24.01.2022 Swordcaft Melbourne Chapter Hi everyone With Melbourne emerging from lockdown and other states close to normal, we are keen to restart Swordcaft Melbourne.... Brisbane chapter has already been running for some weeks with covid safe protocols and our NSW and SA cousins are following suit. Victoria is still a bit behind but hopefully we can restart soon. We are currently developing our safe return to play protocol in conjunction with City of Melbourne. While in theory we could restart this week we are adopting a cautious approach in Melbourne to keep people safe. For those with game passes, we will be extending their expiry date for the duration of our hiatus. Announcement to come when we have a reopening date. During our hiatus we have been developing a new Swordcaft National Registration system with additional benefits like personal injury insurance. Stay tuned. We are also looking at how we can support new smaller Swordcaft groups in Greater Melbourne and Geelong to provide for local groups closer to people's homes which will further improve people's covid safety. If you are interested in getting involved in a local Swordcraft group we would love to hear from you - send us an email on info@swordcraft Jeff Krins President

22.01.2022 Rules trial this week We are continuing to use this time of restricted activity to test various rules. So far this year we have tested 3 different rule sets wit...h variations. It is also a lot of fun just having a bash! We welcome you to join this week's trial so you can have your say into the future of Swordcaft. The trials involve groups of up to 20 players with strict adherence to our Return to Play protocol approved by the City of Melbourne. https://www.facebook.com/groups/266134651485626/?ref=share

21.01.2022 We are pleased to release our new Player Handbook and Rules. The new look Handbook, we feel our best yet, is thanks to Michael Vansleve. This project is the result of hard work by our team, Warband leader committee, Chapter organsiers, and play testers over the last 12 months with lots of debate, trial and error.... We tried a lot of different approaches but in the end decided to largely go "Back to the Future" with a more Warhammer feel. The rules theselves will be pretty familar to our players (they are almost the same as those from 2 1/2 years ago) with tweaks around armour calculation and spread, some extra bonus HP, and the incorporation of our new monster and magic rules. Morale is largely replaced with the species and an entry level costume bonuses. A separate Magic book for wizards will also be available soon. Have a read, talk to your warband leaders, and we look forward to seeing you on the field soon! https://www.swordcraft.com.au/rules Jeff Krins President The Swordcraft Team
21.01.2022 SEPTEMBER 2020 QUEST Good Evening Swordcraft, We know that many of you have been waiting to hear an update on this years Quest event while we're all patiently waiting out Australias shutdown and social isolation laws.... The Executive team have been meeting, and after much discussion and deliberation the decision has been made to postpone this years Quest until 2021. We understand that this news will be very disappointing for many of you, and it has not been made lightly. The event is now less than six months away with no clear indication of when social isolation laws will be wound back in the future. With so much uncertainty going forward due to the continuously developing conditions of COVID-19, we cannot in good conscience forge ahead with the organisation and ticket sales of the event. Should the lockdown be lifted come the September school holidays, we hope to plan a smaller event for you over fewer days to help us all ease back in, and will keep you all up do date on any developments on that front. We are also planning to launch a monthly day game series for when the pandemic restrictions ease. This may also include overnight camping options. We encourage you all to keep in contact with one other in the community and support each other during these unfamiliar times. Keep up your crafting and fighting skills! Relive your favourite Quest memories! We may be on a hiatus for now, but we will be back! The Swordcraft Executive

