25.01.2022 Here is performance number 10 for Tilly and Sean. This is a TV interview concerning the very exciting prospect of groups of under 10 people being able to get to...gether from next Friday onwards. Depending on the actual government announcement, there is the chance that small running groups could potentially train together once more as early as next week. It could be very exciting for the MELBOURNE PACK 5km time trial on the super fast course at Seaford. It could end up being more than just a solo time trial! Enjoy the interview. See more

24.01.2022 Join this STRAVA GROUP to network with fellow runners

With races looming in early 2021 she is building to smash through personal barriers in @puffingbillyrun and @runmelbourne plus some other events. 24.01.2022 What an amazing afternoon of athletics that was at the home of Mentone Athletic Club Athletics Australia at Dolomore Reserve in Parkdale. A big thanks to the c...lub committee led by Rupert van Dongen for organising such an awesome meet. So many smiling faces with athletes and supporters so glad to be back involved in the sport we love- with real races. I was amazed at how fast the distance runners were given the 33 degree temps! Thanks to Kang Lim and Nick Jansen for the pics. 24.01.2022 What can one do in 60 minutes? Most recreational and junior runners I train can complete the majority of their daily running training in 60minutes, apart from t...heir long long. They can do it within 5km of their home. Extra training like strength and stretching can be done indoors at home. Elites, ultra runners, triathletes- beware; your long rides, second daily runs, long runs will be very expensive in Melbourne if logged on STRAVA and you may need to look at altering your training. If anyone needs help in adjusting their training program to fit the stage 4 restrictions, please message me. Your home treadmills may come in handy! To change Kiplings words a little: If you can fill the unforgiving hour With sixty minutes worth of distance run. Bear this in mind: The world record for the half marathon is 58 minutes. That is a lot of training for one day! Also bear this in mind: The first man to run a sub 4 minute mile, Sir Roger Bannister, rarely trained for more than an hour a day.

23.01.2022 #melbournepack PROFILE RUNNER 72: Grace Bunting is a dedicated triathlete who can run like the wind. This amazing endurance machine has been improving her runni...ng enormously in 2020. The sub 20 minute mark for 5km is appearing to be an achievable target in the near future. Grace has a busy life mixing her three training disciplines with her medicine studies and social life. (Magpie Carpark). ...We will begin the run around 6km loops at 7.30am. I can pick up anyone needing a lift from Edithvale track at 7.15am. All welcome. Please invite family and running friends. (it is a flat, traffic free loop for your children or partners to come along and cycle if they wish). Following the fruit muffins near car park we will go to the caf at GARDENWORLD, 810 Springvale Rd, Keysborough for a coffee at 9.30am. Cool, maybe damp conditions projected for track sessions tomorrow (Thursday)- embrace it! Dont forget to wear your MELBOURNE PACK singlets at parkrun this week- try Chelsea Bicentennial parkrun- its a beautiful parkrun with a nice local vibe.

19.01.2022 More Melbourne Packers are back in town after their holidays. See the three groups at the track sessions today. Will be good to see plenty at parkrun on Saturday and the long run at Braeside on Sunday.

19.01.2022 Happy Australia Day! What is Australias beat running trail? The Warby Trail must come close. Our group enjoyed it this morning.

18.01.2022 For our Sunday run this week (Jan 26- Australia Day!), we will hit the iconic Warby Trail. We meet for car pooling at Edithvale Track to depart at 7.00am. We w...ill start at 7.50am from Mt Evelyn at Monbulk Rd (near the corner of Clancy Rd, at front of the HAPPY TRAILS CAFE and head out along the Warby rail trail: 5km (to Wandin station, with return for a 10km run). I can pick up kids at 5km if that is all they want to do. 8.4km (to Killara, with return for a 16.8km run) 12.4km (to Woori Yallock, with return for a 24.8km run) Those wanting to do slightly different distances could run a min out and back at end to add on, or even walk final section if their programmed distance had passed. Note the 130m elevation difference between Mt Evelyn and Woori Yallock, meaning plenty of uphill running on the return journey. We will hook up for brunch at the caf straight after the run. It is an awesome trail for family /friends to cycle next to you whilst you run. All welcome. See more

18.01.2022 This Sunday, March 8, we will be hitting the well trodden bay trails in the Blackrock Bound (Black rock clock tower to Dendy St Brighton). Its an out and back... and there will be 5/10/15 km options (add more kms as required), mostly running on tracks overlooking the bay and cliffs. We will kick off ~7.30am from outside the playground park/clock tower heading north along the tracks. We are spoilt for choice in post run cafes. We will try for Cafe Odo(opposite the clock tower), although it is very populate so we have back up options. Unsure of pace groups yet, will depend on who can make it. Its quite awesome views on a good day. Hope you can get along and join us. All members and non members are welcome to join us on this run, so please invite family and friends to have a nice Sunday morning run

