02.01.2022 The WA community should be proud of their work to greatly reduce the spread of COVID-19. Every great achievement deserves a reward, so we have announced a phase... two easing of restrictions, which will focus on encouraging Western Australians to return to work and play, while giving the WA economy a vital boost. Phase two, which is part of a four-phase roadmap, will come into effect from Monday 18 May and will include: Social indoor and outdoor gatherings lifted to 20 people. This also applies to weddings and funerals (30 for outdoors), allowing us to further reconnect with family and friends. Hospitality industry open for service - seated meals in cafés and restaurants permitted (including within pubs, bars, clubs, hotels and casino), limited to 20 patrons and the 4 square metre rule applied. Restrictions for traveling around WA regional borders to ease, with the number of current restricted borders reducing from 13 to only four (not including the Commonwealth Biosecurity zone and remote communities). Increase in community recreation permitted community sports, indoor or outdoor fitness classes, and public pools can resume all limited to 20 people (no contact or shared equipment). This extends to places of worship, community facilities and libraries. A return to work for Western Australians, unless you are unwell or vulnerable, helping to restart and rebuild WA s economy. With the further lifting of restrictions, we need to be mindful that practicing good social distancing and personal hygiene is essential in making sure were able to continue to progress through these phases and return to the way of life WA is accustomed to. Phases 3 and 4 will focus on further easing restrictions, which will include increased numbers for social gatherings, further easing of border restrictions, and resumed commercial activities. Remember, if you suspect someone is breaching gathering restrictions, a requirement to self-isolate, or a business is not complying with restrictions, contact WA Police on 131 444 For further information visit https://www.wa.gov.au//dep/covid-19-coronavirus-wa-roadmap
