25.01.2022 HAPPY NATIONAL CAT DAY. Amazing animals, cats were believed to be magical creatures by ancient Egyptians, capable of bringing good luck to those who housed them. More recently, famous people adopted the name - Jane Fonda was Cat Ballou... Steven Demetre Georgiou became Cat Stevens. And of course celebrities from Ricky Gervais and Katy Perry to Cameron Diaz and Ernest Hemingway loved their cats. And despite recording 'Hey Bulldog', even The Beatles were cat lovers! (And cats loved them too.) Have a great day. :)

20.01.2022 Meet our Craftsmen & Women Did you know that our beautifully crafted Sweet Goodbye products are all handmade in either Indonesia or Nepal? In a short series of posts, we’re going to introduce you to some key team members responsible for creating the products of which we’re so proud. They’re all part of small, family-run businesses. Today, we’d like you to meet Sushmita a wool felt maker in Nepal who works for our supplier Felt and Yarn. Sushmita is seen here making a natu...ral, wool felt garland that we include with our Sweet Goodbye CLOUD and COCOON Pet Farewell Kits. Like the rest of us, Sushmita and the whole Nepalese Team have been impacted by COVID-19. With the factory shut down, Sushmita is working from home, sewing together the heart and flower garlands with which to tenderly adorn your pets. Supporting small business in these developing countries is part of our philosophy, as is giving part of our profit to worthy animal welfare charities. Dhan'yavda Sushmita. (That’s Thank you BTW.) 20.01.2022 Some of the BEST MUMS in the world are in the ANIMAL KINGDOM! All mothers are protective of their children, but none more than the lioness. Mother lions and their young cubs spend most of their time away from the pride, with cubs relying entirely on their mothers for up to two years, or until each cub is able to look after itself. There’s nothing the lioness wouldn’t do to protect her cubs from harm. Sweet Goodbye wishes all those wonderfully protective human Mums a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY And if your pet is a great mum too, share a photo of her to celebrate this special day. #animalmums #motherpets #petsonmothersday #queenofthejungle

20.01.2022 ‘A Day in the Life’ by Winston (8 May 2020) Hi All, Today I added another string to my bow when I was asked to be a photographic model and as it was Nat who asked me, of course I said yes. Nat needed a good looking dog to be photographed on her Sweet Goodbye product, the COCOON. It was an early start. I got all spruced up, had Nat brush my coat and then went straight to the catering truck for a pre-shoot breakfast. By the time we hit the set, I was ready to play the star ...as required. I’d read the Brief and there was nothing too difficult for a dog with my consummate stagecraft. Really I just had to sit on a COCOON, (which I must say, was very comfortable) and look good. I gave them my best Derek Zoolander ‘Blue Steel’ look and my Robert Downey Jr. with a hint of humour look. The Director was all Left profile Winston and now right. He seemed very happy with my performance. It’s a tough gig under all those lights and after an hour I was ready for a nap. I wouldn’t want to do it full time like Red Dog or Lassie or that little Eddie in the re-runs of ‘Frasier’ Nat and Dave watch; but it was fun for a morning. (And of course, I got to kiss the leading lady off camera!) Hey, I’d love to see some photos of your celebrity (or near-celebrity) pets. Any movie or TV stars out there? Please share here. ‘Til next time keep chillin’! W.

18.01.2022 Memorial for the Hero Dogs of 9/11 When the World Trade Center collapsed 19 years ago on September 11, 2001, nearly 10,000 emergency rescue workers joined in the efforts to help more than 300 of those heroes were dogs. So along with paying our respects to the thousands of humans who tragically lost their lives on that terrible day and all those human emergency workers, Sweet Goodbye would like to take a moment to remember and honor the Hero Dogs of 9/11. Dogs like Salty, the... Labrador retriever guide dog who led Omar E. Riviera down from the 71st floor of the World Trade Center, after the first jet hit 25 floors above. And Roselle, the yellow Labrador guide dog who led Michael Hingson down from the 78th floor. And bomb-sniffing dog Cyrus. And Bretagne (pronounced Brittany), the golden retriever that was the very last known 9/11 Ground Zero search dog to pass away, just shy of her 17th birthday on June 6, 2016. That day she and her owner/handler Denise Corliss were given a very special day by the people of New York as you can see in this video: https://youtu.be/ezcHy8DkrmE Always remember.

