18.01.2022 From the PFL today: When the staff rang Club Presidents early in the week, it was great to hear clubs are pretty upbeat. Gotto love grass roots footy. Please share your ideas on this page in keeping players engaged. The Leagues Finance Committee met last night to budget for a 9-match season (bare bones stuff) and a cancelled season. There is support for clubs. It has taken 18 years of good decision making by Boards to be in this position when a crisis hits. ... We are waiting on some feedback from Marsh (JLT) and the WAFC to confirm costs. I hope to have this to you no later than Wednesday next week. From here, we will be seeking your feedback on the financial and player viability of a 9-match season. I appreciate the uncertainty you may have, and hope this page can keep you up to date. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or call me - 0418 913 150. PS: we need footy to go ahead as Im missing out on my Saturday hot chip ritual. Keep well everyone. David Armstrong

17.01.2022 On behalf of the Swan Athletic Football Club Committee: We would like to express our full support for the decisions made by the Perth Football League yesterday, regarding the postponement of the season until 13th of June and, the immediate cessation of training and club-based activities until 31st of May. Please note that our social media pages cannot be a forum in which players organise events or personal training sessions which conflict with the decision made by the PFL. W...hilst this decision is upsetting to many, the health and well-being of all members of the Swan Athletic Football and Sporting Club is, and always will be, our upmost priority. In situations like these, our obligations to do the right thing by society in the interest of public health, far outweigh our personal desire to play football. We will keep people up to date with any further announcements by the Perth Football League and will provide information on when training will resume as we countdown to the 1st of June. We strongly encourage anyone to message us directly should they have any questions, or are unsure about anything that has been announced. Until then, stay safe, stay healthy, stay community minded.

16.01.2022 Swan Athletic Women are about to hit the track for the first time ever! Get down to the club and to witness history!

16.01.2022 Hello everyone - hope you are all doing well. I have found some old bits and pieces from a few years ago which might be of interest. Back in 2012, Dave Pavlinovich used to pen the weekly article for the Midland Echo. Below is his take on one of the final rounds of 2012 - some names may be familiar. Swan Athletic Survive ... In a lionhearted effort Swan Athletic were gallant in defeat against minor Premiers Trinity-Aquinas at Bill Grayden Reserve in Como. Knowing a bad loss and an unlikely North Fremantle win would consign them to B division for season 2013, the boys approached the game with serious intent. In a bold gamble coach Justin Woods inserted colts ruckman Rory Lobb into the match and asked him to lead the ruck in the face of a highly credentialed TA following division. Lobb proved to be a masterstroke as he ignited the Swans in the first quarter and fed his midfield with a host of opportunities that saw the ball flow smoothly into a forward line led by Jeremy Polich. Polich was in devastating form kicking 5 goals in the first term of his teams total of 6. Down by 28 points at the first Break Trinity Aquinas upped the ante in the second quarter and proved that finishing on top was no accident. Kicking 6 goals to 3 into the breeze reduced the Swans margin to just 10 points at the major change. Swan Athletic needed to hold in the third term as the wind picked up and was favouring the northern end of the ground to give Trinity the advantage. It was a titanic struggle with first Trinity kicking three unanswered goals before the Swans hit back and despite several missed opportunities turned for home with their noses just in front. The news at three quarter time was not good with North Fremantle in control of their game at Mt Lawley and the coach urged the Swans to win the quarter and they win the game Trinity determined to finish on top for the first time in 30 years threw everything into the last quarter and gradually their class began to show. Despite several missed opportunities by the Swans it was not until the last few seconds that a Trinity goal sealed the outcome by just 10 points. This was not enough to be relegated however as the Swans effort in fighting out the season to the very end saw them retain their place on the ladder and keep their A grade status for next season. Final Scores Trinity Aquinas 13 goals 11 behinds (89) to Swan Athletic 12 goals 7 Behinds (79) Best Players Rory Lobb at 2m in height with a wonderful leap a future in top flight football is assured if he chooses it. Adam Erceg: when all looked lost he led from the front with a wonderful effort Dylan Gilbert: A tremendous display at full back against a State representative The Reserves were simply thrashed by a powerful TA side by 122 points as were the colts that fell by 79 points