We loved the step-by-step journey he shared of this brig's creation on his instagram story. The challenge for the month of JULY is: "Warhammer Religious Iconography" The winner will be chosen by vote by the Swordcraft Executive. Onward to crafting! And good luck! Heather On behalf of the Swordcraft Executive *Please note in order to be valid for the challenge, the item needs to be something new and not made previously. 20.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS Player and community safety is our priority. We are monitoring state and Commonwealth public health recommendations regarding sporting events and public gatherings.... We urge players to take steps including staying away if they show symptoms or have traveled overseas within last 14 days. We also encourage all players to: 1. wash their hands with soap. 2. wear gloves (many of you already do so) and wash hands before and after games. 3. avoid physical contact with other players. 4. if needing to sneeze or cough please try to use the crook of your elbow to avoid germs spreading. We will immediately be introducing a "contactless sign in system" to protect our volunteers. You will see some changes to our sign-in process as a result and we ask to you be patient if things take longer. We also require you have a copy of you current PAYG or Game Pass receipt on your phone and bring it with you to sign-in. We will continue to monitor the situation and if necessary may need to cancel games. The Swordcaft Team
20.01.2022 On behalf of the Swordcraft team, we would like to give a shout out to Willem Neill - a fantasy / sci-fi writer from Brisbane. He has a new book coming out soon titled "Embered Soul - Fall of creation". This sounds great and he is a huge fan of DnD and Warhammer. Please give his page a like and lets try to get him down to Melbourne and Brisbane games in the near future :) https://www.facebook.com/pg/willemneillwriting/about/?ref=page_internal
19.01.2022 Good afternoon Sword"Crafters"! We are happy to announce that the July Sword-Craft winner is Jack Symonds with a fantastic painted shield! Jack has won a free Swordcraft game at the chapter of their choosing onc...e games are able to continue. And now, the challenge for the month of AUGUST is: "Accessory". We foresee the limitless potential for a theme this broad and can't wait to see how creative you will be! The winner will be chosen by vote by the Swordcraft Executive, and will receive a free Swordcraft game at the chapter of their choosing. Once again, onward to crafting! And good luck! *Please note in order to be valid for the challenge, the item needs to be something new and not made previously. In the spirit of challenge, creativity, and learning new skills!
17.01.2022 Welcome to Sudenburg for real! After 5 years of blood (fake of course), sweat and tears we now have a planning permit for our property! The permit allows us to run events on the property and construct a bridge over the Loch River. ... Swordcraft has a 30 year lease over the property, some 80 acres in the Loch Valley, just north of Noojee in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. We will be introducing groups of Swordcrafters to the property over the next few months while we get started building our bridge. We hope you are as excited as we are that Swordcraft now has a real home! We would also like to acknowledge that Sudenburg is on the traditional lands of the Kulin Nation. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging. Here are some teaser photos of the site and an early event we had there!

As senior members of the community, Warband Leaders are expected to follow these standards. If you feel that at WBL is not meeting them, please email us at [email protected] so that we are made aware and can therefore act appropriately. Thankyou, Swordcraft https://www.swordcraft.com.au/code-of-conduct

11.01.2022 NOTE - MARKET TIME CHANGE The market will now start at 6:00 and conclude at 9:15. Due to the lack of cool change coming through this afternoon, were shifting the set-up and start time of the market slightly so that vendors spend less time sitting in the sun. ... Set up for larger stalls will now start at 5pm, with blanket vendors welcome to arrive any time from 5:30. When you arrive, we will have a marked section for blankets and tables to set up - simply find a free place to put down your items or ask a marshal if you need help. Madeleine Colvin is the contact for this if you need any help or have any quetsions. Fees will be taken at some point during the evening, so no need to pre-pay before you set up. Happy holidays everyone, stay hydrated!

10.01.2022 Happy Holidays everyone! The rules for the special game on Friday are as follows. The head marshal will be Adele, who has put effort into making Friday night extra festive for us all. Please note that this is a festive Christmas game of Swordcraft, and not a rules trial or regular occurrence. These rules only apply to the game on 20 December 2019.... - The game will cost $5, and be free for new players - Armour will not give you additional hit points in this game - Base health and morale will remain unchanged ie. 2HP and a maximum of 3 morale. - A +1 special morale point can be gained by dressing in a Christmas/yule/festive-themed costume. - Pre-1600 fantasy still applies to costuming, but warband colours are not required Examples of appropriate festive costumes: - Reindeer/ fawn, - Angel/ fairy, - Grinch/ Krampus - Santa inspired outfits - Christmas coloured costumes - Christmas elves - Costumes trimmed with tinsel or similar We are trusting players to judge their own Christmas morale point with appropriate effort given to the theme. Please keep in mind that it is going to be an incredibly hot night on Friday, so ensure you dress appropriately, bring water and know your own limits.

