23.01.2022 Something new from something old! Here is a before and after photo of a cushion I repaired this week. The tapestry was hand made and special, but the cushion it was attached to was a bit old and worn. Some new black velvet material and filling for the inside and the cushion is like new again. A darker lace really makes the colours on the tapestry stand out. A new zip was added in the back for convenience. The tapestry and lace were hand stitched to the newly made cushion and... cover. 02.01.2022 Jackets! Jackets! Jackets! This week I had 3 jackets to do, each with different problems. This first was a school jacket that had a big tear below the right hand pocket. As you can see in the picture, I stitched up the tear so the jacket is completely usable again. I also secured the top and bottom of the pockets so they would not tear again easily. It is a tough fix but one that will allow the jacket to be used for a lot longer, rather than having to buy a new one.... School clothes are always so expensive and are quite easily damaged during everyday use. On most occasions it is much more cost effective to have them repaired and strengthened. The second was a zip replacement for a jacket that was no longer usable due to the zip breaking. Now the jacket is back to being used everyday, another cost saving :-) The third jacket had a ripped lining and again was in need of repairs. Another job completed and another jacket that is like new again.
