10.05.2022 Yesterday SwanCare residents attended Australia's Biggest Morning Tea at Bentley Park. An enjoyable morning tea was had including all the delicious trimmings such as sandwiches, scones, sausage rolls, quiches, cakes and more! Not forgetting a lovely hot beverage to cap off the great morning together. Donations and raffle proceeds went to Cancer Council WA. Well done to Dianne and Bruce May and all who cooked or helped serve during the event! It was lovely to see everyone come together for a great cause.
22.04.2022 Earlier in May, our SwanCare Waminda residents participated in a Mother's Day arts and craft activity. We have some great artistic talent amongst our residents, which was evident when they painted ceramic vases with watercolours. It was a very popular event and residents were also treated with a special afternoon tea where they were served cupcakes, pikelets, sandwiches and fruit platters. It was a most enjoyable afternoon as you can see from the smiles below. Residents asked when we'll be able to have another painting session. We might just see art sessions coming soon for regular rotation on the activities roster!

19.01.2022 The Fish N Chips on Stratton Group had a belated horse celebration today. Four jockey's turned up before the feast - hats and horses included! After the feast the crowd enjoyed some toe tapping and clapping along to songs from the group "Flashback Duo"! What an enjoyable way to spend a Friday! This event runs on the first Friday on the month with a different theme each month. For more information residents can check the monthly What's On Guide.
18.01.2022 Today is a bit of a wet day to end spring and bring us to the warmer summer months. When walking around the village this spring we have been met with stunning foliage and flowers at every corner. All your efforts came to fruition with an abundance of colours for all to enjoy! One can only imagine how many smiles this created - thank you for all your hard work!
15.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. Our light pavilion struggled to shine on the cloudy day today, but that didn’t stop us paying our respects. Lest we forget!
14.01.2022 Do you know what a scroll saw is? Our Bentley Park resident, Henry, is here to chat to you all about it and show you some of his work - make sure you check out the Cuckoo clock! Click the link below to find out more. Thanks Henry!
14.01.2022 The Bentley Park retirement living residents weren't the only ones to have some fun for Melbourne Cup yesterday! Our SwanCare Ningana aged care residents and staff celebrated in style with glorious hand made fascinators, plus a fantastic meal, competitions and celebration outside in the courtyard. There were lots of smiles with prizes won throughout the day for best dressed, best hat/fascinator, and of course, winning horse in the sweeps.
13.01.2022 We’re so proud to introduce you to the kind-hearted Rajitha Jayaratne. For the last seven years, Rajitha has been working as an Assistant in Nursing in our Tandara facility. In 2011, he migrated from Sri Lanka, where he had volunteered in hospitals and aged care facilities by cooking and serving meals for elderly people - just a small insight into his heart of gold. We spoke with Rajitha to ask him why he dedicates his life to bringing smiles to our residents. It's not just... a job; it's a service. This is how I feel. When I arrive at SwanCare Tandara in the morning, it’s like coming to a second home. No matter our roles, everyone works together to ensure we provide a better service to our residents. If we are working as a team, then we can face any situation. That's what we are doing in Tandara. At the end of the day, we are all proud of the high quality service. And when we chat with residents, they are so happy - I’m so happy. Thank you Rajitha, for all the happiness you bring to our residents and staff alike - your kindness shines. #TeamTandara #SwanCarePeople
13.01.2022 It's that time of year again - MOvember! This charity is all about raising awareness and money for men's health by growing a moustache. This year we have 12 brave gents growing a mo, so if you see them around give them a high five and thank them for raising awareness for this worthy cause! Here are some current men's health facts: In Australia, men die on average 4 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons. Men account for 3 out of 4 suicides.... Suicide is the leading cause of death among Aussie men aged 15-44. 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer before they’re 85. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young Aussie men. If you would like to show your support in the form of a donation, you can hand money in at Administration Reception or you can donate online here: https://movember.com/m/13762008?mc=1
12.01.2022 Nurses have a range of career options. Ever wondered about the difference between nursing in aged care versus a hospital setting? Meet Sushila Sapkota, one of our newest Registered Nurses in Tandara. Sushila left her hometown Kathmandu, Nepal, in 2018, and migrated to Sydney to study a Masters of Nursing before moving to Perth in early 2020. Joining our ranks in August, Sushila says she immediately felt like a member of the SwanCare family. Working in aged care often demand...s a different sort of responsibility, than a hospital environment. I became a nurse because it makes me feel so blessed to make a difference to someone’s life. I was happy working in the hospital - but now, I know this is where I want to be. It’s beautiful to work in aged care. The connection I have with residents is special. They hold my hand and I can read the sparkle in their eyes; they are saying ‘Thank you.’ People might assume that I’m the one helping them - but actually, they are helping me. I am far from home, but at SwanCare, I find family again. Looking back on the last four months at SwanCare, Sushila says she wouldn't have it any other way. At SwanCare we look after our residents’ holistic healthcare needs, and we mentor graduate nurses. This enhances our skill-set. Thank you for the love and compassion you bring to your role, Sushila. We’re so lucky to have you. #SwanCarePeople #SwanCareTandara
11.01.2022 If you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting Priska Huber, our Coordinator of People and Culture you’ll understand how privileged we’ve been to have her in our ranks. After almost four years with us, the time has come to bid farewell to Priska as she embarks on the next step in her career. As we prepare to recruit for Priska's replacement, we sat down with her to ask about her time with SwanCare, and for her parting words to her successor. Click on the link below to hear what she told us. #HR #PeopleAndCulture #Recruitment #Opportunity
