23.01.2022 If only all employers thought this way...do you have a great boss?

22.01.2022 The Importance of Professional/Career Profiles on Your Resume: A Professional or Career Profile is one of the most important sections of your Resume. This section should be placed at the top of the very 1st page of your Resume, just under your personal details. It is strategically placed here to ensure it provides the reader with a snapshot of who you are as a professional, how many years experience you have and what your key skills/expertise/strengths are. Once the reader has viewed this information, it is hoped that they will be enticed to read the remainder of your Resume. Where possible, this profile should also be targeted to the position you are applying for by including information that addresses the key criteria for the role.

18.01.2022 Hi everyone, hope you are all well and surviving this madness that is the lead up to Christmas. It has been extremely busy here at Swift Career Solutions HQ and it's great to see so many job seekers not giving up on their job search, just because the end of year is approaching. We only have a small number of bookings left until we close over the Christmas/New Year period, so please let us know if we can be of any assistance:) Enjoy the rest of your week :) Chrissy x

18.01.2022 Can anyone relate to this?

17.01.2022 Hi everyone! My apologies for being rather slow on the facebook posts...it has been very busy the last month! Hope you're all going well:) Just a little reminder to all of you currently applying for jobs at the moment....make sure you print off every job you apply for and keep these job ads in a folder that you can quickly access if you receive a call back. It's also a good idea to do some basic research on the company (if known) and position, and write down some notes on the job ad so you are ready if the call back is actually a phone interview. Trust me, it works!

16.01.2022 HOW TO PRESENT GAPS IN EMPLOYMENT ON YOUR RESUME. Sometimes throughout a person’s career, periods of unemployment are likely to occur. This could be for a variety of reasons, including being made redundant; contracts ceasing; dismissals; maternity/paternity leave; unable to find suitable employment; un-forseen circumstances etc. Whatever the cause, long periods of unemployment (generally more than 3 months) will be questioned by Employers/Recruiters. 1) Provide an explanatio...n. If possible, it is always best to be honest and upfront on your Resume by providing explanations for any gaps in employment. For example, if you took 3 months off to travel overseas then state this on your Resume by providing the date range and a statement such as ‘Travelled Overseas’. If you took 6 months off in between jobs to undertake a course, then provide the date range and state ‘Completed Certificate III in XYZ course’. If you were made redundant from a position, then state that the position was made redundant and you were actively seeking work. It is best to clearly tell the reader what you were doing in this time rather than leaving it to their imagination. 2) Returning to the workforce. If you are returning to the workforce after years of unemployment due to raising a family, again I would urge you to explain this on your Resume. Try to also ‘think outside the square’ here and perhaps provide a short statement as to other things you were involved in during this time. You may have volunteered at your kid’s school, or were part of their sports team etc. This is a great way to demonstrate your positive contribution to other organisations, whilst utilising many professional skills such as interpersonal and communication skills. 3) Short Periods of Employment When things go wrong. Not every jobseeker is lucky enough to have a great working relationship with their Employer. Conflict between Employers and Employees is, unfortunately, very common in the workplace. As a result, Employees may either be dismissed by an Employer or make the choice to leave themselves. So what do you do when things go wrong? You do not need to provide reasons for leaving positions on your Resume, however, if you were only employed for a short period of time, be prepared for the Recruiter/Employer to ask you why during a phone or face to face interview. You must be very careful how you respond to this question as you don’t want to come across as a disgruntled employee who causes conflict. Try to be as honest and diplomatic as possible, without going into too much detail. Do not speak badly about any previous Employers, but instead explain that you did not feel that you fit the company culture or the management style was not allowing you to achieve your career aspirations.

