24.01.2022 2020 has again shown us the importance of our Bush Nursing Centre in the community - from drought to bushfires to COVID our wonderful nurses have been there supporting us. Our AGM is on next Wednesday 7th at 5.30pm. We need a minimum number of people to attend to make it a valid AGM. Can all community members please make an effort to join the AGM. We will be making a special presentation of a Life Membership to Marlis Glasl. ... Due to COVID the AGM will be on line. I'm sure over the last 6 months many of you (or your kids or grandkids) have become experts at online meetings! Please contact the centre to have the Zoom meeting link sent to you. 23.01.2022 This week is National Volunteer Week. The Swifts Creek Bush Nursing Centre has been run by a volunteer committee of management for over 100 years. The dedication and passion of the volunteers who serve on the committee (and those who have previously served) and quietly go about their business of running the Bush Nursing Centre is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU! Our Prime Minister said this week about volunteers "You are at the heart of our country, and your quiet actions are... the threads that tie us all together. Australia is so grateful" Our current President featured this week in an article by Netball Victoria recognising the contribution of volunteers. Well done and thankyou Kath for all you do for the community. 20.01.2022 Happy International Nurses Day Today we say thanks to our wonderful Bush Nurse Manager Sue Carroll and all the nurses who assist at the centre. We also say thanks to all nurses everywhere who work tirelessly everyday but especially during the COVID19 pandemic. "Historically, as well as today, nurses are at the forefront of fighting epidemics and pandemics - providing high quality and respectful treatment and care. They are often the first and sometimes the only health professional that people see and the quality of their initial assessment, care and treatment is vital." WHO 2020

16.01.2022 We wish to say a big thanks to the Lions Club of Bairnsdale for a very generous donation recently. Murray Goff President, Bairnsdale Lions CLub said "We know that during times of disaster and community trauma the Bush Nursing teams are placed in a position of trusted leadership.... Very often this leadership is not recognised as you inevitably get on with caring for your community" Thank you Murray for your kind words and recognition of the amazing work of our Bush Nurses. The funds will be put good use in supporting the ongoing work looking after the health needs of the Swifts Creek community. Lions Australia ABC Gippsland
