20.01.2022 Happy Early Childhood Educator Day to each and every one of our incredible educators! Swinburne Childrens Centres would not be the amazing place it is without your dedication and resilience. 2020 has presented immense challenges in our sector and as essential workers you have had to keep on keeping on in support of the families and children who need you....For that we say a huge "Thank You" and appreciate your efforts and contributions in circumstances we could never have imagined before. We are grateful to have you and value your contributions. Families, we miss you all, please feel free to leave some notes or comments and say "Hi" here in the post to reach our amazing educators and help to make their day!!!

17.01.2022 Puppets are a beautiful way to engage with children. A puppet may support children to express their feelings and ideas, they might be used as a friend for a child in a new setting or they may be role models for the children to be lead by (just to name a few). Learning can be so diverse when puppets are around! Here's a couple of pics of our Toddlers at SCC Lilydale, interacting with the puppets and their Educator.

17.01.2022 Hello families, We thought it really important to keep up our Community Pantry going, so we now have some items for you in a basket at the front door. Please feel free to take some pantry items, or make a donation!

With a little bit of fine tuning, we hope to see the children flourish through exciting new learning opportunities. Stay tuned for further developments in the coming future.

16.01.2022 Take the time to say Thank You! Early Childhood Educator's Day 2020 #LoveMyECE #EarlyChildhoodEducatorsDay

14.01.2022 This morning our children at SCC Lilydale discussed what we can do to help others when they are sick, in recognition of Daffodil Day today.

12.01.2022 "Children are active learners, exploring the world through touch, sight, sound, taste, smell and movement. The child's brain develops rapidly through physical explorations and their active engagement with others who speak and respond to their interests." (VEYLF Outcome 4) The Educators a SCC Lilydale strongly support sensory and interactive exploration. The babies have been particularly engaged in these kinds of experiences in recent weeks and are absolutely loving it!

11.01.2022 "Children's involvement in learning changes what they know, what they can do, what they value, and transforms their learning. When provided with many opportunities and a rich supply of natural and manufactured materials and tools, children create, build, sculpt, draw, paint and construct, and they enjoy taking part in sustained shared conversations focused on their interests." (VEYLF Outcome 4) Here's a few photo's of the journey our SCC Lilydale Toddler/Kinder group have taken over the past two months with their Educators, exploring the story of Bundjil the Eagle. Too much time can never be spent on valuable learning.

05.01.2022 Public Holiday Reminder - Our Centres will be closed on Friday 23rd October for the Grand Final public holiday AND also on Tuesday November 3rd for Melbourne Cup Day. Fingers crossed that we might all be able to see our friends and family by then!!

05.01.2022 "Children are effective communicators. Their communication and self expression take many forms including sharing stories and symbols from their own culture, re-enacting well known stories and using creative arts such as drawing, painting, and sculpture, drama, dance, music and movement to communicate with others. They create and explore imaginary worlds through dramatic play and through artworks." (VEYLF: Outcome 5) Children at SCC Lilydale are supported by their Educators to explore creative arts, developing their vocabulary and verbal expressions. Clay is a wonderful tool for this.

04.01.2022 Charlie Silly Pants has created a YouTube channel for children. Charlie Silly Pants has been attending Swinburne Children's Centres for years, to bring joy and laughter to our children, and you may have seen him at one of our End of Year Community Events. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcRBUV6fYt7sr1l4RVMnurg

03.01.2022 Swinburne Children’s Centre Lilydale will offer an Early Start Kindergarten program for 3 year old’s and a fully funded Kindergarten Program for children who are 4, or turning 4 before the 30th of April of that same year in 2021. The integrated Kindergarten program is open to all families as a flexible option. The Kindergarten curriculum is very much child and family focused and reflective of each child’s interests. The foundation of the program is to promote educational outcomes highlighted in ‘The Victorian Early Years Learning Framework. If you're interested in enrolling your child in either of the programs, make sure you reach out to us by emailing [email protected]. We will be looking to secure positions for January in November this year.

03.01.2022 Wednesday 2nd September was National Early Childhood Educators day! Since staff are currently working part-time from home, our View St manager decided to celebrate last week and today! The view street staff were treated to a charcuterie table, a pamper pack and individualised letters from their manager. We also received a beautiful delivery of thank you cupcakes from one of our amazing families! We have amazing educators, who show such dedication to their roles, and we hope that they enjoyed being celebrated, recognised and so very valued. Please note that food was served with Covid safety and hygiene in mind!

01.01.2022 "The child is made of one hundred. The child has a hundred languages, a hundred hands, a hundred thoughts, a hundred ways of thinking, of playing, of speaking. A hundred always a hundred, ways of listening, of marvelling, of loving, a hundred joys for singing and understanding, a hundred worlds to discover, a hundred worlds to invent, a hundred worlds to dream. The child has a hundred languages (and a hundred, hundred, hundred more)." Loris Malaguzzi
