24.01.2022 I’m often asked how I got into creating cakes... I wanted to make something beautiful and special for my daughter’s first birthday cake. It’s something I decided to value as a Mum and I wanted it to be perfect! I chose a design I thought I could achieve, watched countless YouTube tutorials, bought the few things I needed to make it happen and spent hours (yes...actually hours) piping tiny buttercream stars onto her rainbow butterfly cake the night before her party. My back h...urt, I was tired, my hands were stained rainbow but it was all worth it to see the finished creation and the smile it brought to Kim’s face. That moment was magic. It sparked a love in me for creating beautiful, personal edible art and celebrating the people who’s faces light up when they enjoy them. Some of the best things in life can sometimes be hard work and incredibly challenging but if they keep you inspired and striving to be the best version of yourself, then perhaps all the hard work is worth it. 11.01.2022 People come, and people go...But then there are people who have made such a profound impact on your life that even when they are no longer with you, they’re never fully gone - though we miss them terribly. My Aunty Gloria was one of the most incredible women in my life. She was, among many things, an extremely talented cake decorator. She was also my biggest encourager and mentor when it came to my own cake creations although I still have lots to learn. I will always be so grateful for her. I am painfully sad to no longer be able to share with and learn from her, but I’m so so thankful she shared her passion, love, time and encouragement with me. Thank you, Aunty Gloria. I love you and I’ll miss you. X