17.01.2022 Our hearts here at Sweet Goodbye go out to all the people and animals impacted by the wildfires throughout the Western United States. Having the same experience ourselves at the beginning of this terrible year, we can truly empathize. Some great tips for keeping your pets safe at this terrible time can be found at: https://www.frontlinewildfire.com/wildfire-pet-safety-101/ Stay safe.

16.01.2022 WORLD PET MEMORIAL DAY June 11 is World Pet Memorial Day. It's a day to remember all the special pets that have been part of our lives from childhood to now, recalling the love they shared with us. Originally created by The American Veterinary Medical Association, this day is so important to Sweet Goodbye, as we spend every day helping pet owners cope with the loss of the beautiful animals that have truly been part of their family. So today, maybe you can visit the place your past pet was laid to rest, or simply a special place you used to go together... and share a photo on your Social pages to keep his or her memory alive. And if you have friends or family in the U.S. about to deal with the loss of a furry friend, perhaps direct them to the Sweet Goodbye online store at: https://www.amazon.com/s?srs=20605599011

16.01.2022 Happy International Dog's Day! Today's the day to take an extra moment to show our furry best friends just how much we love them. The International Fund For Animal Welfare (IFAW) uses this date to call for an improvement in living conditions for dogs all over the world, to raise awareness about the number of dogs that have been abandoned and to encourage us to adopt one. Time to visit your local Rescue Shelter? :)

13.01.2022 ‘A Day in the Life’ by Winston (1 May 2020) Hi All, Today I’d like to introduce you to one of my best mates. Confusingly, his name is also Winston! He’s a Chocolate Lab, just 4 weeks older than me. What are the chances that in a little community like Eagle Bay, with only 70 or so permanent human residents, you’d find two handsome lads named Winston? As our humans seem to have difficulty telling us apart (it’s a worry), they call my mate Winston ‘Brown’, while I’m Winston ‘T...an’. (Clever eh? Not just my colour, but my owner Nat’s name, spelled backwards!). We see each other nearly every day down at the Bay (my favourite place in the whole world, as you’re no doubt starting to realise). We always get so excited when we catch each other’s scent (sometimes from a long way away), but when my humans ask "Where's Winston?" I know exactly who they’re talking about and it ain’t me! The other Winston is very smart too (though he doesn’t write as well as I do) and unlike me, he’s normally very obedient to his humans’ commands - except when he realises I’m nearby. He has an amazing sense of smell and as soon as he catches a whiff of me, he’s off and running, despite his humans calling after him to Stay. But they’re not really concerned as they know they’ll always find him further down the beach, playing with me. I have to say, ‘Winston B’ is ball obsessed. While I like to chase a ball as much as the next dog, I’m just as happy with sticks or a sand ball thrown in the sea. It’s great fun chasing down anything, then being chased myself, but I’m not that big on bringing a ball back. My mate on the other hand has that retriever blood in him and just loves playing fetch. Without him, all our tennis balls would end up out at sea. I might get to the ball first, but good ol’ Mr Reliable will do the follow up work every time. Of course, he waits until I’ve given him the okay to collect and return the ball. We make a perfect Tag Team. Well, now you’ve met Winston B. ‘Til next time keep chillin’! ‘W.T.’

13.01.2022 Some wonderful tips from our Ambassador, Dr Katrina, on caring for our beautiful senior pets. Thanks Katrina.

11.01.2022 ‘A Day in the Life’ by Winston (21 April 2020) Hi All, Here’s my first real ‘Day in the Life of Winston’ post. Today I went for one of my regular swims at Eagle Bay in the beautiful south west corner of Australia. It was a very calm day and the bay was like a turquoise pool. I got such a kick, swimming around in the shallows like a seal. While I was swimming, my humans Nat and Dave walked along the beach, parallel to me. They always roll up balls of wet sand and throw them ...into the sea, while I leap into the air and run and crash through the waves trying to catch them. (One day I will, I swear!) I can sit for hours in water up to my chin - like those Snow Monkeys you see in Japan, soaking in hot springs but the minute there’s a sand ball in the air, it’s mine and I’m power swimming towards it! Today I also helped a couple of local fishermen find and round up some Whiting, chasing a school towards their nets. They rewarded me by sharing a bit of their catch, which Nat cooked up for dinner. (Mmmm.) So that was today. I’ll be back with another post soon. Keep chillin’!

