Club Maxies Online from Melbourne - Friday 22 May 2020, 6.30 - around 11pm The Maxies team are embracing "the new normal" this week and going online via Swing Patrol's Zoom. Drop in any time, enjoy the music, dance, eat, drink or chat. There'll be a Balboa video presentation, sharing of clips and pics, a bunch of DJs playing cool tunes, and fun people hanging out. We'll have a few "break out rooms" with different activities. The traditional Maxies pizza comes in the form of a shared pizza-making session at 6.30pm. 20.01.2022 Swing Pit is on tonight! Trudi and Dean are bringing us glam in our level 2 class, focusing on Hollywood style lindy hop in honour of Irene Thomas. Then I level 1 they will be teaching 6 count lindy hop. We're sure in for a treat tonight! Please be aware of the current hygiene practices being put in place because of COVID-19. We ask that you wash your hands before and after class, use the hand sanitiser and tissues provided, and if you are feeling unwell please stay home and recover and look after yourself and join us on the next swing pit! 12.01.2022 The next DJ making their debut at Swing Pit this week is DJ Andy! Having DJed blues before, you can be sure to expect some lovely slower songs to get you in the mood to practice what you learnt in class.

12.01.2022 Swing Pit is on tonight!! We're bringing back our Intermediate class at 7pm and Beginners at 8pm. So put on your dancing shoes and come on down for a dance with us!

10.01.2022 Swing Pit Sydney and COVID-19 Dear Dancers and Friends, As you may already know Swing Patrol is now in complete shutdown until it is safe again for us and more importantly you. This, of course, includes Swing Pit as we are trying to do what we can to help flatten the curve of this virus and do our part to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.... Even though it is with a heavy heart that we put Swing Pit on hold, that doesnt mean our dancing has to stop! There are so many wonderful initiatives coming through the Swing Scene from all over the world. There are dance challenges, band live stream meetups, online classes and privates from teachers, and videos coming out that give you a move of the week to practice and master! So many wonderful things are still happening in our dance community that can keep our dance practice going in these uncertain times. It is going to be a tough time for everyone and no one knows how this will unfold. However, we also want to do what we can to support our scene and the amazing bands that we get to hear play at our various events. Since we cant go out and see our favourite bands, see if they are doing a live stream on Facebook, or buy a CD or merchandise. If you really want to work on a certain part of your dancing, contact your teachers or other teachers offering online privates and classes and continue to improve your dancing. We are all trying to navigate this uncharted territory and why not do our best to continue to support our community. Whilst we are on hold, you can still stay connected via the Swing Patrol Sydney Facebook page and the pages of your favourite venues. You can also find out what is happening through the Sydney, Let's Swing Dance! Facebook page that will provide you with links to live streams and dance-related content. 03.01.2022 Swing Pit is on tonight!! Here's some class content for you At 7pm in our level 2 slot: the class will give you an introduction to a style of Blues dancing called Ballrooming Blues. Then we'll add some beautiful flowing moves to have you gliding across the floor in no time. This class is suitable for everyone: whether you're new to Blues or an old hand, you'll get something new from this class as we'll start easy but gradually ramp up the challenge as the class progresses.... Then at 8pm for our level 1 class: Jo and Andy will take you through the basics of swing dancing and add some fun moves to play with. We'll be focusing on how to create beautiful smooth flow in our swing dancing, and tap into some cool techniques for dancing to slower swing music. This class is suitable for everyone from complete beginners through to people with Swing experience who are looking to improve their connection and flow.