15.01.2022 WHY LISTING ACHIEVEMENTS ON YOUR RESUME IS SO IMPORTANT. Achievements or accomplishments are almost always overlooked by jobseekers on their Resumes. This is usually because the majority of jobseekers believe they haven’t achieved anything worth mentioning on their Resumes. With proper guidance and thought, you will find that you have accomplished more than you think throughout your career and may even surprise yourself! Why are achievements or accomplishments so important?...Continue reading

14.01.2022 With the Christmas holidays fast approaching, you may be thinking of winding down your job search until the new year. This is a great article that highlights all the reasons why you should keep up with your job search right through the holiday period:) http://theundercoverrecruiter.com/keep-up-job-search-holid/

10.01.2022 WOW! It's November already...I'm still trying to work out where October went haha! Hope all of you have a great month and with the count down on until the end of the year, NOW is the perfect time to get yourself organised and get your #Resume updated! This week I am working on Resumes for an Electrician, a Nurse, a Case Manager and an Administrator....one thing all these clients have in common is that they are all currently employed, but want to update their Resumes so that they are ready to go if a position does become available. Pro-activeness is key when it comes your #jobsearch, so please do not wait until the last minute to update your application documents:) #CV #lookingforwork #jobapplication

10.01.2022 Not sure if I would advise you to do this in an interview haha but how very clever;)

09.01.2022 Hi everyone, Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and are refreshed, recharged and ready for an amazing 2016! Over the holidays, I spoke with many people who have decided that they will be looking for a new job this year. What I found interesting was that many of them have been with their current employers for 10+ years. Long-term employment with one company can often make looking for a new job very daunting, so my advice is to take it slow. ... It is very important to prepare yourself mentally first and set yourself small goals before actively applying for a new role. Start by brainstorming roles or companies you would like to work for, update your Resume, research different interview styles and questions....basically be fully prepared for the job search process. This will ensure you are well-prepared, confident and will make the whole experience more positive. We are back in the office today and are looking forward to working with you in 2016. Best wishes x

06.01.2022 I personally think that Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) or Resume Screening software should NOT be used as part of the selection/recruitment process. I strongly believe that more and more HR and recruitment specialists will rely less on their usage and more on their human analytical skills over the next year - research is also showing less and less companies relying on ATSs. Great news for jobseekers:)) http://www.greatresumesfast.com//demise-applicant-trackin/

06.01.2022 Very sad news for Masters' employees this morning :( http://www.abc.net.au//woolworths-to-exit-masters-/7094858

05.01.2022 Love this! Just goes to show that one person's opinion should never stop you from achieving your dreams. Love Meryl Streep <3

04.01.2022 Hi Guys, Well, I can't believe it's that time of the year again! Where has this year gone? For me personally, it has been a great year:) Lots of new adventures and some major 'stepping out of my comfort zone' with different projects and contracts I had the pleasure of consulting on:) Not to mention being a working Mum for the first time - hats off to all the working Mums and Dads out there, it really is a juggling act sometimes! But wine always helps lol! I would like to take... this opportunity to once again thank-you all from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and my business. We will be heading into our 7th year next year and I truly believe we have made it this far because of your loyalty and ongoing referrals. May this Christmas and New Year bring you peace, happiness and everything you wish for. It is around this time of year that most people reflect on their personal and professional lives. If you are not fulfilled with were you are heading in your career, it is never too late to make a change. I worked with a client this year who after 25 years with the same company, decided he wanted a totally different career at the age of 57 and he made it happen! He completed the necessary qualifications, networked like there is no tomorrow and is now working in his dream job - what an inspiration! Make a promise to yourself that no matter how long it takes you to reach your goal, you will never stop trying. We will be taking a break from Monday 21st December and will be back on deck on Monday, 11th January 2016. Stay safe over this festive season and I look forward to catching up with you all in the new year. x Chrissy x

02.01.2022 I am someone who doesn't really like change and I have worked hard over the years to accept that change is inevitable in life. A valuable lesson I have learnt is that often change can lead you to amazing new adventures and opportunities that you would never have thought of exploring before. It is very hard sometimes to let go of what you have always known and step outside your comfort zone, but what's harder, is never learning your true potential.