11.01.2022 Meet Dr Katrina's Isolation Buddy, Chill. (Thnx for sharing Kat.)

09.01.2022 Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day ... a special day for us to honour the memory of those beloved pets we've loved and lost, but never forgotten. In some ways it’s a sad day, but it’s also a beautiful one. Please feel free to share the love and post photos and memories of your pets who have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. In the meantime if you know friends with pets about to cross the Rainbow Bridge, you can tell them about our Sweet Goodbye products available through Amazon (USA) and Etsy (Australia).

08.01.2022 ‘A Day in the Life’ by Winston (19 April 2020) Hi Facebook Followers, my name is Winston Camp Dog and best friend of Sweet Goodbye Founder Natalie and her husband Dave. Nat’s asked me to write some semi-regular posts describing ‘A Day in the Life’ of me, which she thought you may like. I’ll make them short, (as I know you humans have limited attention spans), but I hope you’ll find them interesting... and a bit of fun. I’m a 3 and a half year old mixed breed rescue pup ... part Ridgeback, Staffy and Cattle Dog. I came from a little town in the Mid-West region of Western Australia called Meekatharra. I’m what’s commonly called a ‘Camp Dog’ - a term for all domestic dogs living in remote indigenous communities. Natalie and Dave brought me home to their place when I was just 8 weeks old. (See pic. - pretty cute little tacker, wasn’t I?) Apparently I was named due to my humans’ interest in the Arts. Seems they liked Harvey Keitel’s character Winston Wolf in ‘Pulp Fiction’ and the Steven Mackintosh character in ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’. And as fans of The Beatles, they also liked the link to John Lennon’s original middle name. (I’m running with that last one, hence the title of my series of posts.) I’ve shared all sorts of adventures with Nat and Dave and just day-to-day stuff that we enjoy doing together, which I’ll tell you all about. You’ll meet some of my canine mates too, like Skylar, Coco, Koomba and Linguini - (imagine a hound with German heritage and an Italian name! He’s good fun though.) My first diary post will appear soon (well, as soon as those mates of mine have signed their disclaimers). I think I write okay for a Camp Dog hope you come to think so too. Take care! W.

08.01.2022 ‘A Day in the Life’ by Winston (8 July 2020) Hi All, Here in WA we’re now in the middle month of Winter and it’s been cold! I am kinda spoilt though as you’ll see in these photos. Nat and Dave have provided me with all the comforts of home, especially on a dark and stormy Winter’s day. I simply love getting rugged up in my Hamish McBeth PJs and warming my paws by the fire. Sometimes I literally have to sit on top of Dave when he’s forgotten that this is my spot on the couch. Of course, both my caring humans make sure I don’t get too close to the heat. Nobody wants a singed Winston, right? (Spoiled? Moi?) Wherever you are in the world, stay warm or be cool. ‘Til next time (if you’re like me) keep chillin’! ;) W.

06.01.2022 On ANZAC Day, Sweet Goodbye takes a moment to honour the amazing animals that served beside our human heroes in conflicts past and present. Deep in the Libyan desert in 1941, Private Jim Moody found a starving Terrier puppy and named him Horrie. The pup quickly became the mascot of the 2/1st Machine Gun Battalion, providing companionship and relief to thousands of Aussie Diggers. But Horrie was more than just a loyal companion. He had an extremely sharp sense of hearing that ...enabled him to detect the sound of enemy aircraft well before they were seen or heard by the troops. As planes approached from far away, Horrie would sit and face the sky and let out a distinctive growl an early warning for troops to hurry to the trenches. As a result, Horrie literally saved the lives of hundreds of Australian soldiers. In his time with the 2/1st Machine Gun Battalion, Horrie survived a bomb splinter injury in his leg and he endured a freezing cold Syrian winter, wrapped in cloth cut from a soldier’s tunic. Eventually, he was smuggled in a traveling pack through Libya, Egypt, Greece, Crete, Palestine, Syria and eventually back to Australia where he lived on with Private Moody. Let us know if your furry friend has done something extraordinary, or even heroic. Just add your comment below. #mansbestfriend #petshelpingpeople #petheroes

05.01.2022 World Animal Day was October 4 around the world and Sweet Goodbye wants to keep it top of mind for much longer. This special day is all about raising the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. We support animal welfare organisations including Animals Asia and The Orangutan Project and encourage you too, to support their great work. The beautiful Moon Bear below was rescued from his cage by Animals Asia and now lives at their sanctuary in Vietnam. Please keep doing your bit to make this a better world for all animals.

