25.01.2022 By studying the Christian faith, students develop a stronger sense of purpose and meaning in life as well as self-worth which can assist them to counter negativ...ity they may encounter in the playground and later in life. COVID-19 has seen a significant increase in young people struggling to cope in this pandemic. Together, let’s thank God for the positive impact SRE provides young people in our public schools. #WhySRE #ScriptureInSchools #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

21.01.2022 Looking for a resource to help children and families pray? Youthworks, together with parents and children's ministers from around Sydney, have produced Kids Pray - a resource to teach kids to pray in light of God's eternal attributes.

21.01.2022 The High School SRE lesson for this week is available! Jesus often told stories, known as parables, to illustrate what he was teaching. When Jesus used parables, he stood where his hearers stood and used things that were familiar to them. As Jesus was talking to people who understood farming, he used lots of gardening or farming illustrations. In Mark 4 we can read some of the parables that Jesus told to illustrate what God’s kingdom is like. In this lesson students will lear...n that people who listen to God’s word and respond share in the kingdom, and that people in the kingdom of God grow because God grows them. God is growing his kingdom. It can appear insignificant at times, but God has a plan for his kingdom. https://app.nearpod.com/presentation?pin=NAHZW

20.01.2022 Looking for High School SRE materials for students to work on at home? Check out Think Faith Learning at Home! Each lesson is presented as a Nearpod - like an interactive PowerPoint, giving students the opportunity to learn and respond. This term students will consider the kingship of Jesus, and what it means to be part of his kingdom, from the gospel of Mark.... The lesson this week is about Jesus' miracles, and how they are like signposts pointing to his identity and kingship. Students will learn that Jesus heals (but it's God who heals - Deuteronomy 32:39); that Jesus calms a storm (but it's God who calms storms, Psalm 107:28-29); and that Jesus miraculously fed bread to a crowd of God's people in the wilderness (which, again, is a thing that God does - Exodus 16:4). So what do these miracles teach us about Jesus? Please forward this information to any parents who might find it useful, and please contact me if you have any questions. https://thinkfaith.com.au/

20.01.2022 The K-6 SRE lesson for this week is available! As God works out his salvation plan, he uses lots of different people. We have learned about some of these people in the first six lessons this term. Some of the people God used are called prophets, who would take his message to others. This lesson focuses on another prophet named Isaiah. While Jonah was sent to speak to the people of Nineveh, Isaiah was sent to speak to God’s people. ... Isaiah’s message was serious and contained warnings for the people to heed, but students will see that there was also a wonderful promise of comfort from God: that the oppressed would hear good news, and prisoners and captives would hear the announcement of freedom. Students also learn how this promise referred to Jesus, the Saviour who would make it possible for people to live as God’s friends. https://cepconnect.com.au/learningathome/term2/category/222

17.01.2022 This year has caused many challenges for the young people in our community. Special Religious Education (SRE) in public schools is such a valuable platform for ...young people, especially in this current pandemic. In SRE, students are encouraged to see themselves how God views them, that they are loved and valued. This helps students to have a positive sense of self-worth and identity that enables them to manage their emotional, mental, spiritual and physical wellbeing. #WhySRE #ScriptureInSchools #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

15.01.2022 Thank you for your ongoing support of SRE in our local schools! While our classes are not currently able to meet face-to-face, we have been busy preparing and distributing materials for online learning, and we trust that God is able to change young hearts even in difficult times like these. It's been more than two weeks since the last community transmission of COVID-19 in NSW, and social gathering restrictions are beginning to be lifted. The current advice from the Departmen...t of Education is that face-to-face SRE classes are anticipated to resume at the beginning of Term 3. In the meantime, please pray! Pray for our SRE teaching team, and that our return to teaching would happen easily. Pray that we would have the SRE teachers and helpers needed to cover all classes. Pray for the school communities as they manage the changes in proceduresthere may be changes to the way that SRE operates.

14.01.2022 Join us this evening on Zoom to pray for SRE classes in our local schools. Please message me for the Zoom link.
