23.01.2022 Did you know that it Mens Health Week? (15-21 June) Statistically, 1 in 8 men will experience depression and 1 in 5 will experience anxiety at some stage of their lives. Men are also more likely to suffer from lifestyle-related health conditions than females at the same age. This week helps to raise awareness of mens health issues, while at the same time celebrates their strengths, the contributions they make and the important role they play in society. For more information visit https://www.menshealthweek.org.au/

23.01.2022 A home is more than just four walls and a roof, a home provides safety and security, something that many may take for granted. Today marks the start of Homelessness Week, an important national annual event to shine a light on homelessness, to learn from the voices of people with lived experience of homelessness and collectively reflect on what we need to do to change perceptions and stigmas to end homelessness. For more information on responding to and preventing homelessne...ss in Western Australia and to read Western Australias 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 20202030, visit https://www.communities.wa.gov.au/st/homelessness-strategy/ #HW2020

23.01.2022 Special thanks to all involved in ensuring the NAIDOC 2020 celebrations in Ellenbrook last week was such a great success. Traditional Owner, Vaughn McGuire started off the morning with a heart-warming Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, followed by Guildford Grammar School’s Boodjar Bidi dancers. Delicious Kangaroo burgers made with love and served by Cassy Martin for breakfast along with activities such as card and bracelet making. The morning concluded with a ceremonial flag raising by Clontarf Foundation Academy students from Ellenbrook Secondary College and a minute’s silence for Remembrance Day. We hope that this is just the beginning of an annual event in Ellenbrook and look forward to seeing it grow.

22.01.2022 It’s NAIDOC week - a week that celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2020 theme 'Always Was, Always Will Be' recognises that First Nations people are spiritually and culturally connected to this country and have occupied and cared for the continent for over 65,000 years. This week is important for all Australians as it symbolises respect, sharing of culture, a time of reflection and a time of healing. Keep an eye out for all the fantastic celebrations and events happening all over the community this week. #NAIDOC2020

20.01.2022 Early Learning Matters Week 2020: 3 to 7 August. A fairly new initiative first staged in 2018, Early Learning Matters week is an opportunity for early childhood educators, parents, carers and community leaders around Australia to come together (online this year) to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of early learning and the role of early childhood education and care in childrens development and wellbeing in Australia. Initially, the primary purpose of Early... Learning Matters Week was to better inform political decision-makers across the party spectrum and across the nation about the benefits of early learning. It has now expanded to include families and communities recognising the role early learning services play in supporting families and building our society. For more information or to find out how you can be involved this year visit https://www.earlylearningmatters.org.au/