09.01.2022 Swordcraft Player Handbook and Rules v1.1 Following feedback on the demi-cuirass and on consulting with our female bodied players, we have adjusted the armour table. 09.01.2022 Good morning Sword"Crafters"! Its time to announce the winner of our first crafting challenge! Congratulations goes to Gabby Carbon for her linen and flannel hood! And an honourable mention to Jade Oakes and her pig hat for the video game accuracy (and really making us smile). We were really impressed with everyones creations, and hope you're all ready and rearing for our next crafting challenge theme!... The challenge for the month of JUNE is: "Something for your TORSO" Weve also decided that from this month onwards well be changing the method of selecting the winner of these competitions. The winner will now be chosen by vote by the Swordcraft Executive. This is due to a number of reasons, and we believe this to ultimately be a fairer way of doing it. Onward to crafting! And good luck! *Please note in order to be valid for the challenge, the item needs to be something new and not made previously. In the spirit of challenge, creativity, and learning new skills!
09.01.2022 Good Evening Swordcraft, Just a quick notice to inform you all that with a recent overhaul of our email system, complaints and feedback should now be directed to [email protected]. Our contact lists on Facebook and our website have been changed to reflect this. Thankyou, ... The Swordcraft Executive
08.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC As things continue to develop with this pandemic and with the likelihood of further shutdowns and need for increased social isolation, the Swordcaft Executive has been consulting with our chapters and warband leaders representatives to determine the best course of action. The Swordcraft Executive and Board have now decided that Swordcraft should to go into caretaker mode and suspend all games and and events with immediate effect.... This decision encompasses all national chapters and events for which tickets have gone on sale, and will be reviewed each week, though we expect the suspension of games and events will last months rather than weeks. For those of you who have bought game passes, we will extend the expiry dates by the duration of the shut down. For those of you who have bought tickets to events that have been canceled as a result of this decision, we will ensure that refunds are provided. We encourage you to all stay in touch and continue to remain a part of the Swordcraft community. In times like these it is more important than ever that you stay in touch with friends and support each other. We understand that this decision will be disappointing for many of you. It was not made lightly. However, we believe that its in everyones best interests to work as a community and do what we can to help stall the spread of this virus. Stay strong and stay safe! Jeff Krins President Swordcraft Ltd On behalf of the Executive and the Board
07.01.2022 Good morning Sword"Crafters"! I hope you're all ready and rearing for this month's - and our very first - crafting challenge theme! For the purpose of community inclusion, we tried to make our first challenge as broad as possible, and we just can't wait to see what you all create! You will have until the last day of the month to comment a photo of your NEW* creation under this thread, and remember the image with the most 'likes' wins a free battle-game. Of course, the real p...rize will be the amazing new piece of kit that you have created! So, let's get ready to get motivated and share some inspiration! The challenge for the month of MAY is: "Something for your HEAD" Onward to crafting! And good luck! *Please note in order to be valid for the challenge, the item needs to be something new and not made previously. In the spirit of challenge, creativity, and learning new skills!
06.01.2022 Good Morning Swordcraft, As youre aware, we held a special Christmas game on the 20th of December where players and vendors had the opportunity to have their own market stall set up for a small fee as a donation. We are proud to say that this raised $469.75, a number that was then matched by Swordcrafts president Jeff and rounded up to a total of $940! In light of the catastrophic fires that Australia has been dealing with these past few months, it was decided that the donation should be made to the CFA Welfare Fund, something Im sure we can all agree is a worthy cause! The Swordcraft Executive
06.01.2022 AHPPC COVID-19 Community Sport Guidelines All community sport participants must play a role to help reduce the transmission of COVID 19, including those organising, attending or supporting attendance at these activities. Participants should not attend and participate in Community Sport if they:... - have travelled internationally or been exposed to a person with COVID-19 in the preceding 14 days; or - are at a high risk including the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions. Attendance at Community Sport activities Only essential participants should attend activities, i.e. players, coaches, match officials, staff and volunteers involved in operations and parents/guardians of participants. All players, visitors should practise the following social distancing measures at Community Sporting activities: - Players, visitors and officials should minimise physical contact as much as is practicable, for example no shaking hands, no walking out with player mascots, no pre- or post-match celebrations and no celebrating between players during the match. - When spectating or attending a game or training session, ensure a distance of 1.5 metres is kept between yourself and others. - Access to change rooms should be restricted solely to players, officials and essential staff. - If spectating, try to maintain 1.5 metres between yourself and others. It is recommended that sporting teams, including school sporting teams, maintain local competitions only, with no inter-district, or inter-club travel. As with all gatherings, basic protective measures should be observed, such as regular hand hygiene practices before, during and after the match, do not share drink bottles, and avoid touching your face. It is acknowledged that contact sports have a greater risk of transmission than other sports, and as such, should be considered on a case-by-case basis. However, other mitigation strategies for match socialisation and contact must be employed to reduce the risk to players, visitors, and officials more broadly. https://www.sportaus.gov.au//minister-for-sport-issues-cov

