the photos that we all thought were never going to make it...like last years one where the memory card with all the pics went walkabout! No such issue this year, with our amazing photographers Ivan and Dee Bridgeman doing the honours and sensibly giving me the photos on the night! Anyway, for those of you that couldn't make it, this is the reason everyone said their hangovers were epic. And for those of us that were there...this is what the hell happened cos i don't... remember either! Apsey

08.01.2022 RIP Owen Blackbeard, truly one of the good guys. Taken too soon from everyone that knew him. SYC Angling wouldnt exist without your efforts and wont be the same without you now. From your friends x

04.01.2022 Good morning anglers, For those of you not on the SYC Angling sms/ email list and didnt already figure it out, we confirm that we are indefinitely postponing the 2020 Intra club Comp The Govt. announcement this week regarding the postponement of operations at all sporting and social venues as well as the increased isolation and social distancing measures means that hosting the Intra Comp is simply an impossibility at this time.... The Club is working hard in the background to implement strategies to protect staff and members from potential exposure which will be continue to be disseminated to the members via email. It's a tough and disappointing call but we need to do the right thing and look at postponing till later in the year or cancelling until next year. We shall obviously get in touch with all the sponsors to offer reimbursements if they wish to withdraw rather than postpone and shall instruct the office to provide reimbursement to any anglers who have already paid the entry fees. On behalf of Angling- stay safe during these strange times. Cheers Apsey
