02.01.2022 The profile picture of a desk is more than just a desk and more than a photo, it is the piece of work that I produced in year 12, 2019. It is my original design made with passion and love. A passion for working with timber is one that my grandfather passed down to me - the love of making things from timber and turning lovely smelling timber that becomes a masterpiece no matter how big or small. I am a 19 year old beginning a journey to achieve one of my biggest dreams. I hav...e always wanted to carry on the tradition of working with wood and woodturning that my grandfather has done for many years. I remember asking, Pa can I have a go one day please and one day my turn came, I made my very first honey dipper, while he stood my me helping me learn how to work with the timber. These are the memories that I will carry with myself for the rest of my life, and this is a huge reason why I have started SWEET MEMORIES RESTORED - to be able to restore aged furniture hold a place in your heart, to re-create a piece you have seen bringing a memory to life and to assist to design and then manufacture a project that you have dreamt about making. The timber used in my desk was sourced from a wholesaler as a raw sawn unfinished product from which I had to finish, cut, turn, router, sand etc to produce the desk you see today. Working on it when school commenced in February and it was completed for the exhibition and marking in August. This desk will be shown in the Intech Exhibition in Sydney rescheduled to September 2020 nominated by the HSC Markers.
