Get ready to slay your best lewks for a celebration of WA's best science fiction and fantasy work, then dance the night away. Sunday will be Cosplay Day! There'll be a cosplay workshop in the morning, and a cosplay event later in the afternoon. Non-members are welcome to join the fun between 3 and 6pm for $20. Tell your friends! 05.01.2022 Nominations are now open for the 2020 Tin Duck Awards, the Annual Western Australian Science Fiction Foundation (WASFF) Achievement Awards for WA writers and artists. The awards will be presented during Swancon 45 on Sunday 26th April. Nominations must be received by middnight 31st March 2020. The categories for the 2020 Tin Ducks nominations are: Best WA Professional Long Written Work... Professional long written work is for a piece published in the 2019 calendar year which was at least 40,000 words for which the creator received monetary payment. Best WA Professional Short Written Work Professional short written work is for a piece published in the 2019 calendar year which was less than 40,000, for which the creator received monetary payment. Best WA Professional Art Work Professional Art Work is for a piece of art that was published in the 2019 calendar year for which the creator received monetary payment. This can be via commission or submission. Best WA Professional Production Professional productions include professional podcasts, anthologies and works edited by Western Australian editors, which have been produced by a professional body or for which they received monetary payment. Best WA Fan Written Work Recognising the work a fan has put in for their written work, whether by blog, publication, in a fan magazine or any other form of written work, for which they have not received monetary payment for their services. Best WA Fan Artwork Recognising the work a fan has put in for their art work, whether by display at the Art Show, publication in a fan magazine or any other form of Artwork, for which they have not received monetary payment for their services. Best WA Unpaid or Fan Production Recognising the work of the community who have produced a production for which they have not received monetary payment for their services, whether in the form of a podcast episode, a fanzine production or a small convention. 04.01.2022 Thursday is the new Friday! This year Swancon will kick off with a Sundowner Social in the park on Thursday 18 April. Formal programming will start on Friday, so this will be an opportunity to meet and greet our fabulous guests in a more casual setting, with added pizza and outdoor games! The Sundowner will run from 5pm to 8.30pm. Alcoholic drinks aren't permitted in the park, but the hotel bars will be up and running so you can continue conversations with friends old and new... into the night.