03.01.2022 Swordcraft Corvid-19 Update With the welcome news that Victoria is starting to ease restrictions, Swordcraft can now start the process of coming out of hibernation. It will still be sometime before we can run full scale games again. In the meantime, players and warbands are able to dust off their gear and start training again to the extent it is safe to do so with social distancing. ... On a more official note, we have been working with the Warband Leader Committee on the next steps in the rules trials we were conducting prior to the lock down. We are excited to announce that we will be continuing those trials with small (10 player) focus groups in the coming weeks. Have a chat to your warband leader if you wish to be involved in one of these rules trials. And good luck to those who have entered the May Sword Craft competition! May the best hat win! 03.01.2022 SWORDCRAFT MELBOURNE SYSTEM IN PLACE DURING CORONAVIRUS RESTRICTIONS We are continuing to monitor and comply with Australian government restrictions and recommendations. ... As at 19 March 2020, we will be continuing to operate Swordcraft's weekly battle games. Our games have a low risk profile because they are outdoor and do not require close physical contact. We also recognize the importance to many player's mental health in these times of having a safe place to go where there is some small aspect of normality. We will be implementing a number of further social distancing steps to minimise the risk of transmission: 1. If you have tested positive to Corvid 19 you shouldn't be out. If you are showing any other clod or flu symptoms or someone in your household is, then do not attend Swordcraft either as a player or spectator. 2. In the event that more than 400 players wish to play, any above 400 will be turned away to ensure that we stay below 500 people in total. 3. A "contact less" policy between our volunteers and players will continue with no loaner gear (swords or shields), simpler battle fields and scenarios, sashes not being used, and sign-in undergoing significant changes. 4. PAYG ticketing will move to a purely online process with no ability to pay on arrival. All players will need to pre-purchase a the weekly single game pass. This will allow us to significantly reduce contact between players, each other, and volunteers. We repeat there will be NO cash or EFTPOS option to pay on arrival. $10 "Plague Doktor Special" single game pass https://tickets.myguestlist.com.au//swor/evs5e72d00c3a143/ 5. Existing game passes will be suspended until public gathering restrictions are removed (due to increased requirement for contact with our sign-in volunteers to process them). Affected game pass expiry dates will be extended to ensure they remain valid. 6. New Players - unfortunately we will not be able to provide new player inductions and training until further notice. Again this is to protect our volunteers. We look forward to meeting you when restrictions are lifted. And please continue to practice good hygiene (hand washing in warm soapy water, and if you need to cough or sneeze do so into your elbow). The Swordcraft Team
03.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TOMORROW NIGHT We will only be able to accommodate 7 to 8 teams across the 3 ovals this Friday (with 1-2 teams having a bye each round). This means that there will be a player cap of 192. When we reach that cap, ticket sales will close (we are already getting close). We will be playing a round robin tournament across 3 separate ovals (Western, Ransford and McAllister) with 50 player caps on each and 1 match at a time on each. This has been cleared ...by City of Melbourne and DHHS. The only toilets available to players and crew will be the Ransford oval toilets - not the usual Western Pavilion ones.
