23.01.2022 You may have noticed this about your child already.

22.01.2022 This is what we do at Swing High to help our young clients get back to a wonderful childhood. It's play therapy at it's best.

21.01.2022 Calm is not the point.

19.01.2022 Thanks to all the amazing children’s book authors. You bring so much joy, delight and entertainment to our children. You make such an important contribution to the lives of our young. Keep on.

18.01.2022 Isn't this something we all know in our hearts....the best for our kids

17.01.2022 childbehaviour#childanxiety# therapy# CHILDREN ARE CONFUSED This week I worked with a young client that was so confused by what was happening in his life that he just couldn't behave in a way that was functional for him.......couldn't concentrate at school, couldn't tell anyone about how he felt, and definitely couldn't face telling a therapist, a stranger, the overwhelming emotions that were swirling around in his body. So the only reason that he was eventually able to reach out for help was that his parent and I waited till he was ready. Listening to a child's verbal and physical and emotional cues with patience are vital.

17.01.2022 So they make up the whole beautiful child.

17.01.2022 Helping your child to work through emotions can help strengthen your relational connection. Lisa Dion trains therapists around the world......including me. Thanks Lisa.

15.01.2022 YOUNG MEN SHOWING THEY CARE. PLEASE WATCH. I am faced often with parents so concerned about their sons........often anxious, depressed, but wont reach out for help. Good on you guys......taking action.

15.01.2022 This is such a great image. Might be something to help kids understand how their brains work and how their brain works with behaviours.

13.01.2022 Therapists have Mums too. I was sitting in my garden admiring my white arium lily. My memory opened up to all the times my Mum just sat with me, her child, so long ago. I wish I could bring her back and tell her what she gave me..... A safe place, a place I could hide, a place to grow, a place to be myself and a place to be loved.

12.01.2022 MY SON SENT ME THIS. THANKS. I KNOW THAT 14 MIGHT HAVE BEEN A BIT LIKE THIS FOR YOU TOO.

10.01.2022 Parenting is so so like this. When I first became a parent it was definitely'the best until I know better'. There is so so much to learn.

10.01.2022 Practising Play Therapy with children is a privilege.

07.01.2022 PARENTS OFTEN NEED TIME OUT TOO.

07.01.2022 We need to look after our husbands, fathers, sons, uncles, brothers, nephews, father-in-laws, brother-in-laws, grandfathers and friends. They are all part of someone's family. Families can look after each other. As a therapist I listen to lots of young boys. It's the teenage boys that don't like to enter my door sometimes.... They need support and care a lot. See more

06.01.2022 This is such a helpful hint in helping your child and yourself as well.

04.01.2022 Being calm is one of the most misunderstood parts of regulation. Being calm is not the point- learning how to stay mindfully connected to ourselves in the mi...dst of the internal activation we experience is the the goal of learning how to regulate. When we put more value on being calm, we not only send a message that the other emotional states inside us are not as good setting ourselves up to feel guilt and shame when they arise or when being calm is a struggle, but we also set the stage to inadvertently bypass the most important part of the regulation experience- Learning how to mindfully be with all aspects of our human experience.

04.01.2022 This is so important for kids especially when technology is important too.

04.01.2022 WE REALLY NEED TO EMBRACE THIS FOR OUR CHILDREN AND FOR OURSELVES. I would not miss for the world my opportunity to be part of my grandchildrens' lives. I so love to play with them as they love to play with me. I enter their world and together we learn so much from each other. And then together we can breathe through our differences and regulate our nervous systems together in a loving gentle way that helps both of us.

04.01.2022 Thanks to my Mum.

02.01.2022 This has been so important for me. And I learn so much when I am supported to get through it. I know I'll get through it if I have done it before. 'over it' makes it worse.........where's the learning?

02.01.2022 I hear this so much from parents. But we don't always need to fill the space children experience. Let them grow through the feeling.

01.01.2022 This is a beautiful explanation of play therapy from a colleague. At Swing High we offer Play therapy to kids 3 to 12 years and adolescents. Even adults find play therapy to be helpful. We are at Palmwoods on the Sunshine Coat.
