23.01.2022 PEOPLE OF SWINBURNE Meet Maria Bogtor Mentor and SSL Volunteer... My name is Maria, I am a Peer-Mentor and Volunteer. Studying online was a challenge for me so I decided to underload this year and to take a unit at Swinburne Online during Teaching Period 2. I found it very helpful and less stressful that my units were spread out over a few more months. I also live with my family, so it really gave me the chance to build a better relationship with my siblings. During COVID I helped start the Swinburne Management and Marketing Club and achieved the position of Vice President and Treasurer. One way I was able to stay connected with the community as Student Life Volunteer was participate in the Action August Challenge. It was the most enjoyable event I participated in in 2020. Shout out to my team, The Disaster State for winning first prize. Y’all the best! I think lockdown was a blessing and a curse. As much as we lost many privileges we also gained and achieved things we probably would have not done, at least that’s how I see it personally. Swinburne students you all are doing a great job, keep It up! Thanks for sharing your experience, Maria To participate, share your pandemic story, useful tips and achievements at: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSd_coxBl5_SQWYWLj/viewform

01.01.2022 PEOPLE OF SWINBURNE Meet Narges Ahmadi Hey Everyone ... My name is Narges and I am fourth year Civil Engineering and Environmental Science student. Since Pandemic started I tried to stay positive and tried to find ways to keep myself busy. I currently work as Student CAD Engineer, also I am Media officer for Swinburne Islamic Society. I am volunteering with transport lecturer Thaun, working on Standard Australia project updating the road signs in the Standard. I recently joined Swinburne Peer mentoring program as Mentor. I realised I became more productive; I get more work done now than I used to when I was at university. Now I do not have to travel for 4 hours a day to get to university, so I have time to focus on my study, I am doing 5 units this semester, 3 of my Engineering units have group assignments which is hard to manage. So, both Microsoft To-Do and colander saved my life, I became more organised; I use calendar to keep truck of assignment due dates and tests and most of the time I write what I want to do during the day. I make sure I get time to relax and do fun activities like playing PUBG with my cousins and watch Turkish TV series so I can learn the language. So, that is how I keep myself busy and try to stay positive. Cheers to everyone who is still pushing hard, juggling work and study pressure during the pandemic.
