23.01.2022 Did you know that Autumn is the best time to get your horse tested for Cushing's disease (Pituitary Pars intermedia Dysfunction or PPID)? The simple blood test involves measuring the endogenous Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH), which fluctuates during the year and is influenced by the horse's naturally occurring circadian rhythm. Autumn is recognised as the best time to test horses suspected of having Cushing's disease, as horses with Cushing's disease have a much greater increase in ACTH than normal horses, compared to ACTH levels at any other time of the year. 05.01.2022 Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather!! Did you know that horses can, on average, drink 20-40L per day!. On hot days this can increase to upto 50L!! How are your water troughs looking?? Make sure your horse always has access to clean fresh water, not only on hot days!