04.01.2022 ‘A Day in the Life’ by Winston (17 June 2020) Hi All, The Backseat Driver’s on the road again! After a long time in Lockdown, I was thrilled to get out of the house today when Nat took me for a ride to the office (hence the natty bowtie). I do love a good car ride... Nat only has to jangle the car keys, grab my lead or say Car Winston and I’m ready to go, bouncing around until the car door opens, then leaping ecstatically into the backseat pure euphoria. I guess it feed...s my sense of adventure as I anticipate exploring new sites, sounds and smells. I do admit though that I’m a bit of a Backseat Driver. While most dogs I know like to stick their head out the back window and feel the wind in their fur, I tend to watch things through the front windscreen. It’s not that I don’t trust Nat’s driving she’s actually pretty good. But I always want to make sure she doesn’t miss the turnoffs to my favourite track or the beach. And if I see another dog I know (or one I’d like to!), I do tend to ask her to stop, so I can say hello. (That’s me yelling SLOW DOWN NAT in the second photo.) But Nat’s a very focused driver and when she has a destination in mind, there’s no stopping her no matter what directions I provide. (I sometimes really wish I had my own license now THAT would make a good post!) ‘Til next time keep chillin’! W.

02.01.2022 ‘A Day in the Life’ by Winston (18 August 2020) Hi Folks, Sorry it's been a while between posts, but I've been busy. You see, Nat, Dave and myself decided it was time we all went on a family holiday somewhere warm. This COVID thing meant most travel was out of the question, but I have to say, holidaying at home in WA is working out just fine for me! We drove way up north - even farther than Meekatharra, where I was born - ‘til we reached Exmouth. Of course, there were plen...ty of pit stops (careful how you say that) so I could mark my trail along the way. Almost every day we’ve been out exploring the local canals in our tinny. I'm on lookout duty and have seen everything from dolphins and turtles to whales! Heaps of fish too. I've even helped Nat and Dave catch a few Bream for tea. Apparently there are dingoes around and while I haven’t seen one yet, the picture on the warning signs looks a bit like me. I have come across some emus and 'roos. (Those big birds don’t look too friendly, let me tell you.) We walk hours every day, sometimes out on the reef and over sand bars discovering all sorts of interesting things... even a shipwreck that’s over 100 years old! And amazingly, there’s a place up here called ‘Winston’s Backpackers’ - how good is that?! Dave takes me past it most mornings as we head into town to get his coffee and it always makes me smile. Back at our temporary home, I just chill out on the veranda watching the people and boats on the canal in the sunshine what a great way to spend the last month of Winter. Ah, the serenity! Hope you've had the chance for some R 'n' R during this crazy time. ‘Til next we chat keep chillin’! W.

01.01.2022 With an initiative called 'Walk This May', the RSPCA in Australia is asking animal lovers to step it up (literally and figuratively) by lacing up their sneakers, putting their furry friends on a lead and engaging in some socially responsible exercise. Walk your dog for just 30 minutes a day this May and you can help more than 30,000 mistreated, abandoned and abused dogs that arrive at an RSPCA shelter every year. Sweet Goodbye encourages you to 'Walk This May' to fight animal cruelty! Details at: https://www.millionpawswalk.com.au/

01.01.2022 ‘A Day in the Life’ by Winston (9 September 2020) IT’S MY BIRTHDAY! Yep... I'm 4 years old today. And my wonderful humans really spoiled me. First, it was a whale watching trip during which we saw dugongs, turtles, dolphins, a sea snake and of course, whales. (I was SO tempted to jump in for a swim with them). Then today, Nat and Dave gave me a beautiful card with a Lab on the front (just like my best mate Winston Brown) and a special present filled with all sorts of edible treats and some plush toys for me to destroy. I’m a lucky guy! Thanks Nat & Dave. ‘Til next we chat keep chillin’! W.

01.01.2022 In many parts of the world, it’s Father’s Day so we at Sweet Goodbye wish a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the dads out there, both human and animal alike! Talk about dedication did you know that male seahorses go above and beyond when it comes to parenting? They are one of the only species in nature to have male pregnancy! That’s right, the mom deposits her eggs into the male’s pouch, then he fertilizes and incubates them for 45 days until they are born as full-on tiny seahorses. Seahorse dads may not experience morning sickness, but they do have to endure contractions as they go through labor. Here’s to ALL dedicated dads on this special day and if your pet is a great father too, share a photo so we can all acknowledge him. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY #animaldads #fatherpets #petsonfathersday
