20.01.2022 November Newsletter: Fully Flexible Loads in Virtual Power Plants (Part 1), SwitchDin abroad in India and beyond - and thanks for a great 2019

19.01.2022 This week marks the introduction of the first of several new rules for rooftop solar equipment installed in South Australia under the Smarter Homes initiative suite. This interview with CEO Dr Andrew Mears in EcoGeneration looks at where Australia's energy system is headed as distributed resources become more and more integrated into the grid's operation. "It’s great that solar is affordable and accessible to so many Australians but this is causing real strain for network ope...rators, whose mandate is to ensure the stability and reliability of the grid." "There’s a bit of a false dichotomy in this discussion. The dominant discourse has been that networks must choose to either: a) spend a lot of money to upgrade the poles and wires, or; b) limit the amount of solar a customer can install or impose a speed limit so that the solar can’t export to the grid at its full potential thereby losing valuable feed-in income. In many states, these constraints have been applied. Neither of these options are desirable as they limit customer choice and lead to inefficiency in the system. In all cases this ultimately leads to higher than necessary electricity prices." https://www.ecogeneration.com.au/solar-remote-control-a-si/

17.01.2022 More coverage of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency's #FlexibleExports project in EcoGeneration. SwitchDin will lead in the project’s integration architecture design and will provide the core software platform for SA Power Networks and AusNet Services to support the flexible export functionality, based on the international ‘Smart Grid’ standard IEEE 2030.5. https://lnkd.in/gb7y4eG... #distributedenergy #pv #solarpv

16.01.2022 PV and hybrid inverters from a range of manufacturers now couple with SwitchDin Droplets to meet the South Australian government’s mandatory ‘Remote Disconnection and Reconnection’ requirement under the state’s Smarter Homes rules. This list will grow as more products are integrated into SwitchDin’s platform and will include both hardware (Droplet) and API integrations with third party devices. We view Smarter Homes requirements as just the beginning of the opportunities for ...SwitchDin to help manufacturers turn their equipment into the building blocks of a cleaner, more distributed energy system. https://www.switchdin.com//11/3/sa-smarter-homes-whats-next

08.01.2022 AEMO is expecting up to 22% of consumption on the National Electricity Market to come from distributed energy by 2040. These resources will need to be visible and manageable for system operators to ensure that their presence helps to bolster overall system security & reliability. SwitchDin's work with electricity network operators and manufacturers around the country is helping to pave the way towards this future. (On a related note, congratulations to Australia for having ju...st passed the milestone of 2.5 million solar systems connected to the grid!)