17.01.2022 April 2020 Running Training Camp There will be a running training camp at Aireys Inlet, from Thursday April 9 until Monday April 13, 2020. It will be an awesome... way to kick-start your latest training campaign and to take your running performances to a new level in the beautiful Great Ocean Rd area. Every session will have the flexibility of catering for runners of all levels. These sessions include: Runs on local beaches including the breathtaking Fairhaven Beach. Trail runs on spectacular single tracks and fire trails around Aireys Inlet and in the surrounding Otways National Park. Runs on the stunning Surf Coast trail with incredible coastal vistas. A hill session on a local groomed dirt road Recovery sessions in the spa bath on site. One on one talks with coach Sean Williams on developing a program to succeed in target races. A tennis tournament on site. A running technique session. Strength training on the beach A Pilates for Runners session Body surfing at the beach. You can do as much of or as little of the program as you wish. COST: Spots at this camp are limited! First in with the $150 deposits get a spot at the camp. This deposit is non refundable The total cost of the camp is $420. Even for example if you can only stay for three nights, the only payment option is the $420. Accommodation is 3 to a room, with a few Queen rooms for couples if you want to come with a partner. (let me know early to snag those). Accommodation/Address: Split Point Cottages, 40 Hopkins St, Aireys Inlet. They are freestanding cottages set on an acre of landscaped native gardens with shared tennis court, outdoor spa and BBQ area. It is s short walk to cafes, restaurants, beach and hotel. HOW TO GET THERE: Driving: Aireys Inlet is 1hr 34min drive from the Melbourne CBD. Take the M1 from Melbourne to Geelong. At Waurn Ponds take the exit towards C134/Torquay/Anglesea/Great Ocean Rd. Follow Anglesea Rd/C134 to Great Ocean Rd/B100 in Aireys Inlet. Juniors will have the opportunity to get a lift to and from the camp from Edithvale. If you are a driver and can assist with transporting runners to and from the camp please let me know. Talk to the other runners and work out who drives, who is a passenger, etc. I would expect passengers to fully reimburse drivers for petrol costs. I can fix you up with a lift with another runner if you dont know anyone else attending. By sharing these costs around, it will be cheap for all. Rail and bus: Catching a train to Geelong then bus to Aireys Inlet takes about 3 hours 15 minutes and costs $18-$26 each way from Southern Cross Station- so add on more if coming from further away in Melbourne. Fly and bus/car: Take a plane to Avalon Airport (Geelong) then take a bus to Geelong and a bus to Aireys Inlet. It will take about 1hr 15min on buses from the airport. Or it is about a 45min drive from the airport to Aireys Inlet if you hire a car or Uber. Meals and Food: Obviously, nutrition is important because of the amount of training that we will be doing. You are expected to prepare your own breakfast, lunch and usually dinner, unless eating out. Everyone is self-catering. Each cottage is equipped with a kitchen which has stoves, ovens, microwaves, fridges, bench tops, and cupboard space. There is a General Store in Aireys Inlet that is close to the cottages. There are supermarkets in Anglesea- 10km away (you may want to pop in there on your way to the camp) If you have special dietary requirements, you will need to look after yourself by bringing your appropriate foods. A popular place for dinner is the Aireys Pub. The own also boasts some restaurants, cafes and Seafood Take Away. Things to bring: 1. Training gear (training shoes, stopwatch, racing flats, singlets, long and short-sleeve t-shirts, running bras, tights, socks, tracksuit and water bottle). Be prepared for wet weather and potentially cold weather whilst running. Thus tracksuits, running gloves, beanies and all weather jackets will be very handy. Please remember water bottles. 11.01.2022 This song is about amazing running shoes. Love em or hate em, they are fast shoes. Credit to Lachie Moorhouse for lending me the starring shoes after his sessi...on today (Ill keep them away from the dog). The Nike Vaporfly shoes have shaken up the running world in a massive way in the last couple of years. The 4% and Next% models have been worn by a huge wave of world and national record breakers, not to mention a massive number of PBers. 10.01.2022 Melbournites are back in lockdown and last time that happened in April-May many runners came out the other side in great condition. e.g. in 5km time trials I pu...t on for 20 runners in June, 49 out of 60 ran PBs. They had stuck to their training programs during lockdown and remained on task. It was exciting to come out the other side with fellow runners and be in small groups and really shine. This will happen again. In the meantime, solo or paired time trials are possible. Those In Melbournes north and west have already been in lockdown for close to a fortnight. One runner who demonstrated that PBs can be done solo is Callum Samuel whom I coach online (he has come to some of our Sunday runs!). Callum Samuel lives in Melbournes north and just ran a 5km PB of 17.59, his third PB in 2020. He is yet another determined individual I have witnessed doing amazing things during this Covid-19 period. If you were one who got into PB shape during the last lockdown, I urge you to get into even better shape this time round. See more

Hopefully wherever you are in this worl...d right now you can still get out there solo and enjoy hammering your favourite hills.
